Were Expectations Too High for SM3?

My expectations were high and I was kinda let down. The movie was good but I was hoping it would exceed Spiderman 2, which it didn't. Hopefully some deleted scenes are thrown in or a directors cut comes out. It seems a bit rushed.

Mine were high, but the lowest of a Spider-Man film. Thought it was going to be the weakest, but it was my 2nd favorite, and gets better to me with subsequent viewings!

They actually filmed that dude, I just saw a pic of it. That scene in the film is a reshoot.

Personally I think it would have been best to have a scene with Sandman with his family, we get the sense that Eddie is watching him from afar. Flint walks into the alley and they keep that confrontation scene.

where the hell did you fnd this pic? If this from "the making of" book?

God I hope there is a special edition with numerous added / alternate scenes.

No, expections weren't too high. After the critical and commercial success of the first two, an even bigger budget, new and more ambitious story elements, and a terrific cast, many of us had every right to expect this to be the second coming. Sadly, it didn't quite deliver.

You have essentially proven that expectations were set way too high for this movie to, realistically, ever deliver on. Were people right to anticipate this movie? Of course. Like you said, the first two were great and there was a lot going into this one. But once you start hyping it (or any film for that matter) as "the second coming," disappointment becomes inevitable.

I was exaggerating....just a bit.

The point was, the masses who expected this to be the biggest, baddest superhero film yet produced had every right to feel that way based on all of the reasons previously stated.

My expectations were average (in case I would be disapointed because I set the bar too high) and so was the movie in fact.
It still has its good moments, but it is definately the weakest of the trilogy.
I will never have a reaction like after Spider-Man 1 again. Great expectations fully satisfied. I was so thrilled, a good superhero movie in the genre of Batman 1989 but with incredible effects and characters rendition.

Super high.

The look of the movie, the themes of the movie. The general direction and ending of the trilogy seemed for one of the best movies ever.

...but nope, they managed to screw it up!

I think I got mine up too high. I mean, still, looking at the Comic Con trailer again, I still get excited, even though I've seen the movie 8 times. We just need an extended cut.
