Age of Ultron War Machine / Iron Patriot ???

It's my belief that so far, Marvel hasn't really done much with the WM character. In IM2, his armor was hacked. In IM3, his armor was taken away from him to do a nefarious deed to the POTUS. I hope in AOU, Whedon can return some dignity to WM by making him somewhat important despite the movie being jam-packed with too many Avengers on the big screen. Maybe someday, WM will actually feel relevant in MCU, because he hasn't to me yet.

I actually thought the joke was funny, and it fit well with the themes of the film which centered around propaganda. Rhodes when along with it because he is a solider, but as his password proved, he was not the brains behind the paint job (also, that he's not very good at coming up with secure passwords). Killian was creating this master illusion of the perfect foreign threat, but he also wanted to give people something to rally around. Creating fear is good, but there has to be a balance so they are still wiling to go off and fight. So AIM created the whole idea of the Iron Patriot armor as a mirror imagine to the Mandarin.

It made sense in the story, they even joked about it. I just have trouble understand people who are like...

Same exact guy in the same exact suit, plus a paint job. I mean, there is no reason for them to use the Iron Patriot design outside of IM3 since, as I explained, it was created solely as part of AIM's plan and was used in the film because it helped highlight certain themes. But regardless, I just don't understand how Rhodes is a cool guy unless, oh my god he painted his armor now he sucks. I would hate to see the reaction if he dyed his hair, maybe got a tattoo, and started having everyone call him by his first name, James, instead.

It all comes down to what people want to look at on screen. But yeah I agree with you.

True, and I have to remember that most people that read comics and a are amount that see these films are probably very visual people where as I've always fallen far more towards the verbal side of things. Because the Iron Patriot armor made sense for the story I had no problem with it, and so long as Rhodey's part is well written I won't be bothered by his costume. But you know what, I honesty didn't notice the changes between Cap's TFA and A1 costumes until someone pointed it out. I am really not visual. But for those who are, I guess a detail like that can be a big thing.

This is so true, yes I love looking at the costumes and stuff in photos and what have you, but during a film I rarely notice what people are wearing I'm too engaged in the dialogue and story.

Some people here though judge a lot by appearance, the costume is too busy, the face isn't right, why isn't he wearing his mask or his helmet. I prefer his blonde beard, Vision's face is too busy. (Too busy being the main complaint a lot of the time)

Which is fine and good, but it shouldn't negate the film in anyway, unless the costume is really horrendous.

I wonder what being you is like, as I'm a very visual person.

Pretty frustrating when all the actors have the same haircut. There is one show my friend had me watch where all the characters were marines and thus wore the same clothes and had the same hair. I watched a full season and still couldn't tell apart most of them by ****.

Then again, I'm mystified by all the people would call A1 simple as a sort of insult when he writing behind it is solid and clever and seriously can't grasp what some people like about TIH because oh my god... That dialog sounds physically painful in parts. Those are the thins I look for when watching a movie - the writing style, the dialog, characterization, themes. It takes really bad cgi for me to even notice. I like reading the poster related comments here because, honestly, I would never have picked up on a lot of the visual details and I understand that stuff is important to the over all vision of the film. It's ust not the stuff I happen to pay attention to.

Looks to be the same here. I have no problem with them keeping the same design. It''ll at least add some consistency to him and let Stark be the one with all new armors everytime he's on screen.

The way they're kinda hiding WM's involvement has me very worried about rhodey's fate

With all of the characters in the film, it'll be tough to give him much screen time. Could the Avengers be avenging Rhodey this time around?

I think people are overthinking it a bit. We've probably seen so much of War Machine in the merchandising over the Maxioffs because A) He's already a known property among general audiences and buyers and B) He has a really cool design, whereas Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have more generic looking street clothes.

I mean remember all those variant armors in Iron Man 3 that were featured in all the toy lines and video games? They had like maybe 3 minutes of screentime.

WM has a cool design?
it's basically just IM but gray
next to the plethora of Armor suits we've seen over 4 movies, his is one of the more dull ones

at least SW and QS look different

Yeah, like a jogger and a girl at Hot Topic. Robots and battle armor are always strong sellers. The merchandisers probably just don't have much interest in street clothes.

yea well, some real costumes would've solved that issue I guess

Is Don contracted to be in more Marvel movies after Age of Ultron?

I love Cheadle as Rhodey. Best thing they did was replacing Howard with him.

I really liked how he delivered his lines, especially the humour. Didn't mind Howard except for his voice, and I guess I could overlook (overhear :D ) that.

Where is that from?

That statue's from a Beast Kingdom product presentation in Taiwan, that's where they unveiled their $22K full scale Hulkbuster. This plus the Hot Toys pics seem to point to the WM Mk2 making an appearance in AoU, but promo/merch stuff can be totally irrelevant to the actual movie - case in point, the Mk2 was revealed prior to IM3 in a similar fashion and never made an appearance with the WM livery. I'm still skeptical we'll see Rhodey suit up in AoU, but I'd be glad to be wrong.

Hopefully he doesn't die, but his suit is taken over by Ultron early on, cutting him out from the remainder of the movie.

Maybe they want it to be a surprise when he shows up to help the Avengers fight Ultron in the finale.

I really hope he doesn't die though. He has the potential to be used much better and his armor rocks.

Where'd you hear and/or read this??? I have never heard such a thing, in fact it seems to me like maybe his armor won't even really be in the film at all save for maybe a couple of scenes.

It was kind of cool to see Rhodey and Tony trying to lift Thor's hammer together.
