What does it mean to be black?

Misconceptions is the right word. Most black people can tell when someone is being racist or is just uneducated or unexposed to another.
race.

If it's done with anger, it's racism. If it's like, "oh, I thought black people did such and such", that's more misconception.

When someone says "Oh, he's black. He can be the gangster in the school play," I look at it as racist, and extremely ignorant. I look at that as derogatory, rather than funny.

:o

yeah definetly.

Reminds me of that Ms. Marvel issue where the three kids are playing, one of which is black. And one of them says to the black kid, "you can be Luke Cage." And he's like, "how come i always gotta be Luke Cage?" And the other kid says, "cause you're the only one with a jacket." Granted, it was like a little screw you joke because you figured you knew where they were going with it, but it was funny.

I bet there was a lot of black kids in the 90's who always got stuck playing the black power ranger or winston from ghostbusters :o

The Black man can't have nothing! :o

Hey y'all, at least we have John Stewart.
He's the second string GL, but still, since Kyle Rayner isn't GL anymore, and Hal Jordan is never around, he's almost first string.

I love how they play up how bad ass he is because he's black.

"He REALLY means it when he says beware my power." Because the white boys didn't mean the oath when they said it. :p Hilarious.
