What accents do you like/hate?

I’m from VA, but don’t have a southern accent. And really, there are several types of southern accents, but like there are several “English” accents. I don’t mind the type of “gentleman southern” accent, where there is good pronunciation but with a slight southern twang to it. But I can’t stand the stereotypical “SOUTHERN” accents you see hicks have in movies; the “Hey yall” and “going to the store, yunt to?” crap. Where I live, no one has an accent, but drive into the next county and your ears will bleed.

Oh god yes. I hate Southern Maryland accents. "Warshington", "Murrlan", "Bal'more". Don't like heavy Georgian accents either. Like that cooking lady Paula Deen. Oh, and Sarah Palin's accent. I've never heard an Alaskan accent before her, but now I hate it.

I do like New York, Irish, Scottish, British, and Australian accents.

Southern and Cockney accents tend to make people sound stupider, British accents tend to make people sound more knowledgable, etc.

Birmmingham (one of the largest cities in midlands of England) is voted the most dumbest sounding British accent in the UK.

Ozzy Osbournes accent is a Birmingham accent.

Yeah there are lots of different British accents. In the countries that make up Britain - England, Scotland and Wales alone there are many accents.

I find Welsh accents on girls cute. French accents are kind of sexy.

Hate Scouse (Liverpool) accent its really harsh sounding.

There isn't really an American accent I hate or Love they are all cool with me.

I hate a lot of accents. Most prominently, English accents.... actually, any kind of British at all. I. Can't. Stand. Them.

Certain Irish accents can annoy me, because a lot of people make themselves sound like cousin ****ers on purpose.

I, like a number of Irish people talk in what I would consider a regular Irish accent, then you've got...What the British people would call ''chavs'' or what Americans would prefer to as ''gangsta's''. Some country people are just as bad. Not even I can understand such baffle.

Dublin accent can be annoying too, as well as city people forcing this horse accent country people have.


Polish accent can get annoying. Some Polish sound like a deaf person speaking.

I really dislike the Indian and Belfast too.


I do like Southern American, California, Toronto and Scottish accents.

I was referring to any kind of British accent in my post. I know there are many of them but they all irritate me, some are just more tolerable than others.

Excuse me for being relevant to the thread. And as a matter of fact, I never even brought it up myself on call -- other users have always commented on it first. I don't hang around shouting "IHATEBRITSIHATEBRITS" over & over just because I can. If someone brings it up that I find them annoying, then yeah, I'll agree. And they were only saying that because you recently joined and it reminded us. If I remember correctly I think I've spoken/typed with you briefly before you left, and I was very nice to you. I can't help what annoys me just as you can't help being a brit.


Edit// Oh, by the way, I realized this week that I really don't even like an average American accent. I'm American & I don't like my own voice (which doesn't have a distinctive American accent, just a general one). Bleh. We sound nasaly and whiny.

Actually....they're very similar....

and actually, it's BAHSTIN, not Baahston.

I deal with it on a daily basis, drives me nuts. But fortunately, I don't have it myself.
