Im not sure if his story is ever really told like this in the comics but I love the idea of (In Thawne's mind anyway) he is a villain of necessity. He needs to continually expose Barry to atrocities, suffering and hardship because that in his mind is the only way to make him a better hero. I think there's a really interesting story to be told there of a villain who does not in the typical sense sees himself as the hero but more sees himself as the reason for the heroes development.

You are talking about Hunter Zolomon there, not Thawne. Flash CW Reverse-Flash was a combination of both Thawne and Zolomon from the comics. Personally, I think they elevated both characters.

Gotcha I know a lot of my knowledges of him was from the show so thought it would be different.

Ra's al Ghul is a great shout-out. Perfect for a pulp, Indiana Jones-esque type of movie.

Lex Luthor make it similar to The Social Network in terms of studying man behind the Luthor Empire and how he worked his way up the ladder but his true intentions are slowly revealed as the film progresses.

Ra's Al Ghul (done properly this time) could follow a Lawrence of Arabia feel.

Darkseid could easily be like the movie Ché with Benicio Del Toro showing his rise to power or it could go in a darker direction in the vein of Schindler's List showing his enslavement and genocide of people and planets.

Bizarro could easily be a comedy but I don't think it would find an audience for depicting essentially a mentally challenged Superman.

Solomon Grundy could easily be a horror movie similar to Frankenstein.

Penguin could be a mob movie through and through--think The Departed.

An adaptation of Selina's Big Score. Imagine Ocean's 11-style heist film with Catwoman, who leaves Gotham due to some "problems" to hit it big, then at the end, decides to return and see "an old flame".

It's difficult to pinpoint I think, because we most villains we meet via the hero films are given a cause and background, though it might not be as detailed as the hero. A good number of villains have also had their limelight in recent years too;

Penguin & Riddler via the Gotham show
Zod via the Krypton show
Deathstroke via CW's Arrow
Thawne via CW's Flash

We've (kinda) got a Joker solo coming up, the Black Adam solo is expected to start filming in 2020, and we've got a Lobo show that's been green-lit to better establish that character as the antihero(?) that he is.

Honestly, above all else, one group I think the CW hugely missed out on was the Rogues; Captain Cold, Heatwave, Golden Glider, Weather Wizard and Mirror Master specifically. I'd love to see a heist-type film involving this group and their dealings with the Flash, but I'd have it told through their perspective only; we'd never meet Barry Allen, only ever the Flash.

Maybe launch the film with a robbery in which they're victorious, follow it up with a second robbery in which they're apprehended (some of them at least), then a prison escape, to follow that up with a big Heist or something at the end where lives are on the line, and The Flash manages to talk them around into sparring lives, but they ultimately get away with a big financial win somehow.

A Penguin movie could be cool. A mafia crime film with select comic book elements.

I feel like a Lex Luthor film would work even better than a Joker movie. That character is so incredibly complex and multi-faceted; the only one left that really justifies his own film - especially since it'd be hard to fully explore him in a Superman film considering he's always the third most important character there

I dont think there will be another movie like joker, with the villain being the protagonist.

I think after joker´s success (its sure guys) they will go the autheur way, elseworld type. By twisting the look and feel, point of view more of character, good or bad or both, in a more independant approach.

Plus its the best way to differenciate itself from MCU. By appealing to a mature audience who wants innovation in storytelling.

Their future movies in this trend, if it becomes one, may not always becomes masterpieces but at least they will try being original and risky. I hope so.

Joker, Luthor, Sinestro, Deathstroke, Ra's al Ghul and Darkseid all have very good-great material that could be used. With Luthor, you could use Lex Luthor: Man Of Steel. With Deathstroke, you could tell his origin story from The Judas Contract, or even use Christopher Priests Rebirth run ( I think the a Netflix show would better to get the full potential from Priests run though). With Ra's al Ghul, you could tell his origin story based on Birth Of The Demon.
