Really, all I'm getting out of this is people wanting the next movie to stop ripping off Richard Donner and start ripping off John Byrne.

But anyway, I really want that kid gone more than anything. I would also like Luther more like the comics because well, its alot better than Donners imo.

What changes need to be made for me to want to go see the next one ? The suit for 1 thing. The biggest reason I refused to go see it was the suit they made for the movie. They need to make Superman look masculine, like Reeves Superman. He's Superman, the man of steel, not a prettyboy who looks like he should be putting makeup on, and playing with Barbie dolls.

Carp man...Routh channels reeve in this movie, and seriously...though I disagreed with the suit...I got over it once I saw his portrayal.
PSL reeve was also considered a too girly for the role at the time he was cast.

Like I have always said. I loved the 1st 2 Superman movies. And to be frank, I did not give Reeves non masculing look in the face a second thought, because the suit, and the way it fit, and his posture looked like Superman. The suit overshadowed the actor. But the suit for this movie, good lord. This is an icon in the comic universe. Like Batman. For BB they made a costume worthy of Batman, that eraised the memory of the suits created for Batman and Robin.

Im just weird I guess, because to me Reeve never LOOKED like Superman. To me he didnt carry himself like supes would...and neither routh...but in the end thats a good thing, beause in order to REALLY carry yourself like Superman really would then youd have to hire some no-talent like pro wrestler Batista or something...

At this point, nothing but a complete restart would satisfy me. Have someone make the movie Singer SHOULD have made with all the great things Singer TALKED about respecting actually being respected. Keep the music because it's almost as iconic as the character, it transcends the movies themselves. Other than that, it all needs to go. Routh was a good choice as was Spacey, but a script respecting the character and a director to do the same in a complete reboot would be the only thing worth wasting time on.

Call returns the end of the donner saga and start again. With a brighter costume not covered in s symbols, no kid, a metroplolis that isnt out of the 50's, a new Lois, a Lex that is more in line with todays interpretation i.e a billionaire industrialist not mad on real estate and a major villain worthy of kickin the man of steel's ass. Like mongul, Darkseid or even doomsday.

I'm a fan of Superman Returns, a huge one. I liked it more than Batman Begins. But I think that it's rather unfair to exclude those who liked Superman Returns to have input on what they'd like for the Man of Steel.

- Have Lex start up LexCorp.

- Introduce Supergirl, Supergirl doesn't deserve her own movie, but she's an intricate part the Superman mythos. Lets ignore the crappy Supergirl movie that has been retconned out by Superman Returns and the current crappy state of her comics. In Superman Returns, Clark said that Krypton was a graveyard and he was the only one left (asides from Zod, Ursa, and Non who were Phantom Zone criminals). I'd like to see Clark's reaction and response that he is no longer the only Kryptonian that is not a Phantom Zone criminal.

- Don't take out $10 million scenes.

- Have the villain be Brainiac, use the version from Superman: The Animated Series, he's way cooler.

- If Zod is the villain, have huge, epic battles with him! And in the end, have Superman kill him with kryptonite, just like he did in the comics.

- Have the movie set up for Darkseid!

- Just like Superman Returns mentioned Gotham, have more smaller mentions of the Batman universe (like how Superman: The Animated Series refered to Batman as "that nut from Gotham City" or a newspaper headline showing Batman) or even other places in the DC Universe (like Keystone City, Star City, Coast City, Central City, Gateway City, Hub City, Fawcett City, Happy Harbor, Ivy Town, etc.).

- Have someone who is involved in both comics and the TV/movie mediums to work on the script along with Singer, Harris, and Dougherty. Just like David Goyer did with Batman Begins. I recommend either Jeph Loeb or Paul Dini.

- I liked the style of Metropolis, but it just didn't seem bright enough. Show Metropolis as a more brighter place, no grey skies, lights everywhere. Make it seem that while they were rebuilding Metropolis from the damage Luthor caused, make it so that they took the rebuilding even further past of what Metropolis was, into the City of Tommorrow.

- Expand the Fortress of Solitude into a monument and memorial to Krypton, the House of El, and Kryptonian culture

- Superman Returns did a good job making Lex a darker character as opposed to his incarnations in Superman the Movie and Superman II, yet he still posessed some of the camp that Hackman's Lex had. Get rid of it. No wigs. No Lex doing some of the dirty work himself. No WRONG! No prison buddies. More "Gods are selfish beings in red capes who don't share their powers with mankind!" and the guy who stabbed Superman in the back with kryptonite.

I need to see:

The kid storyline resolved.

A healthy mix of Donner and comics.

A fresh villain.

A headline stating 'Giant Bat haunts Gotham city'. This isn't some wishlist thing like some of the ramblings other people have posted, it's an excellent character moment for Batman as it shows how the world outside Gotham sees him.

A continuation of Lois/Superman romance brewing, without making Supes look like the bad guy.

2)Open the damn collar of the suit!

3)Parallels between Jonathan raising Clark/Clark raising Jason!

4)Lois finds out Clark is Superman and there is a proposal in the end

5)Some good lesson in the end about hope and heroism. Something like Peace on Earth/Superman for all seasons/Action Comics #775 - Show why Superman is the number 1 hero of all time!!!

What are you're absolute needs with the sequel?

