Welcome to Earth One!

I don't think DC will be getting Greg Rucka to do much of anything for a while.

I wonder what happened between them? Its pretty clear something went wrong behind the scenes.

I don't know what the specifics are, but yeah, I'm pretty sure someone or something at DC editorial rubbed Rucka the wrong way or vice-versa.

Yeah, it was more or less the same stuff that other writers have commented on in jumping ship with bad editorial experiences. For Rucka, it apparently even went all the way back to his Wonder Woman run from what he said when he split. It seemed he didn't want to outright burn bridges like some writers have done pretty unabashedly, so he didn't go into full details, but I'm sure there was more going on.

Rucka wasn't allowed to write his own stories and events after events just kept tiring him out. I don't understand how DC can say "no" to Rucka when the man PROVIDES alot of cash to them. Okay okay, Gotham Central sales did suck, but Batwoman was selling like hot pancakes! (Rucka wanted to do Alice's origin)

Well, I don't think it's just a case saying 'no'. Editorial can frustrate you in other ways. The event thing, like you said, dragging their feet on projects, pressuring (or outright demanding) changes, etc.

Shame. But hey, maybe Stumptown will start releasing more than two issues a year now.

Was Batwoman selling alot for them? If so thats impressive considering how hard it is these days for more obscure characters to gain attention. The book deserved it tho.

Williams' art probably played a big role. It was utterly gorgeous, even though it did sometimes get in the way of the story.

Yeah the book was on top 10-15 with a 3.99 price tag. :)

I'm glad I tradewaited on that. If it's as good as Queen & Country, I couldn't possibly wait with that schedule.

Yeah, it did sell well, but there were a lot of factors really. It had Rucka and Williams (both are good attention getters in their own right), it came out in Detective Comics (which had been selling well before hand), and it came off the whole Batman Reborn mini-event that was happening at the time.

Hope that the ongoing sells as well

:csad:

And that's terrible

It's fantabulous. Dex practically leaps off the page, Rucka imbues her with so much genuine personality and realism.

Too excited for this. Since I saw the cover art, I couldn't wait to get it. The artwork looks amazing, I'm really into that style. I could almost see Snyder making the movie like it in a way...

OCTOBER 27TH! :D Not too far away.

Nah it's October, but as you can see it's very close to November. :P

Nah thats coming in 2011, because Gary Frank is slow. :D

Yeah, Amazon has it listed for November. But I was looking through a recent GL comic and it advertised Superman: Earth One for OCT 27th. :D I already got my copy pre-ordered.

Has there been any word on the release date of Batman: Earth One? Or if they're going to make this a new line of GN's, like doing a Green Lantern: Earth One, or Wonder Woman: Earth One, etc?

Batman release date is all depending how fast Gary Frank is, and the other OGNs will depend how Superman does in sales, and likely how Batman does too. Batman will ofcourse easily sell alot. :p

Actually this is an ongoing series. I wish they would only do the GN format for the origin and then do single issues for the series I hate waiting this long for a book.

I can't wait for this story. I'm hoping it's the first take on the origin that I'm completely satisfied with.
