I don't think Watchmen will actually win any more than two, but I think they'll definitely make at least 3 nominations.

I doubt it will be nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. Besides tech nominations, I could imagine Crudup and Haley maybe getting nominated. They gave great performances.

Honestly? I don't think it was a very good adaptation. In terms of facts they were very faithful, but they seemed to miss the point of some of the things from the book when they carried them over into the movie. The way they did "Nothing ever ends" is a good example of that. They cut out a lot of the subtlety in the book.

Although its a better film, I'd say Watchmen has about as much chance as 300 at Academy recognition. A March blockbuster is not going to be acknowledged.

300 was far superior and more enjoyable to view than the Watchmen. The Watchmen has such a weak story and is moves along at such a slow pace.

Snyder did a fantastic job, however I will never watch this movie again.

Shocking how little it has made this weekend, this movie will not live up to expectations of the fanboys when it comes to boxoffice success.

The sad thing is, there are actually some really great performances in this film, which will go unnoticed due to all of it's other flaws.

I find it very doubtful that Watchmen would get the same Oscar buzz that TDK did. It doesn´t appear to be nearly as successful with critics and audiences. Previous superhero movies like Spidey 2 and X2 actually seemed to get a much better critical and audience response.

no oscar buzz for this well directed, well directed, well acted and visually beautiful piece of crap movie.

I fell asleep twice and I know 2 others in my party nodded off at least once. I could not stand the graphic novel but wanted to see this movie anyway, mainly due to Snyder dorecting. Good job Snyder but even your skill behind the lens could not salvage the film with such poor source material!

Fan hype means absolutely nothing to the academy, if it did, TDK would of been nominated. (Im not saying that in a pro-TDK nomination stance.)

And critical controversy, is more surrounded around the violence and aspects of the film, and none of those things did anything to help films like Fight Club or Passion of the Christ get academy noms.

This film is a one and done picture. It could of gotten some of the more artistic noms, if it wasn't released in the absolute worst time to release a picture for nomination consideration, but the Academy have a short track mind. Its either Summer-Winter films or bust mostly.

haley should be nominated for best supporting actor, but that won't happen.

this move will maybe get a few technical noms, if any.
