Aright, throwing two new names out there. Spike Jonze and Joe Wright.

I'd like to throw somebody in there that has never done fantasy before. Let them stretch their creative legs.

That's one reason why I suggested Wright. He's done period pieces and he did Hanna, which I liked quite a bit.

Brad Bird, Edgar Wright, Martin Scorsese, Danny Boyle, Shane Black.

Damn it, you forgot Nolan. Every director list must include him by default or it's null and void. :argh:

Man, I wish Edgar Wright was doing TMNT. The fights, style and writing of Scott Pilgrim convinced me that he would've been great

Why not throw in Guy Ritchie here as well?

For actors I want Robin Williams, Catherine Denevue, Sean Connery, Robson Green, Tilda Swinton and Tim Roth. THAT'S random!

It doesn't need to be that tongue in cheek and stylized.

Has Kenneth Branagh been brought up yet?

No it doesn't. I don't think it has to be any of that either, but it's good direction to go in if you're drawing from the 80's cartoon. Might as well go all the way with it IMO. I'm not expecting any level of seriousness from this TMNT.

I don't mind these choices minus Black. But in all reality as long as it isn't Nolan...I don't seem him every doing something like this anyways.

TMNT has ALWAYS been tongue in cheek. It was a parody of grim and gritty comic books of the time, particularly Daredevil and Batman. The 80's show was the exact opposite. Nolan wouldn't want to do another big franchise film already, so he's off the list. Black could make the film fun.

I believe that when Spielberg was attached to Sorcerer's Stone, he wanted to move Hogwarts to the US and make a few other changes that Rowling didn't like.

Spielberg wanted to combine the books into one film which was animated and set in America.

Spielberg has said in hindsight that the approach WB took with Harry Potter was the right one.

Peter O'Toole and Bob Hoskins are both retired unfortunately.
Toole retired? He has two upcoming projects lined up for him.

Other suggestions for cast can be Haley Joel Osment, Emmanuelle Seigner, Drew Barrymore, John Malkowich, Rosie O'Donnell, Rosamund Pike.

But now it's something completely different within the same universe, that's actually set in America.
Maybe he still wants it animated? Then drop him and go for Jonathan Demme or Alan Parker (someone wanted directors who haven't done fantasy before).

Or why not Terry Gilliam. Rowling wanted him for the first Potter but WB didn't trust the visual genious enough to hire him.
Gilliam was later offered another Potter but turned it down with the explanation that WB blew their chance with him on the first film.
Does he still hold grudges against WB? I'm sure Rowling still wants him to do his take on her creation.

Brad Silberling did an amazing job on Lemony Snicket and PJ Hogan on Peter Pan. Should they be offered to direct?

If we want some directors who can capture the true British feel, Richard Curtis is a possibility. He can surprise us as much as Newell did.
Or Ken Loach, but he's too much social realism.

it took me some days to even find out about this news. i read it.

New York? :lmao:

Terry Gilliam actually had a meeting with WB in LA about directing one of the Harry Potter movies back in the day.

Gilliam talked about it on the One Show on the BBC. Gilliam said he knew WB was never going to let him direct it and were probably only talking to him to please JK and producer David Hayman but he thought he would go anyway as he could meet up with some friends while he was in LA.

Gilliam went into the meeting with the WB execs and despite telling himself not to get his hopes up got really excited and pitched his ideas. When he walked out the office he cursed himself for geting excited because he knew they would never let him direct it. Gilliam said his Harry Potter film would of been something like Alfonso Cuaron's Harry Potter movie.

I'm really intrigued by this whole idea. Basically what getting from reading this is that the film will be about the books author, who's a dude that's fascinated with magical creatures and will go out trying to document them.

So he's basically a magical Indiana Jones, who's fascinated with creatures instead of artifacts. You shoot the film in that kind of style and it could be awesome.

So in that sense, Speilberg could be a great choice.

Oh, I read somewhere that O'Toole had announced his retirement, guess that report was wrong, good to know.

You are such a character, Airwings. Suggesting Rosie O' Donnel based on potential casting choices from 12 years ago is a hoot.

Could A Quidditch Movie Be On The Way?

By Garth Franklin Friday September 27th 2013 02:14PM
Fans celebrated when "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. Pictures announced that the Potter screen universe would live on with an adaptation of her own 2001 book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".
'Beasts' though was just one of two 'faux textbooks' from the film series that Rowling turned into their own works in 2001 for British charity Live Aid.
The other was "Quidditch Through the Ages," a book which traces the history of the wizarding sport Quidditch, as well as the earliest broom-based games by a fictitious author named Kennilworthy Whisp.
Now, Bleeding Cool reports that Warners has registered several new trademarks for film and TV adaptations.
Those trademarks include the already announced 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' and that books fictitious author Newt Scamander. However, they also include 'Quidditch Through The Ages,' 'Kennilworthy Whisp,' and the names of several Quidditch teams within the book like 'Wimbourne Wasps,' 'Chudley Cannons,' and 'Kenmare Kestrels'.
There's even a registering of 'The Tales of Beetle the Bard,' the wizarding world fairytale book that was a key element of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".
This has led to speculation that another film might be announced revolving around the genesis of Quidditch, or that elements from the 'Quidditch' book could be incorporated into the 'Fantastic Beasts' film.
