Personally, I'm no huge Hulk fan, all though I have absolutely nothing against te green fella either. I'm anticipating this film quite a bit... I see a lot of talk on this forum about people already losing hope, believing this movie is already ruined. Why? Everything I'm hearing sounds freaken awesome! You guys should be proud (so far, at least). It'll be a big giant smash kind of flick, like TansFormers was, only this movie seems to actually provide a cool solid story too!;)

When you're sitting there in theater about to see this movie, than what will ruin/save it for you guys?

Like I said, what I'm heaing about the movie so far sounds insane, so if it's just half of what it sounds like to be, than the movie is saved for me, if only HULK actually looks REAL this time! Anyone else afraid that the Hulk will look like a giant fake version of SHREK, like he did in the first? Does anyone know if they're also using aimatronics for the creation of Hulk this time around!?

Ruin: Uninteresting scenes between action scenes, based on what Gotham said in the other thread. Overly humorous tone would not help, either.
Save: Good use of the main actors involved and good fight sequences, plus good story/ character development.

^ I agree that the humour should not take over ****... I hate when that happens too. But a couple of good solid humour moments without going cheasy is allowed, I'd say.

Example!

Superman Returns never ones had over the top humour, it was well balanced! You didn't ones fist your toes because it was akward!

Spider-Man 3 had some of that unfortunately!

And the Fantastic Four movies are FULL of those moments!

Indeed. Humor is essential in any movie imo, no matter how dark or heavy it is. They just shouldn't overdo it.

What will save this movie for me is if the leaked draft is a very early draft and has since been changed.

The origin of the Hulk is one of the most memorable and classic origins in comic history. Everyone say its out dated and wouldn’t work today. I ask WHY? Someone said they’re trying to be politically correct. And suicide is politically correct? I know that we’re, once again, not going to get The Hulk origin in this movie, I just hope they take out the injecting himself with the serum crap.

Banner trying to kill himself is out of character. If this is done correctly it can work and portray the struggle between Banners and the Hulk. .

The Hulk or Abomy not talking is a big mistake.

Someone one dying as a result of the Hulks actions, in defense or not, is wrong. Part of what makes the Hulk the Hulk and not a monster, is that he doesn’t want to hurt anyone or would he kill anyone. Even though he’s not Banner he still is part of Banner and Banner would not kill and would be devastated if someone lost their life as a result of him. People get hurt when trying to capture the Hulk but not killed. The Hulk always said “Leave Hulk alone or Hulk will smash you!” Never did he say “or I’ll Kill you.”

Basically, this movie is over for me. I had High Hopes but not anymore. It’s sad when a long time Hulk fans (30+ years) is more than likely going to wait for the DVD.

So the Hulk and Abomy dont talk at all in the movie?

That is Maddness!

Man I know Fantastic Four Fans will get on me for this one... but I've always seen them as the goofy cheesy heroes, it was part of their charm. I have no problems with the films besides a mis-cast doom, Jessica Alba, and Cloudactus... though in the second film I felt they fixed doom, a teeny tiny bit.

I said this at Spider-man 2 and 3, but there I was... right there, midnight showing. :csad: and well, I am only a fan of these characters for 14 years, since before then I was just a toddler who couldn't even read :oldrazz:

I don't do midnight movies anymore. I can't stay up that late. :oldrazz: :woot:

(spoilers ahead)
I know exactly how its being done and must say you will find no comparison to the 2003 version other than the name, lol. This guy is greyish green and way different. Even his transformation is different. You guys wanted a scary change, you got it (spoiler, DO NOT READ IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW):
PULSE MONITOR: literally racing up through 180…200...
BLONSKY’S NIGHT VISION: The green cluster of figures, one
crumpling, and one falling and suddenly…
A GREEN PULSE OF LIGHT CUTS ACROSS THE NIGHT VISION
RADIATION SENSOR LED's: SPIKE into the RED.
VAN: RADIATION COUNTERS SPIKE and ROSS bolts forward in his chair.
BLONSKY: Rips night vision off his head. What the hell was that?
Signals 'hold'.
BRAZILIAN TOUGHS, turning, all stepping away from Banner crumpled
invisible down in the dark out into floor to investigate, two
looking at their friend on the ground starting to freak.
TOUGH GUY: What the hell...?
COMMANDOS in the dark trying to get a fix on what's happening they
hear… Cabot on the com in their ears...
CABOT: Is target neutral? Did we get a shot?
TEAM 2 NIGHT VISION POV: through the obscuring forest of metal,
the cluster of figures, some stepping toward 1st Team (where the
dart came from)., one lying still (the downed Brazilian), but the
other… the hardest to see... very dim even in the Night Vision
but...
23.
...something is happening to that one…dim and obscure behind the
other figures etched in green…
THE SHAPE OF THE FIGURE ON THE GROUND IS CHANGING
BRAZILIANS: Banner's groan in the dark, turns into a horrible anguished sound…with it the sound of tearing and popping and cracking...

