I would venture to say something between 110 and 120.

Given the density of nerds, that is.

Just curious what others think.

The posted estimates are probably going to be a lot higher than what it actually is. If the community forum topics are anything to go off its probably under 100.

Between 110 and 120 is considered well above average, so I don't think that's the case if we're talking about average IQ. I mean it could be; there are a fair number of people here who I'd consider intelligent. There are many smart and well-articulated posts and opinions, but they tend to showcase wit and general knowledge rather than abstract reasoning, puzzle-solving ability etc. -- the standard measures of IQ.

I don't place credence in IQ as a measure of functional intelligence. Although I'm in Mensa I certainly am not top 2% intelligent, certainly am no genius. I attribute getting in largely to my formal education (Singapore ranks highly on science, maths and reading) and a test-taking culture (I've been sitting for tests and exams since I was in kindergarten!). I took the test in adulthood, so you could say I was prepped for it.

IQ tests don't even measure intelligence. they measure potential.

Given some of the meltdowns I have seen on the Hype, I would estimate average IQ of those posters at around 47.5 :o

But overall average here? Probably around 110. Just because we are geeks/nerds does not necessarily mean we have a particularly high IQ, unfortunately...

I'd be interested in hearing specific IQ values though. I had mine done a few years back and it was around 127, if I recall correctly.

I think I might drag the score down a little. I blame the drugs and alcohol.

I'd imagine it changes depending on where you go. Above average for the usual places but steadily dropping for all of the movie forums the closer it gets to the release dates. :D

Well, we all know the bat boards are always a cesspool.

As a Vancouver Canucks fan who begins every October expecting a Stanley Cup victory, I'm sure I singlehandedly drag down the Hype's average to the 80s.

Regardless of personal opinions and debates on religion, politics and the like, we all pretty much express our thoughts with feasible arguments for the most part and have similar senses of humor, so not counting obvious trolls and newbies, I think we're all pretty above average.

After seeing the posts on the Hype, I would guess somewhere in the double digits. :o

IQ tests are too subjective for me to place any value on their results.

I would say the Hype is average.

I do think a lot of us assume we're smarter than everyone else.

for being "smarter" than the rest of us... which when you look at it is quite ironic! hehe
funny how guys like Eisenstein seem like regular joes you can go have a beer with and the highly intelligent ones get bounced off a comic book forum.
"Laws of the universe!" i suppose!:cwink:

There's lots of smarts, lots of technical skill and academic insight floating around the Hype... And a definite defecit of wisdom or self awareness.

You count mainly folks who regularly post? Or all members?
