So many things bugged me:
1. Spiderman's power level. Look, watched the movie again and verified that when Spidey was going up against Aleskei at the beginning he was in a regular tow truck, towing the armored car. Spidey could punch through a windsheild????? Sorry, that was lame, and a moment later he was catching a cop car.
2. Mad Dillon was terrible. Beyond cliche', with the whole high waters, greasy hair and glasses. The illusions of ganduer was a bit over the top. Sorry, but this was very annoying for the first half of the movie "Wait, she remembered my name."... argh!
3. The spiderweb's strength. Aleskei was able to just rum by and grab the container of plutonium, but Gwen later had to use her keys to cut her hand free and it was strong enough to hold a car flying through the air.
4. Waste of some very good actors. So far they have wasted Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, and Marton Csokas. Don't get me wrong, what Cooper and Feore did with their characters was good, but each could have been used much better. And Csokas' character deserves it's own rant...
5. Dr. Kafka! Pretty much the worst character in the movie (Max Dillon was a close second). Were they trying to make him androngenous since Kafka is supposed to be female, or did they not realize that we'd see the lipstick? Also, if and when they do bring in a Doc Ock, if it's per the comic then the two characters will be too alike. I get having the whole crazy scientist type thing, but they could have just made Kafka Doc Ock, some Engneer at Oscorp, or something like that, and it'd be good. Kafka was an epic fail and now Csokas has been wasted.
6. Where did Electro get the high tech outfit from? It just appeared all of a sudden with no explanation. And it has the ability to just dissipate into energy?
7. Why make Aunt May become a nurse? And why would she be at a hospital? She'd have to go to school for a while first, and there would be no hiding that from Peter. And why hide that from him anyway?
8. Harry's desease seemed to progress much faster than Narman's. We saw a video of Norman in his 40's and the desease had progressed less than Harry's had. Yes, maybe Norman had used some of the research to lesson the effects, but why couldn't Harry have done that. I know the whole "I need your blood" thing was needed for the story, but they could have handled it better.
9. Although Felicia's character was good, I would have liked to see some hint at who she will hopefully be. Could have simply been her doing some acrobatic move to get away from something, or something of that nature.
10. Why do the police let the civilians hang around so close to these super-powered villains. Here comes this huge mechanoid Rhino thing and we let the civilians stand 20 feet away? Plus, wouldn't most parents grab their kids and run away from the danger.
11. And that leads to that shot of the kid in the spidey costume "standing up to the Rhino". S... T... U... P... I... D... ! All I was thinking was, it's the mother's fault for staying there with her kid to watch the huge Rhino-Mech fight the cops. Bullets flying and she just stands there with her son? Wouldn't most parents run the other way, dragging their kids, as fast as possible?
12. The timeline as far as seasons. We start ok with June and graduation, but after the break-up the timeline goes all wacky, as far as the seasons. In fact, what year/month did Gwen die? I think it was a whole year later, in maybe late summer, but I don't know for sure.
13. Which would mean that Peter has been in college for a whole year, yet we never see anything about that important part of his life, and only get one small mention about 'I'm in college now'.
14. Peter's whole detective web to figure out the deal with his dad. Why? This was so not needed and was a waste of time. Yes, I get the irony of him using a 'detective web' to figure things out, but it led nowhere. There were others ways to show us his 'obsession' on figuring that out. It really served no purpose, other than Aunt May finding it, so he could confront her, but he could have just gone and confronted her without all that.
15. Smythe never came across like a head honcho at Oscorp. Yes, he bullied Max and made him stay late on his Birthday, but he just came across like some middle manager.
16. Not showing us what was in the other 3 or more cells down in Special Projects. Yes, we saw the spider venom and Doc Ock's arms, Vulture's wings and the Goblin armor/glider; but why not show the rest? If you're willing to show some, just go all of the way...
17. The Gentleman. He seems so not needed. It could have been Smythe, or Otto Octavius or others to bring the 6 together. Makes me think that Massee was supposed to be Norman, when they filmed TASM1, and they since changed their mind.
18. So much shown to us in previews never made it into the movie. The whole "Peter, Oscorp has been tracking you" was never used?
19. One little speech from Aunt May about packing up Uncle Ben's stuff was enough to get him to put the costume back on. Really?
20. Captain Stacy induced by guilt. Yes, it got the point across, but is SPidey really losing his mind here? How about maybe a nightmare sequence to drive the point across instead.
21. The fact that Peter hasn't seen Harry since he was 11, yet they are "best friends". Sorry, that makes no sense!!!
22. The airplanes! First, the odds that two planed are on a collision course in the big open sky, and the fact that the moment they would have any issues with communications or electronics they would get altitude, bothered me. Did we really need to have the 5 minute countdown of the planes crashing to make that scene intense? Nope. It could have simply been if they don't stop him quickly he'll be too powerful to stop, or something like that.
23. Oh, and planes (and ships) are taught to open to the right, not the left.
24. How come every time Spidey gets into a fight after the break-up it leads to him being covered in something yucky? Didn't he have a fish at one point???
25. Back to that kid wearing the Spidey costume. When Spidey took the time to fist bump I was thinking, 'her Rhino, right now is when I would be shooting'. And don't tell me that the Rhino wouldn't want to hurt a kid.
26. So really, Peter Parker had a difficult time telling Gwen that he loves her. Really?
27. Keeping the mask on after changing into his graduation robes. Yes, chuckle, but stupid!
28. The terrible music used whenever Maxx Dillon was on screen to help us realize he's a ****. Really?
29. Why did Gwen have to be the one to break-up with Peter? Was it that important?
30. When the cop called for back-up in Time's Square like 10 cop cars showed up, at the exact same moment, and surrounded Electro? Boy, that timing was convienient.
31. Harry Osborn is allowed to just walk right up to the Ravencroft security dudes, grab their stun guns and take them out? Really?
Yet, in all, the movie was pretty good. No where near the travesty that was Spiderman 3!!! In general they got Gwen's death right, and I even liked how at one point, when Peter said "you're ok", it seemed that she was going to wake, but the crack when she hit was shocking. I also liked the blood from the nose to try to drive home the point of she's not waking up from this. Spidey's acrobatics was the best of any Spidey movie and Garfield is a master at the joking nature that Spiderman is known for. Yes, they made some minor and some major mistakes. Was it "amazing", no, but still better than Spiderman 3!
