What got you into Batman?

Tim Burton... and of course the magnificent Batman: The Animated Series!!

Looking back, it seems there are a lot of people who were introduced to and fell in love with Batman through BTAS. |Wonder if any kids that watch the cartoons The Batman or The Brave and the Bold will turn out like we did...

Pretty sure it was when I saw the 1989 Batman movie as a kid and from there it grew when I also watched the 1960s series, Batman Returns and TAS.

Unfortunately, by the time I was old enough to understand what I was watching on TV, BTAS, TNBA, and BB had all been cancelled. The first time I ever saw batman was on the Justice League episode "Starcrossed". It was the first time I'd ever seen a superhero show, to be honest. All I remember from it was that there were a bunch of pleople who looked like HAwkgirl. Being only about 6 or 7, I was understandably confused. Then, I never saw Batman again until my dad introduced me to Batman Begins. THe real fanaticism started when I saw the Dark Knight was coming out, though. When I see a trailer for what looks like it will be a really good movie, then I tend to find out everything I can about it. Therefore, I've since become a full-on fan.

The West movie, b/c we taped it when it came on TV, and 89. I watched them both so much my mom told me the tapes were broken. Then we started recording TAS.

I'm afraid I was a Marvel-head as a kid, so I didn't get into Batman until I was an adult. And it was the movies that did it. First 1989's Batman lured me in, but that didn't last long. I remember getting caught up in the early 90s comics craze including spending $30 on the Robin II miniseries with hologram covers. I got out of comics soon thereafter, and see that Robin mini on eBay now at half the price I paid. But then 2005's Batman Begins got me back for good!

The animated series, then Mask of the Phantasm, and THEN I finally saw the '89 Batman.

I mentioned it on the movie's thread, but Batman Returns is what got me into Batman (I was only 3 at the time). And then the animated series came along, so those two really bring back strong memories.

I honestly forget what got me into Batman. I was a big fan almost right out of the crib. I remember watching reruns of old Adam West Batman episodes when I was really young, but I think I was a fan before that.

Of course I loved BTAS when it came out(I was 6 then) and followed that all the way until it's conclusion with JL's Destroyer. I think my late single digit, early teens I started swaying into liking Spider-Man and then around 17 I liked Punisher alot, but it all came back to Batman. When Begins came out I was 18 and sometime after I just started really liking Batman again and I don't think I'm going to wane off him anytime soon.:woot:

B89 and The Animated Series.

It wasn't until I saw Batman in a comic (1993?) that I learned where he actually came from :oldrazz: .

I was never a big fan of Batman when I was a kid, tho I liked BTAS and have always been a fan of the Joker character. Was more of a Spiderman fanboy back then.

But then Batman Begins came out, I liked it and the Joker calling card at the end left me very curious. Fast forward a couple of years, The Dark Knight came out. I'm sold.

I took the time to read most of the known Batman novels like The Killing Joke and Dark Knight Returns (amongst some more) and I feel that I know really understand the characters, something I did not when I was a kid.
I think I can say I'm more of a Joker fan than Batman really anyway.

my father's love of the 60's campfest.

then i read a comic where batman escaped quicksand and that's where i learned that batman is a badass.

Oddly enough, Batman Returns was my first taste of what would become my comic obsession years later. Thank God that I had horribly young parents who took the risk of taking a three year old to see a "dark" Batman movies in theaters.

Thanks Mom.

It started for me when I was 3 years old. My father would play "The Official Adventures of Batman and Robin" on the recordplayer and we would act out the action. Even though I would always be Robin, my Batman obsession got it's nostalgic roots there.

When I was around 2-3 years old, I would watch the old 60's show, and my amazing Mother took me to go see the Movie that was re-released when I was about 5. She would also buy me action figures, along with the comics, and she also made me a TON of costumes for all my friends to play in. When I was 7, B89 came out, and I saw it in the theater about 6-7 times. And so on, and so on, and so on......... :)

Batman Returns scared me away as a kid but 'The Long Halloween' story drew me back in. That and BTAS esp the first clayface episode, really well done.

my father has been a cop since my first birthday. I always associated him and batman. My dad worked nights when i was little. So i always thought he was out fighting crime with batman. My dad has always loved batman. He has pictures of himself wearing homemade batman tshirts when he was little---they couldnt afford the real thing so they made their own!
I have always loved batman. I will always love him!! Honestly he is some what like a father figure to me. :)
I admit though I dont know everything there is to know about the history of batman, but I still have that same love and admiration for him like i did when i was kid. I still get all giddy and excited when i watch TDK-- like I did when the begining sequence of BTAS started---I never missed the begining!! I love the orchestrated music and how dark all the episodes are with batman's stark white eyes peircing through the darkness!!! LOVE IT

Batman: The Animated Series for the most part. That and the Superfriends too. My mom got me a Batman comic after she saw how obsessed with the show I was and i instantly became attached to those too. One year she made me an awesome Batman costume for Halloween too. I fell out of my obsession for awhile and Batman Begins really threw me back into the mix

I really hope that's the case, although Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a little more campy, but I still think it is a fun show and a cool way to introduce other heroes too. Maybe that combined with the Justice League and JLU series will bring about a whole new era of great Batman fans. As nerdy as it sounds, my love of Batman is something I would really love to pass along to my kids someday.

The Superfriends/Justice League cartoon plus reruns of the 60's TV show. They opened the door, B89 just made me a hopeless fan. I wasn't fortunate enough to get the comics coming up on a regular basis, but there was always something about Batman that called out to me. As a kid Batman was just cool, as an adult, he's cool not because of the gadgets, but because he's a regular guy putting it all on the line.

Re-runs of the 60's show with West, then my dad using his comics from the 70's to help teach me to read.
