Wasted Potential: Actors that Should Have Been Superheroes

Before Batman and Robin, there were several actresses I thought would have made a good Poison Ivy

Marcia Cross, then of Melrose Place, and later of Desperate Housewives was someone I thought would have made a great 90s era Poison Ivy, though she didn't have the "big name" aspect WB was going for then for Batman casting.

Still, her performance in Melrose Place showed me she could play crazy, sexy, intelligent , and intimidating all at the same time.

Tea Leoni of Bad Boys and Madame President would have also made a great Pamela Isley back then imo.
But, like Cross, she didn't have the star factor back then.

Nicole Kidman was actually another actress I had in mind for Poison Ivy until she was cast for Batman Forever

Another choice of mine back then, though based more on her looks then her acting , was supermodel turned actress Angie Everhart .
I think she only did a few movies at most, but she certainly looked the part in The Tales from the Crypt film.

Melinda Clarke of The OC, CSI, and Xena would also have made a pretty good Poison Ivy imo

With the release of the She-Hulk trailer, it reminds me that Calista Flockhart , of Ally Mcbeal, would have made a great Jennifer Walters in the 90s.

Given the state of CGI then, They probably still would have had to have another actress or fitness woman play the actual She -Hulk ala Bixby and Ferrigno .

I would have liked to have seen Adam Sandler as Plastic Man, in his own comedic film and/or as part of a Justice League cast.

Is it weird that I don’t particularly like Sandler, and I hate Plastic Man, but I would love to see this?

Speaking of Blonde 90s actors, I think Mark Paul Gosselaar , Zack Morris himself, would have made a pretty good early to mid 90s , teen version of Johnny Storm for a Fantastic Four family film.

He might fall into the " it's too obvious " category, but I think he would have fit that type of role like a glove.

I also think Party Of Five's Lacey Chabert would have made a good Kitty Pryde circa the mid 90s

He's been fan casted for years at this point for the role, but I think Michael Biehn would have made a pretty bad*** version of Cyclops in an 80s or 90s era X Men film.

I also think an 80s era Lea Thompson would have made a good Jean Grey

Hell yes. I want to believe in an alternate universe where those two played Scott and Jean. They would have been perfect for the Jim Lee era X-Men.

In terms of Magneto , I could see a few actors playing him in the 1970s and 1980s.

Christopher Plummer or Max Von Sydow would have made pretty good Magneto's imo.

And for a 90s Captain America film, I think Armin Mueller Stahl would have made a great
Abraham Erskine

Tom Welling would have made a great Superman :D

Always thought early 00s Mark Valley had a real Captain America vibe about him.

I still think older Josh Hartnett would make an interesting Bruce Wayne/Batman, young Josh Hartnett however would have been a solid pick for Dick Grayson/Nightwing

Ralph Fiennes would have made a pretty devious Red Skull in the 90s
Schindler%27s%20List.jpg

Brad Pitt would have made a pretty good Steve Rogers in the 1990s

And Daniel Day Lewis would have been perfect as a 1990s Loki

Had they gone the more traditional kid route for Robin in the 90s, Thomas Ian Nicholas would have made a good Tim Drake Robin.

In the 80s and 90s, I could see Iron Eagles Jason Gedrick as Nightwing

And I could see Stand By Me and Class of 1999 actor Bradley Gregg as an 80s era Jason Todd

In terms of Jim Gordon, I actually think John Carpenter alum Tom Atkins could have made a good 1980s era Gordon

And Robyn Lively would have made a pretty cool late 80s through mid 1990s Barbara Gordon/ Batgirl

Robin Lively. Forever known as the girl who friend zoned Daniel San in Karate Kid III. Lol. She brutalized him.

But hey, she makes a mean macaroni and cheese.

And yeah, she would’ve been a great choice for Barbara.

She did more damage than Mike Barnes ever could. :funny:.

Even as a child, watching the film in theaters , I was like , " Huh, that's odd, they're just going to be friends?".

It wasn't until recently that I discovered Lively was like 16 or 17 when they made the film , and at 27 ,Ralph was totally opposed to having an on screen romance with his under age costar.

Hence the friendzone was written into the story.

I also didn't realize she was Blake Lively's sister until recently.

I didn’t know any of this!

I do, however remember that the dude whose nose Daniel breaks at the club in that movie is played by the same actor who was Mitch in Real Genius.
