Eh, from what I've read of this book that's exactly what it's doing. Modern Supes comics have been rehashes of the old in fresh paint. Fans can flame what JMS has been changing, but at the very least he's actually translating the mythos to a modern context.Wake me up when instead of doing the 30 millionth cover version of the origin they actually take Superman forward in an interesting way. Best origin in years was in All-Star Superman.
Also, don't you mean Secret Origins by Geoff Johns? I don't recall All-Star covering his origin. If so, your complaint and subsequent appraisal comes off as a bit hypocritical. As much as I liked that arc, it did nothing but pick-and-choose everything we've already seen and put it in a nicer package.
