What is the worst kind of nerd?

I don't know if you can call them nerds, but some wrestling fans.

Like any fandom, there's the one who enjoy the thing without being obsessive and just like it for what it is and then there's the ones who obsess and take it too far and give everyone associated with it a bad name.

I personally enjoy the parodies more than the show itself these days.

I'm waiting to see if Season 4 redeems the show from the mediocre season 3 before I make that call, but there are some fantastic fanworks.

Yeah,I have to admit, that was an epic facepalm post. That's the kinda "nerd" I was talking about. The "If you like the prequels you're incompetent/deluding yourself." posters.

Yeah, he also is the type mentioned a few times that doesn't get the idea of an opinion, or rather, thinks his opinion is right and ours are wrong. Aka he hates the prequels and thinks they are terrible movies, but because he considers himself intelligent and knowledgeable on films, they ARE bad movies, and we should accept they are and not like them, rather then supposedly fool ourselves into enjoying them.

The nerds that need to press the "if you actually like such and such, you aren't that intelligent a person" are the worst. Hitting us below the intellectual belt is fightin' woids.

The worst type of nerds are the people who don't put the hyphen in Spider-man. I usually beat them up, take their lunch money, and have sex with their mothers.

Spiderman.

My mom probably hasn't been laid in years. :o

You sir, are a terrible kind of nerd
I will tie you up, force you to watch the full two seasons of Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, and force you to laugh at the worst jokes

I'm joking, I'm joking, so does E-Man

I just feel that online or in the real world the common denominator between a lot of the various flavors of fans/nerds we are all listing here is a lack of a certain basic level of self awareness of how they come across.

I'm just glad that I wasn't eating my lunch at the moment that I read this one...

I also hate it when people do not use the hyphen! :cmad:

Now now, Aziz. You know that you don't have the footwork to deal with a superior hyphen.

Grown men who watch My Little Pony regularly.

You could also say bronies are grown men with possible pedophile tendancies. Seriously, I can understand watching it with your younger kids, but by yourself as an adult. I'm sorry but it's creepy as all hell.

In my opinion that's ignorant. It's like saying enjoying he-man as a kid means you had possible homosexual tendencies because he ran around half naked only wearing shorts.

Well Adam wore pink, never hit on smokin' hot Teela and of course there was that episode he marched in that Eternian Gay Pride Parade.

I have two kids, both girls, who watch the show and I watch and it with them and by myself. That's a really ignorant statement that is generalizing a lot of good people. That's like saying "I bet pedophiles like Spider-man". I bet there are some that do, but as far as I know, the majority of Spider-man fans are not pedophiles.

You obviously read my post but then chose to ignore the part where I said it's perfectly fine and understandable if you have kids and watch it with them because they want to watch it, just for the sake of argument I guess.

Also, you're comparing a character(Spider-Man) that was geared towards mainly boys and guys when the comics first came out to a show clearly aimed at little girls.

Hey, everyone has a right to watch what they want to watch but I have the right to think of some of those guys as being weirdos for watching a kids show aimed at little girls, and I don't think it's ignorant.

That's kind of a weak comparison. He-Man was mainly aimed at boys, like a cartoon like Rainbow Bright was geared towards girls. Yeah he wasn't wearing much but it was an action show where he was two steps away from being a barbarian type of character. Not to mention I remember the female characters being scantily clad as well.

I think it kind of gets a pass because the writing is pretty good on the show, I will admit that. I don't watch it religiously but I've seen a couple episodes and see the memes and what not.

Not the "brony" type but if I were, this would be my kind of pony.

I'm just going to stay out of this thread from now on before I say something I regret.

I mentioned I watch it by myself too though, which I can't tell if you missed or not. It's your opinion man, I'm not arguing that, and I don't associate with too many other who watch the show apart from here on the Hype, but I generally don't see any displaying these tendencies. There's some weird ones out there, especially on youtube I'd never associate myself with, but even then I don't see those tendencies, more so the antisocial/ hasn't learned how to socialize with people nerd types.

Unfortunately the worst ones tend to be the most vocal, so maybe that's where you are forming your opinion from.

I got the part where you said you also watch it on your own, I let that slide because you most likely got into it from your kids watching it. It's the ones that seeked it out on their own that I question at times.

You're most likely right that it is from the more vocal ones that seem to obsess over it.

If you want to go off on me and talk trash I don't mind at all, you could always send me a PM. I know what I'm typing is pissing off a number of bronies but I just find it a bit creepy.

Eh,who are we to judge? If a grown man wants to watch My Little Pony,it doesn't make me think any less of him.

Yeah I watched this trailer and I changed my mind about Bronies.

I don't watch it, and i think i'd hate it, but I've heard the writing is good. I thought it was weird, lame and creepy at first but there are completely normal people that watch it. i don't understand it really, but theres got to be something there for so many people to like it

Yeah,I mean,I've never watched the show, myself. But,it seems harmless enough.I'd be more concerned with the psychology of someone who habitually watches torture-porn,for example.

Fair enough, and again your entitled to your opinion on the matter. An example of what I meant, while not displaying tendencies you were referring to, was a video that showed up a couple years ago of like 5 guys in their 20's to 30's walking to Pizza Hut carrying pony dolls and singing songs who then proceed to harass the poor girl at Pizza Hut, asking her to draw ponies on the box.
It's been removed but it was panned by a lot of MLP fans for making us look like creepy a*sholes. And I'd have no doubt it was people like those you've seen online, and trust me, a lot of people do not like what they do. Hell, me having kids, when they get older I'm afraid to ever let them use the Internet due to the huge amounts of gore and porn the worst of the fandom has spawned.

Just remembered something which might be good to add to this thread. How about fans(mostly fangirls and possibly dudes) who are really into Gender-Swapping fictional characters and perhaps spamming their weird choices all over tumblr?

I see this done a lot for say(off the top of my head): Sherlock, Supernatural(especially poor old Dean who gets this A LOT from what I've seen) and various folk from the MCU like say Loki and/or Thor.

What's up with that?!