* Routh to stop doing a Reeve impersonation
* Singer to stop doing a Donner impersonation
* No CGI unless absolutley neccesary and in long shots only
* More Clark Kent
* Lex to be less pantomime villain more intelligent, powerful and cunning and actually having a strong motivation this time
* I guess the kid has to stay, just do something good with him and no saving the day with his super powers that sucks so bad.
* Doomsday, a creation secretly financed by Lex.
* Braniac, who possibly controls Lex
* Clark and Lois doing an assignment together as a means to hopefully injecting their relationship with chemistry
* Routh to actually put some muscle on
* Slight suit changes-Horizontal neck line, lighter, brighter, longer cape, his overpants to not be speedo's but almost trunks, a better belt without the 'sexy new age' \S/ on the buckle, better boots.

Still, even without these i will see the film.

Actually Batman Begins had 4 villains: Scarecrow, Ra's al Ghul, the Roman, and Mr. Zsasz.

I would prefer a re-start, but since there'll be a sequel this is what I need to watch the sequel:

*A brighter look/photography
*Brighter red tone for the suit
*No freaking kid (unnecesary characters twists)
*New and original story/villian(s) without copying what Donner has done.
*A better Lois Lane
*Lex Luthor is less funnier and more in tone with the comics
*More action for Superman
*Real, well shot shirt rip

*Some damn investigative reporting on the part of Lois and Clark
*Complete revision of the character of Clark Kent -- no more goofy Clark... let's have the CK from the Animated Series, or of the one in L&C.
*No more emo-Superman, or peeping-tom Superman
*Add a little spunk to Lois
*Develop the Lois/Clark relationship

ive been reading the synopsis & reviews of Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, & wow, i'm so intrigued. how i wish twas easy to find those comics from where i am.

anyway...
just imagine merging the Luthor we see in LL: MOS & the animated series version of Luthor, & we might get the BEST onscreen Luthor ever...

Remember in SR, when Spacey Luthor was comparing himself to Prometheus...THAT was the ONLY cool moment that I could recall of the film...i thought that after that scene, we'll be treated to a Luthor with depth & a kind of brilliance that can match with Supes' brawn. Too bad we got crap.

Exactly. And his backstory alone would make for an excelent film, although the fans would probably expect some Superman centric moments and action moments aswell, so the other two books I mentioned should also be mixed in. Raised by an abusive father and anapathetic mother. His father only wanted to use him and his genius to furthur his own financial gain. At an early age, he killed his parents and collected on the insurance. He was sent into foster care, where he met and fell in love with Lena, the daughter of his foster parents. When his foster father learned of all the money he had in the bank, he tried to force Lena to manipulate Lex into giving it to the family. When Lena refused, her father beat her to death. This finally made Lex realize two things: 1) People would always stand in the way of his success, and as such he must destroy any opossition he faces, and 2) Human beings, while possessing great potential as a race, are greatly flawed individually. They require a stong hand that will weed out the bad seeds and keep everything orderly, and yet must also be allowed to grow culturally. He sees Superman as being the opposite of this philosophy, which is why he despises him.

Also, interesting fact: Many years later, Lex framed his foster father for an atempted assassination of a major politician, and then had him killed.

I feel the first movie locked itself in a corner with several elements. I have the DVD on order and once I've seen it again, I will be able to critique the movie in a more detailed way (though The Complete Shooting Script book is heartbreaking enough in showing what was cut and what was left in that should have been cut!!!)

1. The Krypton exploration was cut out - how can it easily be used in a sequel when it relates specifically to the events in the first movie? Won't it feel disjointed and out of context?

2. Jason and Richard - they won't kill off the kid, they can't just shove Richard out of the picture or kill him (poor old James Marsden if they do, he was shoved aside enough in X-Men)

3. Lois - since they can't just get rid of Jason and Richard now they've been established, Superman's love for Lois seems doomed. It would be wrong to show Superman destroying the Lois/Richard relationship, it would be too contrived to show some other force destroying that relationship. Does Superman need a new love interest? If so, how do Lois, Richard and Jason fit in?

4. The crystals - they are on NK, which means no more Jor-El, no more communication/control system in the Fortress. Plus, Lex now knows where the Fortress is and he knows there is no security around it.

5. Lex - he is still at large, stuck on an island. He has tried to destroy billions of people so the chances of him becoming a more respectable corporate tycoon are zero.

Can all those issues be resolved? How?

1.I feel like maybe/hopefully they'll use the return to krypton scene to show that maybe he was followed back??

2.I would love to see the supervillian kidnappe jason in the sequel...it seems to me that supes accepted that Lois and richard were togeather and moved on..IMo.

3.again,imho i think he moved on from it..so i think/hope richard will be around for a while.

4.no mention of the father crystal in S.R...could he still have it?if so,he could create more crystals

5.that one is tricky..as far as I know,lois is the only witness besides Kitty and Jason..maybe Lois will be silent out of fear of Lex hurting jason??

1. I think someone follows him home.

2. Singer just has to setup a situation where everyone realizes Superman needs to be Jason's father. Richard can step aside as being responsible and wants what's best for Jason.

3. Superman doesn't have to do anything if the above situation happens.

4. I think the whole point of the movie was that Supes doesn't need his father anymore. When you have children, you are certainly no longer a child.

5. I don't think anyone knows Lex did it. It would just be Supes and Lois' words against his. I admit it is diffucult.
