I would love to try making a web shooter but i don't have any idea where to start from. I tried to read all posts here but i didn't understand a thing because i don't speak english a lot but i understand still a lot :) And i am also interested about Co2 shooter. could it be possible to use same co2 capsule that you can use in airsoft guns? because i have like 7 of them and if u ask me they are pretty powerful. But only problem there is that the capsules are closed and if you poke a hole on top of them they will probably explode or something... but when you put it in an airsoft gun there is something that opens it and uses the gas.... i have no idea what that is but i hope that this somehow helped or gave an idea or something :P

I had an idea to use a regular spray bottle.did not have webs though.

I feel this forum is starting to die down because people are leaving and finishing their webshooters, where is, I haven't even started a prototype. All I've done is make diagrams, draw, and right stuff that I've read on this forum and the webbing forum.

Yah, but I'm with yah! I havent bought or made a prototype yet. So we're together :)

i would like to work with you but i have alot to catch up.

What kind of shooters are you guys going to make?

I'm either making an ultimate spiderman webshooter or a 2012 amazing spiderman webshooter.

What items would you use to start a prototype? And where would you get them?
Thanks guys!

how are we going to generate the 8kv required for elecrospining without a huge backpack battery?

Hi, i'm trying to make a Steampunk Spiderman Costume much like the one pictured here

And was wondering how you would go about making a functional web shooter on that. i saw something posted about it earlier in the thread, I believe it was White_Widow posting about how to transfer silly string to smaller aerosol cans, but I'm kinda fuzzy as to how that would work, because that idea would have worked perfectly. Then I saw Symbiote_Man posting about a hot glue gun web shooter which would be totally doable as my costume will have a backpack where I could conceal a larger compressed air can, but then I'm wondering what would power the hot glue gun and plus it would take forever to heat up.

depends on the voltage, the more you have the faster it will heat up
but for power you would need either an outlet or a lot of batteries (again depending on the voltage you choose)

Hey guys, I'm back from vacation. I went to myrtle beach, and I didn't take my laptop. I must say, I can't answer all the questions in my inbox. I won't even try. too many. Yet, it's good to be back. I'm relaxed and have the mind of an arachnid. ^^

I've had a few ideas while out, but to tell you the truth, I don't think I can share any of them. I disappeared for a few days and no one did anything? Also, elementary questions seem to have been the primary focus.

Let me tell you guys what you need for parts:

four of these- 1/4" to 1/4" WIP reducer coupler.

one of these- Tee 1/4" female.

one of these- 1/4" male adapter. http://img.alibaba.com/wsphoto/v0/4...r-Jack-Coaxial-Adapter-F-TYPE-F-F-COUPLER.jpg

one roll of teflon tape: http://image.made-in-china.com/4f0j00lBSQuZqRsPpt/PTFE-Membrane-Tape.jpg

Pressure tubing: http://www.i-spraynozzle.com/pic/product_pic/High-Pressure-Nylon-Tube-8668.jpg

one- 1/4" schrader valve

one coke bottle- http://sarabeck.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/coke.jpg

one 1/2" drill bit

AND two of your own valves.

Until you understand how to put those together, I can't help you further. If you guys can't figure out how to do this, then you aren't physically capable of making a spud gun, let alone web shooter.

Hey, I'm new here. I thought it would be fun to join in and try to work on making something similar to a "web" shooter :D

I think that the best way to make a small, but still gets the job done shooter would be to use something similar to this pic.

This is a toy web shooter from 2002 that came in cereal boxes. You fill the red spider (pump) with water (or web fluid) and squeeze it, then it shoots out water or whatever you put in it. I think that this would be the easiest way to make a "small" shooter.

Guys, I just got a great idea. I will probably not use this idea (as my web is more of a thin cone, for me it is more versatile), but it allows for one to change the shape of web incredibly easily. More explanation and drawings soon.

i hade the idea of using hot glue. just to play with it lol. but i cant use co2, becuase when i heat up the glue the co2 comes in and would just freeze it.. big problem

Well, welcome guys.

To BB: that was my favorite toy growing up! ^^ The only issue with it is the viscosity of the fluid. Symbiote's host created one like that.

To everyone else: I want to talk for a second about polyethylene. The strongest polymer fiber that has been created is the Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. It has 15 times the tensile strength of steel. To be clear, this is the same material that coke bottles are made out of. We don't have the solvent that it takes to dissolve polyethylene, but here's the thing: Listen to this excerpt from a UHMWP website.

"Gel spinning of HPPE fibres is a process that hinges on mechanical and physical parameters, not on chemistry."

That basically means that the difference chemically between polyethylene in a coke bottle vs the polyethylene in a bulletproof vest is in how you prepare it. That means that spinning the polymers can determine that big of a difference. We can generate heat and use a solvent. Dry spinning, Electrospinning, and Gel spinning are the only methods we can replicate.

We need to separate this build into two parts: The shooter and the spinneret.

Who wants to take what?

Hey, I'm still barely staying afloat amidst all this cool engineering, and I'm really sorry to lean on you guys (especially without contributing; I'm saving up for parts and the like and still learning), but would it be possible to fire a thread instead of a fluid? If so, is there a simple way to do it? And how would you coat the front of the thread with adhesive as it flies out of the shooter? Again, I'm really sorry for this and I'm learning as fast as I can.
