A few added extras on the car.

More espionage.

Slower edit.
yeah and more grace, daniel craig was as graceful as a rugby international in stillettos.

bond is elegant with checked aggression. he doesn't go jumping through evering bloody window, landing like a zebra on acid and running around like a headless chicken all the time.

all you have to do is look at the grace brosnan has at the beginning of goldeneye.

when you start thinking arnie in true lies is more graceful than bond, there are SERIOUS PROBLEMS.

After Quantum of Solace a number of Bond fans seem to feel that the franchise has lost it's "Bondness", So in the 23rd installment what would you like to see make a return ?

would personally like Q and Moneypenny, they can even be updated versions. i don't care, i just want those characters in some form. a "Bond, James Bond" wouldn't hurt either.

and i'm not someone who disliked Quantum. it wasn't great, but it had great moments.

I'd like to see them bringing the classic Bond elements back, such as Q, Moneypenny, gadgets, and one-liners like "Bond, James Bond". However, just because they bring them back doesn't mean they have to do it exactly as it was done before. Q can introduce some realistic gadgets that have relevancy with the mission. For Moneypenny, I think it's important to have someone who can flirt with Bond, and add some interesting dynamic within the office. For vehicles, as long Bond keep his Martin I'll be happy.

Lois Maxwell was the epitome of grace and beauty. Her banter with Connery and Moore was always splendid and never seemed forced, a testament to her abilities as an actress.

Caroline Bliss came across as nothing more than a giant nerd and Samantha Bond tried much too hard, coming across as a prude.

There needs to be the weird henchmen with a quirk, maybe not as outrageous as a metal rimmed bowler hat :D but there should be. Moneypenny should be in there aswell as a new Q.

All these things are staples of Bond and if they are included won't give critics the "it's just an action film with a bloke name James Bond" excuse.

Yes, lets further regress back into the mundane formula of Bond.

yeah, a weird henchmen who's creepy would be great. i don't know. with a peg leg?

Yea, but they don't even really need to have a weird quirk. It's just that a "Number 2" hasn't been in the new ones yet, and Bond villains always have a "Number 2" :D

1) Bond being all about serving Queen and Country.
2) Bond being a womanizer.
3) The Gunbarrel right at the beginning of the film.
4) Him saying; "My name is Bond, James Bond"

Those are my big ones. In a perfect world these will be added too:

5)Moneypenny
6) Q Branch with 'Bill Nighly' as Q
7) Some minor believable gadgets.

When I say it's lost its Bondness, I mean tone and style as well as storytelling. Bond is just plain cool in that classic sense. CR understood that and made 2006 work for Bond not Bond work for 2006 (or 2008) with the "new big spy movie."

I don't think any of these things need to be in the next one for it to be a great Bond movie. But I honestly wouldn't mind seeing all of 'em pop up so I marked them all anyway. :hehe:

Also, just a note has anyone noticed Bond hasn't said "Vodka martini. Shaken, not stirred," since The World is Not Enough in 1999?

I think it is time for that line to come back.

We've seen elements of all these things. Bond is clearly still about his duty. He's still a womanizer. As Vesper notes in CASINO ROYALE, he sees them as "disposable pleasures".

That's because he says it the way he was introduced as saying it in the novels. The way he makes the drink, which is how the "martini" saying originated. The movies shorteneed it.

Bond orders a dry martini in a deep champagne glass, asking for it to be made with three measures of Gordon's gin, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet vermouth. "Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel."

We need to see these things in each movie, not every now and then. I understand that CR and QoS are one big movie, per say, so it's excusable this time......

A bit more humor. Not to the point of being silly, but a bit more.

Along those same lines, I'd like to see a little more of Bond being the sexist that he is. And let's not see any more Agent Triple X clones for a while, please. Not that I want damsel in distress female leads, but more along the lines of Vesper and Tracy.

A few gadgets won't mean the end of the world, nor would Q and/or Moneypenny. Use them if it's natural and needed, don't if they are not.

I have a feeling the film makers of the Bond films listen to the public, despite how well this is doing at the b.o. DAD was the highest grossing Bond film to date when it came out, and the publics dislike of it made them re-boot the franchise. Let's hope they listen to the universal reviews that this movie went way over board on the action, and adjust Bond 23 accordingly.

agreed

Q and Moneypenny are the only two that I could see improving the franchise, simply because I've always felt that characters have a better shot at improving the story than gimmicks. As for the rest, chuck it all. After a while, the classic Bond elements stopped being classic elements and started being uncreative cliches that made every movie seem the same as the last. I want the 007 films to be good films. I want the creators to at least try to tell good stories, stories that are worth telling, even if they're simply for the sake of being really fun. As long as the fun was made with care an talent.

I like to see sexy moneypenny, I didn't like Samantha Bond at all.

how about a weird henchmen?

Screw a weird henchman, just get a worthy villain. Where are the Alec Trevelyans, the Blofields, the Max Zorkins, Scaramangas, or Red Grants? I want a classic Bond villain. What have we gotten since the reboot? An accountant and a middle manager? Not exactly the most exciting villains. Le Chiffre worked for what was needed for Casino Royale, but Greene was absolutely useless. It is time we get a real Bond villain for Craig's 007 to take on.

I co-sign every single bit of your post, Warhammer. You've encapsulated exactly how I feel at the moment.

Seriously dude; have you posted this on the QOS thread?

If not, then please do so. It would be a breath of fresh air on there at the moment.

You can quote my post in there. I know if I do it, a thousand people in that thread will school me.
