What don't you like about The Fox X-Men Cinematic Universe

I think that was just Magneto being Magneto and linking up with the x-men to survive like in X2. If there was a way to defeat those sentinels in his timeline I have no doubt he would have tried to make all homosapiens suffer and bow to mutants.

I really hope they just pretend TLS and Origins don't exist from now on.

That's not going to happen now that Xavier has seen the events of those movies from reading Wolverine's mind. What he does with that knowledge will play a role in X-men: Apocalypse.

I think the main issue with this is the chronology of everything. You cannot use Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in every movie and declare that these movies don't tie in together.

I just started a podcast and discussed this issue.

Fox's Original Sin with the X-franchise is taking the main character if there is one of the comics, Cyclops, and giving him nothing on screen.

That alone is one the biggest missteps in modern age of comic book media.

just to be clear, there have been many terrible CBMs that don't sniff the X-franchise, but Cyclops not being in the center of all of it is quite honestly weird.

It's almost as if the filmmakers don't read the comics, lol

I have to agree on Cyclops, he had a decent role in the first movie, and I think in Singers X3 he would have had a big part as well. But generally his role has not been big enough given he is the leader of the team. Hoping Apocalypse rectifies this.

the over emphasis on Mystique is a big one for me the x-men especially have so many great woman characters that should be featured

Yeah the synopsis for Apocalypse and Kinbergs words had me eye rolling. Smh

Yeah, maybe Cyclops will take a prominent role with the young recruits, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It does seem like this is going to be Xavier's and Mystique's movie.

Even if Cyclops role is as "big" as his role in the first X-Men movie, it's still too small for my taste.

DoFP being almost entirely garbage.

X3 being complete garbage.

Origins being worse than that.

Over reliance on a handful of characters while leaving to be two line, non-developed characters.

The complete disregard for timeline and continuity. Freaking Angel, who was in X3 thirty+ years after Apocalypse will happen, will be in Apocalypse. Ugh.

Those are broad strokes. I can elaborate on the individuals movies a lot more, but it's a lot of typing.

Not using Cyclops enough in movies. He the leader of the team in comics. But he barely in the movies. That's not right.

As I've said before, I wouldn't mind an over-emphasis on Mystique if we got the ACTUAL Mystique from the comics: the ruthless, manipulative, cunning wildcard terrorist. Not this nude semi-mute henchman/conflicted woobie we've been getting.

Having characters in the movie just say "hey look who it is!", and have it not really serve much of a purpose.

Singer bringing in a female character with only one line and staying silent for the rest of the movie. Mystique in X1, Lady Deathstrike in X2, and Blink in DoFP.

Also, what is it with Singer and Toad?

The unnecessary deviations from the comic book will always baffle me. I get that changes must be made from page to screen, but some are just baffling.

Having Cyclops not lead the X-Men is like having Captain America not lead the Avengers. Its just isn't right.

I doubt Cyclops will be leading the X-Men in Apocalypse. It'll probably be ****ing Raven. He's just a teenager. So yeah, Singer missed his chance. And I doubt he'd have had a bigger role in X-3 either considering Fox's obsession with Wolverine.
Except all the times when Storm led them? ;)

You know what I mean. Iron man too has led the Avengers but the leader has always been Cap. Same applies to the X-Men.

I have to commend Marvel for still having Cap as the leader in the actual movies. Sure in the promotional material they highlight RDJ the most, but in the actual films, Cap is not short-changed.

They could have easily had Ironman outshine everyone else, but they maintain a great balance of screen time and development amongst the members.

The reason I don't really agree is Storm has been an awesome leader of the X-Men at pretty significant time periods in their history. I'm talking Mutant Massacre, Fall of the Mutants, etc. Basically, Scott with Madelyne Pryor, Scott with X-Factor, Storm was the leader and a damned good one at that.

Not that it matters because the films butchered her too.

Well, I agree with that. I think they butchered her more than they even butchered Scott - and that's saying something because they badly butchered both (I just think there's a precedent for an underwhelming Cyclops since the 90s cartoon version was kind of a stick in the mud too).

I was hopeful Scott would lead the team, or lead with Beast, but after reading that synopsis (Mystique leading the X-Men:whatever:), I've lowered my expectations considerably. Maybe later in the movie, but I'm not counting on it. At this point I'd rather be surprised than disappointed.
