The Wall Street Journal was the first to break out the news that Shazam would be one of the films NOT connected to the Man of Steel Universe and now we have official confirmation that it will be a WB/New Line production. Because all of these are still WB films, it's still technically in the DCCU.

i would LOVE to have Mark Wahlberg as Shazam, but he's a bit on the short side also he's starting to look entirely his age. given that they went with Dwayne for Black Adam they would select a Shazam that is younger-- maybe around Henry's age, maybe even younger still. also probly an unknown (just have a hunch)

Variety reports that that Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After, Jack the Giant Slayer) will write the script with Johnson playing Black Adam, "who in recent issues of the DC comicbook, is more of an anti-hero trying to clear his name than a villain."

Leave it to him to find a way not to be the hero or the villian.

I wonder how this will work. I posted this idea a little while ago... I could see them making the movie Black Adam centric; a story of redemption where he meets young Billy Batson and teaches him how to use the powers of Shazam for good in an attempt to atone for his past misdeeds.

Well, The Rock did an interview with an international publication possibly hinting that Shazam COULD connect with the MOSVerse. Again, who knows?

"Now is happening with Superman and Batman. Aquaman and Wonder Woman come. I'm excited and I know fans are also excited. DC and Warner Bros. have great mythology that we will respect, we will create something very cool and a good foundation.”
