Well, welcome guys.
To BB: that was my favorite toy growing up! ^^ The only issue with it is the viscosity of the fluid. Symbiote's host created one like that.
To everyone else: I want to talk for a second about polyethylene. The strongest polymer fiber that has been created is the Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. It has 15 times the tensile strength of steel. To be clear, this is the same material that coke bottles are made out of. We don't have the solvent that it takes to dissolve polyethylene, but here's the thing: Listen to this excerpt from a UHMWP website.
"Gel spinning of HPPE fibres is a process that hinges on mechanical and physical parameters, not on chemistry."
That basically means that the difference chemically between polyethylene in a coke bottle vs the polyethylene in a bulletproof vest is in how you prepare it. That means that spinning the polymers can determine that big of a difference. We can generate heat and use a solvent. Dry spinning, Electrospinning, and Gel spinning are the only methods we can replicate.
We need to separate this build into two parts: The shooter and the spinneret.
Who wants to take what?
