what are the top three F P S games for XBox 360

At the end of the day, you are all wrong, because Gears of War has won more GOTY awards than I can remember, and Rainbow Six: Vegas won basically nothing. Gamerankings.com and Metacritic, which calculate reviews of all games, lists Gears of War well over R6V.

Bwahahaha.

Enjoy your bad taste, you're out of touch with the industry.

Rainbow Six Vegas is a great game and I can see why some enjoy it more than Gears of War, because it is a more methodical, tactical shooter and can often get every bit as intense when it comes to firefights.

Sure, Gears of War won all those GOTY awards because on a purely technical level, it is superior, no doubt about that. Not to mention the fact that I think it offers a more complete package. But R6 Vegas is amazing in its own right, in its own way. The greatness of one game is not taken away by another. Each one is capable of standing on its own merits. And Vegas definitely deserves a spot on this list.

Yeah overall I take Vegas over Gears as well. Gears is awesome, its fun. But online, Vegas is just so much better, at least from my experiences. Sure its not as graphically advanced as Gears, but then again, what other game out right now for the 360 is? I agree, the cover system is smoother in Vegas than Gears as well too. It just works better overall, you have more freedom. And the fact that you can put your face online using the Vision cam is another plus, as well as the ranking system and armor customization. As a whole, its just more fun.

Are we all forgetting that GEARS IS NOT A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER???

Gears plays smoother, has a stronger campaign, is more exciting due to it's nature and honestly the gunfights in Rainbow Six Vegas are piss-poor.
That's not at all a fair argument, they are not at all trying to present the same feel. I have a ****load of fun in both games, and they are both extremely well made. And to be honest, I don't find the graphics of Gears that amazing, they just took alot of care with their textures, something other games should do. But the game is not a realistic game, so I hate it when people say it looks real. No, it doesnt, it looks very stylized, like a very toned down version of Crackdown.

By all means, Rainbow Six Vegas is a great game. I personally enjoyed it in the sense that I enjoyed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. It deliberately forces you to be careful, requires that you think two steps ahead, and always has you thinking about death. Nothing wrong with that from a good game experience perspective.

However, it doesn't have the intuitiveness that Gears of War or Halo has. It's obviously more accessable than the first two Rainbow Six games, but even so, it's not a FPS in the sense that you get together and play LAN games with your friends, or play it to relax.

When I think of a FPS game that I can really recommend, I think about the feeling it gives you. I'm not saying it has to be Serious Sam, with you running 100 mph and shooting rockets all over, but the widely appreciated FPS games like Halo, Half-Life and Unreal all give you a sense of "power" rather than "survival". Even Prey had that. Not to say I'd ever recommend "Prey" over R6V, but I wouldn't be surprised if after showing my friends both games, if they'd rather play Prey. Again, I'm not saying that's my preference, but from my experience, that's how it is.

That's why I can't fully recommend it.

Likewise, I know a good number of players who'd gladly sacrifice intuitiveness for greater depth, something that Rainbow Six Vegas and GRAW have over Gears of War. Of course, titles like Halo and Unreal have their place for the instant gratification of the twitchy-fingered gamer in us all. But even after countless sessions of deathmatches and capture-the-flag, sometimes one wishes if there was more to the game...something that would give you a real sense of accomplishment.

And make no mistake - it is not a rare thing for the games that are deliberately slower and more methodically paced to be the ones that are the most intense. It's a great alternative for those of us who don't mind investing the time and effort to really get down and dirty with the game.

I think 3rd and 1st person shooters are two similar to really differentiate between them. It's the same concept, running around with a gun and shooting bad guys.
I don't personally see them as that similar. I prefer 3rd person as you can get more involved with a character.

"The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay" which they're also making a remake of due the end of this year.
.

OH MY LORD the Riddick game on XBox was AMAZING. great graphics, gameplay-it was the total package so thanks a lot for this tidbit of info. I'm pumped for 'The Darkness' now.

:)

In case you two haven't heard, they are remaking Riddick for the 360.

I have heard, and life is officially good again. I can't wait to see the final product, as leaked media has been basically the same graphics. I guess that's because for now, their big focus is on adding multiplayer.

That game was so good I actually bought the Riddick Trilogy for $13. It wasn't bad. I liked Pitch Black, and it's sequel was pretty good too. I never thought I'd say this, but "Vin Diesel has done a good job."

Most of Vin's good movies are the ones in which he does the least amount of talking. Except for Find Me Guilty, that was pretty good.

I actually really want to see that movie... out of morbid curiosity. I remember seeing a clip of it on "The Soup" a while ago and I've been ironically interested ever since.

It's pretty decent as far as mob comedies go, as old as it is, you could probably catch it on HBO or get a cheap rental somewhere.

Pitch Black is an excellent sci-fi movie. Even it's sequel was pretty good, although nobody went to see it. I was looking forward to the final film. :csad:

I've had the most fun thus far with the Halo 3 beta. Call Of Duty 2 & 3 were fun, but I personally think the third was unnecessary; they should've worked more on the "modern warfare" concept that's gonna drive CoD 4 and have that out earlier than it will be instead of delivering what amounted to CoD 2 with slightly better graphics. Condemned was fun, but that's more like a first person horror game than a first person shooter. Rainbow Six: Vegas was also very fun, but I prefer the more action-packed Campaign than the multiplayer, which bores me for some reason. Perfect Dark Zero was alright but didn't live up to my expectations. I haven't played F.E.A.R or Prey, but they're both on my GameFly queue so I'll up date this list when I do (aside from demos, where I preferred F.E.A.R). I have a feeling that at least one of the new FPS this month (Call Of Juarez, Shadowrun, and - most of all - The Darkness) is going to drastically alter this list soon enough.

1. Halo 3 beta
2. Rainbow Six: Vegas
3. Call of Duty 3

In case you two haven't heard, they are remaking Riddick for the 360.

Basically they're gonna re-make a game that should've sold a lot of copies before but didn't so 360 owners that owned an Xbox and Riddick before are going to have to buy it again instead of just making it backwards compatible.

Simple solution: Nothing extra worth buying it again, don't buy it. There, problem solved.

Right, if they are any good, then buy it.

Come on, it's Starbreeze making the extra levels and Multiplayer. It's not like they gave development over to... say... Traveller's Tales (those horrible Spyro games) and hoped for the best. None of that. It's the original team. It will rule. I promise. :D

Hmmmm

1. Rainbow Six (soon to be Halo 3)
2. Far Cry Pred
3. Prey

Yeah, me too. Though Pitch Black beat the heck outta Riddick.

Alright you guys have convinced me. Im going to pick up Rainbow Six Vegas from Ebay

jonesing for The Darkness now...i've read some blurbs and it's sounding right up my alley.