Well, personally I loved the first film, and something that would (at least in part) "save" this movie for me would be if it could be connected to the first one without too much strain.
I know they want to make it seem like a reboot, but if they just make all references to origins and the history of the characters (and so on) vague enough that I could "pretend" this is a direct sequel, this would go a long way for me to accept this movie.

Well, judging from the script review, there are not many contradictions between these 2 films. Only the origin contradicts the Ang origin, but if you read the rest, you could defintely see a sequel in it.

Total Agreement.:woot:

Hulk will be CGI for most of the movie and animatronics for some parts; probably close ups and when Hulk is with other characters.

^ that's all I'm asking for! The blend of animatronics AND cgi can create magnificent results! Just look at Doc Ocks arms in Spidey 2!

From a comic fans pov the things that can ruin this movie for me are repeating the mistakes of the past.
Making the Hulk near mute, and as such sorely lacking in any character of his own, is one of them. Making him too damn big would another, though from what I understand they are at least capping him at around 9ft this time around.

Now the TV show had excuses for making the show the way they did: Budget restraints limited 'Hulk time' so the show was always far more about Banner. The Hulk was just a plot device that showed up twice an episode for a few minutes.
Ang Lee though didn't have the luxury of citing budget for his mistakes, he made a dull film and a right hash of the Hulk himself. The guys on this film, having seen the mistakes Ang made, definitely have no excuses.

As for what could 'save' this film?
All that would take is for someone making these films to take a good look at the books and realise that Stan Lee might just have been on to something with the decisions he made there. It ain't rocket science...

What will ruin it for me?
I don't know, it would have to be something crazy like them making the Hulk blue or something. Maybe not all my expectations/hopes are going to be met, but that's ok, I'll watch the Hulk in any form! :hulk:

What will save it for me?
Rick Jones vs Jack McGee. You know you want to see it!

Ruin the movie :
- like people have said , humor that just doesn't work ala SPiderman 3
- Pacing. From what we've read there will 3 moments when Hulk comes into action. Between these moments they should have proper pacing and not drag the movie.
- Forced scenes
- LOve scenes that just are too OTT.

Will Rock the movie :
- Action. Complete and utter carnage
- Hulk looking like a brute and not a steroid version of shrek
- A realistic looking hulk
- Ditto with Abomination

Regardless of the no talking news, I'm still fully on board with seeing this movie! I know it will still be enjoyable so I can't say that it's ruined, but it really does bother me with no end, that both characters won't be talking.

What was suggested if the script spoiler thread, I don't know if it's a fact, is that Louis tried some test animation and didn't like how it turned out, thus making the decision that they won't be talking. Disappoints the hell out of me. I beg they try harder. I know their busy with trying to get the film done, but hell, if it would help, I'll quit my job to help pull it off successfully!:cwink:

Seriously though, I don't know which is more annoying, the fact that the main characters now don't talk, or that because so many people who were introduced to TIH through the TV show, feel it's right he dosn't talk!

The fact of the matter is despite how you "think" is sounds wrong, that's the way it's supposed to be. Also note that Hulk doesn't have to constantly refer to himself, 3rd person. Anyone who trully reads the comics, knows that. So go find the right voice actor and create the right sound, pitch, tone etc. And redo the animation, until it's cool as hell! That's what I'm willing to do, why don't the people involved with this project feel that way, rather than just giving up? Like another person said, "It's NOT Rocket science."

Basically this movie sounds like a modern version of the TV show.
I'm a Hulk fan! I know I'll like or even love the movie, but I truly feel like I'm only getting half the meal, rather than what was on the Menu. It'll be like "wow! That was fantastic!....if only he talked." Until it finally happens, that's the way it'll always be no matter how awesome the movie is.

Ruin: Overabundance of scientific mumbo jumbo, bad humor, weak story, a hulk that jumps 300 ft in the air (I don't care if its in the comics)

Save: action, realistic looking Hulk, Ed Norton

How about scaling buildings ala Ultimate Hulk?
