The Dark Knight WB to go with new marketing plan

What Heath would've wanted or what his family and friends think is largely irrelevant. The court of public opinion is what counts now. If WB goes ahead with the supposed macabre Joker promotions it will look callous and make it seem like WB is capitalizing on his death.

They will stay below the radar for now, change up their promotional strategy and then in a few months when the shock has worn off they will go hardcore promoting this film.

That would seem like the smartest thing to go with, they will probably play is quiet for a few months then just maybe two months before its release kick up the advertising again and storm us all again.

wow a guy goes away from his computer and gets called out.... heres the source.. reliable? not sure...

UsWeekly reports that production on Heath Ledger's film "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" has completely shut down and crew members were let go. Heath was photographed above on the London set this past weekend. Production had moved to Vancouver this week where they were going to start blue-screen work for the next few months.

A source said, "We were supposed to start this weekend, but obviously they fired everyone today. They don't know yet what they are doing with the footage that was already shot."

Terry Gillian was directing the $30 million film. It also starred Tom Waits, Christopher Plummer and Lily Cole. It's the story of an ancient travelling show which arrives in modern London with a magical mirror that can transport its audience into fantastical realms of the imagination. Christopher played the title role and Heath played a mysterious outsider.

This isn't the first movie that has completely shut down for Terry. In 2000 production shut down on The Man Who Killed Don Quote starring Johnny Depp after one of the stars fell ill.

Heath was also working on making his directorial debut on "The Queen's Gambit." Ellen Page was in talks to take the lead role.

Warner Bros. has announced that The Dark Knight will keeps its release date of July 18th. Sources say that marketing was going to revolve around Heath's character, so that is being reworked.

The producers of Imaginarium have yet to issue a statement about the film's future, but you can guarantee it's done. Heath's involvement helped get most of the film's financing together.

Variety tend to know their stuff. It's a trade publication.
how the f_ck did you come up with that conclusion? I wish i had the time to go through your history on the site so i could judge if it were bad or good...

Dr. Peter Venkman: Yes it's true.

This man has no d!ck
Calm down.

don't worry "______"

Some people on here can be really arsey with their;

Source or ban
Pic or ban
Lock
Close
Ban
etc..... Mainly just kids though.

I think they should re-work the marketing. We all bat fans wouldnt mind seeing Joker everywhere still, but to the mass public this could backfire with people thinking it is insensitive. I personally was hoping to have Heath take over a superbowl spot, but I understand know that they probably shouldnt do that. It stings saying that, but its true.

Um... requesting a source is a legit, getting a picture is legit, locking threads that are worthless is legit, closing threads that have no purpose are legit, and banning people who dont follow the rules is what needs to be done.

You may need to go back and review the rules again, and if you don't like them go to IMDB where there aren't any.

im not angry.... just not a fan of having my name tossed in the mud....

So would it be best to consterate on a Harvey Dent Marketing Campaign? You know I wouldn't really mind that at all. Simply because they have shown us pretty much a lot of the Joker already it would be nice to see some promotion of Dent sense Nolan said he and and the Joker are the backbones of this movie.

Just don't think there's any need to hound people off the boards.

It's not hard to show a little compassion. Some people on here take delight in being really nasty to other people. Also, others congratulate posters on the nastiness of their insults.

No need for it really, especially seeing as the OP was just sharing information.

well whatever the tone the marketing campaign takes we know we have a tour de force performance by a one of a kind actor and I can't wait to see it.

Im pretty much fine with anything they go with, as long as its respectful.

There's loads of scope for Viral action;

Dent,
The vigilante batmen,
The gotham times,
Arkham.

It's a shame we probably won't get any more joker texts or websites, but the film does seem to have a rich array of characters who could make broadcasts etc... My money's on Dent.

Maybe some Dent, but I think they will save a lot of that for BB3 if done.

If this is true, there is no telling what they will exactaly change. Maybe not much. To me I'm betting for the first few months until around March/April if they had anything planned to be Joker-centric they will maybe change it. But after some time has passed I don't know if too much will be changed. He will still be in trailers and so forth thats for sure. Whether people want to hear it or not Joker has been said that he is 40-45% of the movie, he is a huge character in it and not some small role. He is one of the main pillars of the entire movie. So to cut it out of marketing won't do too much good.

At first to be sensitive I believe they will cut back on the Joker stuff, but I think when the time comes to get super hyped for the movie they will still use Joker to promote stuff.

To me I think it is a disrespect if not, Heath did this for us and he was most likley fine when they were doing all the Joker viral stuff previously. So I'm sure he would want some of the campaign to go on.

As I see it first few months yea I think they will lay off some what. But after I think they will continue marketing as planned to a point.
