The Dark Knight WB to go with new marketing plan

That's because it's not a theatrical poster.

It's Reese's ad poster.

Well, they probably won't going to do stuff until May anyways. And the mourning period, at least for most people, will defintley be over by then.

I can understand some peoples fear on the exploitation angle, but if his performance is truly a breakthrough, the studio owes it to him to promote the film heavily and for him to be a part of that promotion.

And since the Joker is basically the star of this movie, for them to avoid the character in all future promotion is ridiculous.

How is going to continue the campaign? that is easy, the atention was over the joker, now is going to be around Batman!

I hope they still focus around the Joker though. I love me my :brucebat: but I love me some :hoboj: even more.

I think, looking on the sunny side of things, that we've been fortunate at how the marketing has been so far. We've had a good few months of Joker marketing, so I think it'll work out well if we have a bit more of Bats on show . . . and maybe some Dent, too.

Yeah, I actually been thinking it was about time for the marketing to focus more on Bats from now on, regardless of Heath´s death.

I think it's possible for a trailer during the Superbowl. I'm pretty sure Iron Man has a shot filled also.

Having not seen Superbowl adverts (we don't have television in the UK) I don't understand why it would be exciting... hows it different from any other TV spot?

Other than the millions of extra viewers of course...

So do you guys think we'll get a TV spot during the superbowl?

Probably not, at least if we do..it won't be focused around the Joker. Seeing how it will only be two weeks since Ledger's death, the general public might think that WB is trying to capitalize on it.

During the Super Bowl is when most companies unveil new commercials and try to wow the audience.

If the WB ran a spot during the game for The Dark Knight, I doubt it would be just the trailer that is already online.

Dont wanna sound like a pig but it might be wise to do a super bowl spot right now with buzz and awareness so huge. A good one would establish it as THE film of summer 2008.

I was thinking, and I'm hoping the viral can find a way to continue.

I know it's supposed to be the Joker pulling strings in real time, but we're all adult enough to know that Heath wasn't the one pulling strings, and that it was just genuis marketing.

I think if the viral was as mainstream as major advertising, then it'd be shut down. It being low key as it is, and only followed by hardcore fans...I think it can continue. Things will need to be changed, though, for sure if they can continue that is.

And I think as far mainstream marketing...just have less Joker. More Batman. And more of other characters we've seen nothing of. Focus a bit on Rachel, and Dent too. But, I'd say more Batman and less Joker as far who to market it around.

I wouldn't be bothered in the least, however, to still have heavy Joker ads. Joker likes to steal the spotlight from Batman...it just works for me.

But, I wouldn't be surprised if everything changes completely.

We're probably assured that it won't be a "Joker takes over the TV broadcast" kind of spot...it would be too soon for that, and I always thought that idea was a bit over-the-top myself anyway.

I was told that BB had a new trailer for the Superbowl, but I honestly don't remember...

They probably do. They did last time.

Wheter or not they pulled out this year, I dunno.

Yea it did, I remember when it aired.

First time we heard the line "Does it come in black?" As well as first few video shots of the Tumbler.

I agree I think it will have maybe a little joker in it but not much and I also tohught a joker taking over the broadcast was a bit 2 much we are talking about the same ppl who thought the moonites were bombs.

You're right. Maybe they'll go this route.

You know what i'd love to see, an all american hero type harvey dent for district attourney campaign video, which maybe gets interrupted, goes all screwey as its says i believe in harvey dent, then it we get the visual equivilant of the i believe in harvey dent too website, and maybe a joker laugh, then a black screen with the dark knight logo and a release date, could be short enough for superbowl, and would get us fanboys hyped. But it'll probably be a cutdown of one of the trailers we've had.

There will be no new Joker poster, there is no model, there will be no more promo shoots, there is no Joker

They take all thouse pics at once. They don't say oh we need a poster pull Heath back in and put him in make up and set up the studio. All that stuff is done. We could get a new poster

Yeah, the shots that they did was way before filming happened.

They do that, and then see if they like the actor in that type of attitude, make-up and clothing. And then they go into shooting the film
