Time to work on the spinneret.

This is a spider's:

I have an idea that I'll draw up and show you guys. It's different from the one that I made that will make the net spiral pattern. It relies heavily on knot theory and acetone evaporation. It will make a thin tangled cable.

I think that the clogging issue was caused by the straw that leads up to the coupler and tubing. This means that all of the propellant is used trying to create suction of the fluid. I think that the fluid should be gravity fed and pressurized from the top. That way all the work will be done by the weight of the formula.

the formula should also be more uniformly mixed with the acetone creating a more fine spinning solution.

edit: Basically the high molecular weight has to fight gravity to get up the tube. We want the opposite of that.

Before I post how to make the maximus that I've already created, I'm going to make an inquiry to a company about a rare part. Once I finish that, I'll show you guys how to make the maximus. I still haven't completed the minimus. It has a different requirement. I'll make sure that everyone can get the parts for the shooter before I post it.

the reason I want you guys to get this part is because it's important for the spinneret.

No problem, bud. ^^' Let's see. What left is there to discuss? We have a functional (albeit an easy to break) web shooter. I used a gallon tank, so the next move is 2 liter tank with gravity feed. The pressure comes from the top. This leads the fluid from the tank directly into a coupler into a line to a valve that is actuated by a flexible lever.

the spinneret is a new idea that forces the formula to knot into a rope fiber thing. I'll post a video of the explanation tomorrow. Along with a visual of the shooter, though firing it is going to be difficult until I clean it out.

Am I missing anything?

We have the shooter, the spinneret, and the formula. It's just a matter of improving now huh?

...

Anyway, here are somethings I recommend until I find the valve that will give us all of our results.

1.) Some kind of gothic style wide watch band.

http://www.amazon.com/Wide-Black-Leather-Wrist-Watch/dp/B000OVHTB8/ref=pd_sim_misc_3

2.) Polymorph. I used the 12 oz, but that is for like three or four shooters.

http://www.amazon.com/InstaMorph-Mo...UTF8&qid=1340906352&sr=1-2&keywords=polymorph

Those two things will provide a strong base for the shooters. The only things left are couplers, the tank, and the valves.

You can go without the watch band, but that's what will give you the movie style look. The polymorph isn't necessary either. It can be replaced with properly cut plexiglass and a strong putty/ adhesive.

The vigilante suit will be up in 70min.

cool. Yeah, I'd be interested to see that.have you found any solenoid valves that tickle your fancy?

Alright, I will upload the drawing and screenshot of the circuit simulator build into my album on the real web tech site. Also, the only ones that I can really find are the ones from the fischer-technik robopro sets, and they are about 1"x1"x1", with entry and exit tubes of about 3 millimeters in diameter and 1 centimeter in length, but I would think that these would be too big with too small of an exit valve... I used these in my POE class in school last year, when we did a unit on pneumatics, so I might be able to obtain some from there, or perhaps from the internet. I'll upload a picture of the solenoid valve onto the web tech site, in my album, if you want to see.
On another note, have you put up a video of your Maximus yet?

nah, I've been lazy. I need to clean it out first. Sounds good though.

Oh no! I'm so sorry, folks!
I wasn't spamming, but I posted that message in the wrong thread.
Sorry, sorry, sorry.

Very cool replica! My question to you WW do you know where can you purchase the materials for the web fluid formula. I was also analyzing his replica and it look like a black lighter casing for the cartridge. Wondering how muxh PSI can a lighter casing hold again? I know ypu addressed this situation a while back. But i think it's still possible to use the system of pneumatics in here or what? What the situation with that right now?

It depends on the fluid and what you want it to do.

I've kind of hit a dead end on progression, so I went online to see how spiders use their silk.

Some used it to climb, trap building, net building, (i kid you not) gliding, creating safety lines, underwater diving, and my favorite, simultaneous immobilize and poison (spitting spider).

So in light of that info, it really depends on what you want. For example, if you want strength, I don't have a ready answer for you. That's something that will have to be figured out by professionals (or me in later years). If you want climbing like the tarantula, then I'd focus on web shooter design and glove design. If you want to use it to immobilize, use elastyrene.

As for the lighter case, Reinforce it and it should be good. Seriously though, not a lot of fluid there. It's meant to hold pressurized butane, not fluid.

Finally....

What?

I don't really understand the, " But i think it's still possible to use the system of pneumatics in here or what? What the situation with that right now?" Could you please elaborate?

Because the maximus is the shooter, I got to work, I'm going to scrap minimus. Here are the prototype names for anything new.

noir shooter- based off of spiderman noir, these shooters are meant to splatter, not create webs.

Amazing shooters- make a strong polymer thread.

Weaver shooters- makes a net.

tech shooters- any like the web or wadaltmon's type shooters.

These are characterized by their spinnerets. Noir only has an opening. Amazing is the one I just posted a video about. weavers are the shooters that have to strands that wrap around the others. Tech shooters are the only ones that stand out as they use solenoid valves.

I'm working on the noir right now.

The estimated cost for a pair is:

polymorph (6 oz): 10$
helium valves(x2): 10$
straps: varies. 10-30$
parts from home depot: 20$

Total estimated cost: 50$ for a pair and a gallon tank (if you forget about shipping.)

this is the explanation of the new spinneret design and the cameo of the maximus design.

This is the kind of valve I used. Mine had 1/8" diameter, but with 1/4th, there are improvements, like ways to change the cartridges super quickly.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Maximus looks great! Are you going to be able to finish all of those webshooters before you leave for your mission in august?

I'm thinking of making cartridges out of 1inch tubing with a 2 way valve (for refilling) on one end, and a stopper at the other end. They will be slightly pressurized so it doesn't need to rely only on gravity to refill. it will connect to a 3 way connector. one direction will go to my pressure chamber (which is connected to my co2 cartridge and regulator) where the fluid will be ready for shooting. the other direction will go to my release valve. what do ya think? I'll make a drawing later.

I would like to see the pictures, as I'm a little confused as to what you mean. However it sounds good.

No, I'm not going to build all of them. I'm definitely going to build noir shooters (as they are just the shooters with no spinneret) and maybe the amazing shooters, as it will make it easier to fire, but I'm not using the weaver or the tech shooter. Those just defeat the simplicity of the design, and would cost too much.

Hey folks I'm going to the amazing spiderman premiere in Mexico and I'm planing to go with my web shooters because tomorrow I'm going to buy everything that I need
