Warframe: From the Developers of The Darkness II

They don't give much info on the lore do they? I'd like to know more about the Tenno. What they have given so far is not pretty sparse. That on purpose?

The latest update for robot-ninjas-in-space title Warframe went live last week, bringing fancy new weapons and content to all of you would-be interstellar assassins. But the new missions and items aren't the only big news from the launch; Digital Extremes also announced that Warframe has amassed over three million users since hitting open beta in March.

Update 9 brought the NOVA warframe, designed by the community's Design Council, along with content expansions to the Orokin Void and Grineer Galleon zones. Additionally, Digital Extremes added five new prime weapon blueprints to discover, 14 new warframe helmets, and a redesigned fight with Captain Vor that ends with an all-new pistol blueprint.

Curious about Warframe's Update 9? Watch the video from last week's blog post for an in-depth look. You'll find it after the break. Continue Reading

Warframe listed for Xbox One by PEGI

Digital Extremes' co-op shooter Warframe is making its way to Xbox One, according to European ratings agency PEGI, which has listed the free-to-play game for Microsoft's console with a release date of today. We've reached out to Digital Extremes for comment.

Warframe is currently free to play and available on PC and PS4. The game has had mixed reviews, mostly due to its cumbersome user interface system. If you've got a group of pals and are looking to try a co-op shooting, Warframe is at its best when you're actually playing the game instead of fighting the menus.

Update: Developer Digital Extremes tells us, "We have nothing to announce at this time."

It's still in beta( from what they told GT about it's move to ps4) it's just being played earlier then what should ever be said for something that said to be in that stage.

Perfect World Entertainment is adding another studio to its cap. Digital Extremes Ltd., the studio behind Warframe, is having all of its outstanding shares purchased by PWE in cooperation with Sumpo Food Holdings Limited. This agreement is non-binding and was first announced on June 30th, although nothing has come up since to indicate any sort of a change or reversal.

Players have taken to the forums voicing a certain amount of displeasure with the deal, with several comparisons to PWE's acquisition of Cryptic Studios when it was sold by Atari. As it stands, no official statement beyond the business dealings has been made by the studio.

Warframe : New Beginnings

From new weapons and Warframes to new game modes and tilesets, Warframe has seen quite a few dramatic changes and additions in the past year. So many in fact, that it can be a little tough to keep up with where to go as a brand new player. That’s why we’re particularly excited about our upcoming Update 14 this week. Not only does it include a few meaty changes for our veteran players to chew on, but the overhauled new player experience and quest system means it’s never been a better time to get into the game!

The first major change in U14 that new and old players alike will appreciate is the Liset, a personal ship that acts as both a means of transportation all over the Solar System as well as your complete intel and preparation center. Using various terminals on the Liset, players can build load outs for missions, adjust their weapons and mods, access the codex, in-game store and more.
Liset%20Exterior_t.jpg

Existing players will have access to everything the Liset has to offer right away. New players will unlock their ship piece by piece in a new quest tutorial that will make learning how to play Warframe a whole lot easier.
Liset%20Interior_t.jpg

Helping to guide players through the assembly of their Liset is Ordis, the ship’s AI-based Cephalon, who is introduced during the brand new quest system; which will immediately help new players through the lore of Warframe in addition to being a feature that we’ll continually update down the line as new quests come available. It’s one of the features the Dev team is most excited about as it gives us a chance to both guide and challenge players as new events arise.
Worried that Update 14 is only for new players? Fear not, it has a few long awaited features for veterans too. As one of the first in-game quests available we expect many players will flock to obtain their Kubrow, a new furry companion that players can use as an expansion to the Sentinel feature in game. Obtaining a Kubrow means raising it from infancy, and though it’ll take some time for your warrior-hound to be ready for battle, the end result should be notably different from the much more calculated assistance players receive from Sentinels. Are you ready to become a proud new parent of a sweet little vicious Kubrow puppy?
Kubrow_t.jpg

Topping off the last of our big reveals is a dramatic change to the Dark Sectors -- areas of space where Tenno Clans can deploy Solar Rails to face off against one another in a bid to control resources. While previously players could run missions to destroy enemy rails there was never any direct confrontation between Clans...until now!
These new PvP missions will set Clans, their Alliances, and any other Tenno that wish to participate directly against an opposing Clan for the first time in full 4v4 space ninja on space ninja combat. Working alongside a team of AI spectres players will either invade and attempt to destroy key objectives, or protect the Rail by working with defensive emplacements used to beat back the opposition.
Dark%20Sector%20PvP_t.jpg

There’s so much in this update we haven’t even scratched the surface! There’s still the fan-made weapon Silva & Aegis, a never before seen tileset, the return of our Hive Infestation game type, a new pistol and the unveiling of our newest Warframe, Mirage. A little bit of something for everyone.
So, if you’ve never tried Warframe before, or have been waiting for us to make starting off just a little more intuitive, log in and give Update 14 a shot and let us know what you think. At the very least you get a cool spaceship, a new furry friend to nurture and can spend a little time working off that daytime stress by beating back Captain Vor and the Grineer Empire. Don’t worry, they deserve it.

