What if they SLOWLY turned Smallville into a full blown Superman series?

I think they most certainly could make a good looking super suit on the SV budget, (which judging from its popularity has probably gone up quite a bit in the last few years). I'm really tired of a superman show being compared to Lois and Clark. That was 13 years ago. Things have changed a lot when it comes to production. Lois and Clark also suffered from bad writing, which SV doesn't seem to have a problem with. there is no way, ever, that SV could turn into Lois and Clark, even if it was full blown Superman.

Says Who? Smallville isn't impervious to bad storylines....Season before last, Smallville's ratings were suffering because of them. This past season, they had a bit of a re-surgance in audience because of them. Ratings leveled off after a really nice start, staying generally high.

As far as this thread goes, no way. I'm sure most of the actors would like to try other things. Plus, a Superman series on TV would get expensive. Best bet is a Smallville movie on DVD or something like that as far as I'm concerned.

No, it's not impervious to bad storylines. it's had it's fair share of bad ones. But the writting isn't bad, it's not campy, or over the top. It's clever, and even the bad episodes have highlights.

I honestly don't see how a superman show would be much more expensive that a smallville show. Afterall Smallville IS a show ABOUT superman. the only thing that could get pricey is the flight.

I'm not saying they SHOULD do this series. I very much like smallville the way it is. But i'm sure if they wanted to, they COULD.

1- Bruce Wayne will not appear on Smallville.

You guys are making it too easy!

Never. Say. Never

"Never Assume. You make an ass out of u and me."
- Felix Unger :p

"Nobody knows anything (in Hollywood)"
- William Goldman

And one for BaK:

Scully: "The very idea of intelligent alien life is not only astronomically impossible, but at its most basic level downright anti-Darwinian."
Mulder: "Scully... what are you wearing?"

Ding ding ding! Somebody gets it. :D

I doubt they could do the a Superman show well, I mean first off to do a proper Superman show, no Lana. Lois would have to become a big shot reporter far too quickly, as well Clark. Plus jumping staright from Smallville to Superman would make Lois and Lex look stupid if they can't tell Clark is just Superman in glasses.

Lex and Lois and anyone who has ever spent time with both Clark and Supes has looked stupid in just about every form of Superman lore....

Yeah but there was no point when they had known Clark before the glasses, as stupid as it was before good acting by Reeve in the movies made it fessible. That is now impossible

Smallville is NOT imervious to bad writing.

It's a decent show and I like it, but there are times when the writing makes me cringe, sorry to say.

I wasn't asking if Smallville would continue into Clark being Superman at Metropolis, or saying it would. It wont, I know it.
but
I was asking What If They evolved Smallville into Metropolis?
Would you watch it, would it work.

I agree, the budget would more than likely be way too high for television. and would result in cheaper special effects.

But the storyline might transfer well, and I guess thats what I meant.
In your opinion would the story of Smallville transfer to Clark as an adult in Metropolis?

I still really Love the Metropolis comic idea.
It would continue the storyline forever if demand was great enough, budget would not be an issue in terms of FX.
Clark could be drawn like Tom Wellings, Lex would look like Michael Rosenbaum, and so on.

I also like the idea of a Smallville TV movie, maybe the Closer to the entire Series.

OH I KNOW! A Smallville the Animated Series.
What about that? It combines both comic and show.

:supes:

oh since you put it like that......

Hell nah and as for an Animated series? Nah. This show is strictly Smallvile

Personally I'd like it to head towards more of a Birthright like show with him travelling. Similar to maybe Pretender but with Clark pre \S/ and no Center following him.

Now do I think it will happen? No . . . for mainly the reasons listed above. 7 years is a long time to have a shaved head. How pissed would he be though if he found he was going bald when he let it grow back?

I wouldn't mind a new, "improved" version of the whole thing, that is not a slave to the canon at all..
The most obvious thing they (or any future show) could do probably being prolonging the pre-suit part of it..

Suits do not look good on tv, and as we've seen, not all that impressive on film.. (except when extremely dark all around as in BB :) )

what if the season ended and the next season it comes back as metropolis the only person who really wouldn't be in it is clarks mom.

**** that, then might it might as well be on Spike tv, USA or some bummy channel on the cable

Yeah I'm in full-fledge SL mood today people. Just straight rejecting ideas like Ben Wallace in the paint

Id like to see a Superman tv movie starring the Smallville cast. I have a story idea and everything.

Not in the original Superman films, they didn't...

Lex only encountered Superman and never even met Clark and as for Lois, she was smart enough were she did put two and two together and eventually see through Clark's disguise.

You know, as much as people rag on Kidder's Lois, come to think of it, she was the only Lois that comes to mind where she did figure it out on her own like the true investigative reporter Lois is suppose to be, instead of Clark revealing his secret to her like in other incarnations.

^^^ Teri Hatcher's Lois figured it out on her own too, although she was really blinded by love to not have noticed it sooner.
