It seems that the voicing of the Surfer is still in question. Doug Jones stated that he did the lines, but he didn't know if they were using his voice or not. Just trying to see what the prevalent opinion is on this.

I'm sure they might alter his voice. to make it more alieny.

btw, was that his voice in Hellboy?

Not in the first film. But he has just voiced Abe Sapien in the two HELLBOY ANIMATED films and he will provide ALL of Abe, body and voice, in the sequel, HELLBOY II:THE GOLDEN ARMY.

No,the clip ive heard of Jones is not how i imagine the SS sounding,I say get someone with a rich voice like Liam Neeson or Morgan Freeman

Hunter....I agree...don't get me wrong...i like doug jones....but, for a character like the Surfer I expected something of a regal voice. Something mellow yet powerful and charismatic. Kinda like Hugo Weaving (although he has been used so much lately that there are certainly better choices).

well then I hope they get an actor at least.

Nah - don't need to - they already have one ;).

Doug's voice for the Surfer is pitched much lower, and is very measured, very noble ... it's cool. He has also already said that there would probably be some electronic enhancement, so I'm just going to bide my time and see what happens.

Have you heard his Silver Surfer voice? If he truly can do a noble voice like that I would be happy with it. I just have almost never heard his voice in any acting role. I have only heard him in interviews.

I didn't know the the silver surfer spoke.

Saw Doug Jones on a clip at Youtube, where he was promoting that Pans Labryanth or whatever and he souds good enough to voive the Surfer. I'd have no complaints.

Here's the Urban Rush interview with Doug. Towards the end you hear him pitch his voice much lower and he sounds wonderful. I certainly hope they use his voice for SS.

What about him? This is Doug's role now, not his.

He could play the voice too.In the case of Doug don't satisfy the fans...

My response, i don´t care.
Why?
Because i´ve never seen Doug Jones acting.
Norrin Radd´s voice needs to be calm and suave, with nobility about him, almost like singing, but, when enraged, strong and commanding.

Doug and a bit of electronic enhancement will be fine with me.

They should make his voice like the voice of Archangel in X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, just an echoing voice.

What i hope they do with Silver Surfer's speaking is to do what Darth Maul did, have very few lines, but be badass!!

If you are asking who was the voice of Abe Sapien, he would be the second of my two choices for actors to voice Silver Surfer.

Michael Rosenbaum or David Hyde Pierce (voice of Abe Sapien) are the two I would like to see take a crack at it.

With sort of ethereal modulation over either voice it could be very cool.

Didn't I already point out that having DHP do the voice of SS will have people wondering when Abe Sapien turned silver and started flying around on a surfboard? Besides, DHP is a well known name and Tim was asking for lesser known actors.

Hey guys I hate to have to say this and I have not heard Doug's SS voice but I heard him in a couple interviews and Doug is quite animated and enthusiastic and I think talented enough to create a suitable voice for SS, now these are my feelings.

Twice now Tim Story has posted something on his site and then just as quickly removed it. Somebody is clearly (suggesting?) editorializing his myspace blog. Nevertheless I think that he was giving the fans a heads up. I think Hellmistress may be right, the suits have issues with using Doug's voice and i think I know why.

Doug is clearly able to do a voice, he is an accomplished actor, but this is hollywood and the silver surfer is possibly going to be a franchise player soon. That given, the choice of not using Dougie's voice may be an attempt by the suits to dilute the Doug Jones experience in deference to making a complete change in the future to a high profile A list star for his own franchise if the surfer really takes off.

I think that this is Doug's role right now and he deserves the voice role as well. It is an unfortunate position to be in when the body of your work as a whole is not respected and reveals the sometimes heartlessness of the guys in the suits. There is not a lot of purity in that business and it looks like right now they might be giving doug "the business".