Warframe update 14.0 adds new class, quests, modes and new pets

at 03:09 on 21 July 2014

[YT]3U8mcBd6yE0[/YT]

It is not unreasonable to want pets in violent third-person shooter video games. The team at Digital Extremes doesn't think so, as the new (and rather major) Warframe update includes pets, as well as other substantial additions. These include a better opening tutorial and user interface, a whole new Warframe class, new modes and quests galore.

[YT]QdENZUz-ejg[/YT]

Warframe has surpassed 10 million registered users, according to a recent press release, and developer Digital Extremes is celebrating the free-to-play game about exoskeletal space ninjas' success with a new patch. Dubbed simply "Update 14," the update revamps several areas of the game while adding to others. Highlights include:
  • An overhauled user interface
  • Pets
  • New Warframe, Mirage - a trickster-style character who can create copies of herself to fool enemies
  • Pets
  • New weapons
  • Seriously, did we mention pets? Because there are pets now. Look, we're not sure you understand, so feel free to check out the behind-the-scenes video above to see what we're talking about. They're like little bat-wolf-bears! So cute!
While Update 14 is already available for PC users, Digital Extremes notes that PS4 players will have to wait "a few more weeks" to get their hands on the patch, as the revamped UI requires additional tweaking to work with the DualShock 4. It's not clear if Update 14 will be applied before or after Warframe makes its way to Xbox One later this year.

Majority share in Warframe dev purchased by Chinese companies

9

The majority of shares in Warframe developer Digital Extremes have been acquired by two Chinese companies, Multi Dynamic Games and Perfect Online Holding. As a subsidiary of Sumpo Food Holdings Limited, Multi Dynamic Games purchased 58 percent of Digital Extremes' shares for $69.6 million, whereas Perfect Online acquired three percent of the developer for $3.6 million. Negotiations for the agreement began in late June.

The value of the transactions, a total of $73.2 million (approximately HK $567.3 million according to Sumpo Food Holdings), is subject to future adjustment by the companies. Warframe launched in March 2013 for PC before the free-to-play shooter arrived on PS4 when the system launched in November 2013. The game hit Xbox One last month, after it reached 10 million registered users in July. Digital Extremes was founded in Ontario, Canada in 1993 and had a hand in the development of the Unreal and BioShock series.

Warframe studio Digital Extremes partners with Perfect World

Back in July there were rumblings that Digital Extremes, the studio behind Warframe, would soon be added to the lineup of Perfect World Entertainment's studios. After three months of negotiations, the deal has finally gone through, with PWE and Sumpo Food Holdings Limited acquiring a majority share in the company. The deal also includes giving Perfect World exclusive rights to publishing Warframe in mainland China.

A post on the official forums is meant to assuage any player fears or concerns, stressing that the functional changes for players will be limited; the same people are in charge of the game's development as before. What it will mean, chiefly, is that the studio has more money to spend on updates and improvements to the game. Whether or not more of the game will change over time remains to be seen, but the current statement is a definite no.

Warframe's Archwing update hits consoles

Ready to go to space in Warframe? Just kidding! You're already in space. The whole premise is robotic space ninjas, after all. But the Archwing update that just dropped for consoles yesterday lets you slip past obstacles like "not being able to fly in space" by... well... allowing you to fly in space. The Archwing is a harness that lets you fly in space. This, from a practical standpoint, means that you get to enjoy spaceflight antics without spaceships.

Aside from the eponymous Archwing systems, the update also adds a new (equally eponymous) Warframe, more visual customization options, and a new reputation system allowing you to represent one of six Syndicates. So if you're floating about on consoles with Warframe, you too can now enjoy all of the fun of spaceflight without a spaceship. Hopefully not including the harness accidentally detaching whilst you're accelerating, leading your body to go hurtling off into space at a trajectory you can no longer control forever.

Warframe : Celebrates the Arrival of "Wyrmius"

Posted Jan 25, 2015

What's been missing from cooperative third-person shooter, Warframe? Why, a retro, side-scrolling minigame of course! Developer Digital Extremes remedies that lack this week with the addition of "Wyrmius," a 1980's-arcade-style minigame that gives players the chance to blast enemies with Wyrm's signature laser rifle.
To commemorate the game, DE created this faux retro commercial that should take some of us back to Saturday mornings when TV gave us all new reasons to pester our parents for new stuff.
