What is it you people really want?

I didn't really want much. I liked the '04 Movie. I liked Tom Jane as Frank Castle and the tone of the movie. For the sequel all I wanted was more action and Jigsaw.

I should mention that I'm not the biggest Punisher Fan, just a casual one. I don't know what's faithful to the movies or not, other than the fact that Punisher movies should have a big body count. So I'm easy to please.

But so far nothing I've seen of the sequel wows me. I really get a B-Movie vibe. But maybe that's ok for a Punisher Movie.

I guess I fall in to this category as well even though I've read the Max line for a little while now. I liked the 2004 film quite a bit, more so after the family slaughter stuff. All I want is an interesting revenge/punishment flick with a fleshed out and believable lead character. If it's just all gore with an angry nutball running around shooting bad guys in the head, I'll be very disappointed. Say what you want about the plot of the 2004 film, I liked that he put some thought in to his revenge. I know that the purists hated the concept because it was a hit and not random events that led to the creation of the Punisher but I think it works well cinematically. You need story arc, relatablity and you need development. I hope War Zone delivers all these things. The trailers and clips have seemed a bit awkward but the more I watch them the better they seem.

That was approximately the same budget as Dead Presidents, so why couldn't we have Vietnam in the story that could allude to a Born sequel? When will people come to grips with this THE PUNISHER IS AN OLD MAN!!!!!! Not someone in his mid forties. Ga~ damn.

Anyway, I had a vision a pissed off fan made a true Punisher story and the circulation on Youtube made people forget about this abomination.

Um, nooobody wants to watch a creepy old man become a vigilante and go after crooks. See Righteous Kill. And the Punisher is only an old man if you force him to be from the Nam, which I really don't see as being important to his character. As long as he has some army training, combat experience and his family murdered by the gang, that's enough for me.

Too bad we didn't all live within an hour of each other. WE could make your fan film, then we'd all see how hard it is to make a movie, and we'd appreciate this more. Oh, and I get dibs on playing Jigsaw ;)

It was made in 1995, there's a thing called inflation.

Thats all I wanted too. And I really liked the 04 movie but in all honesty I wasn't a fan of Hensleigh's draft for the Punisher 2. That script while it had some good stuff, it had a whole lot of flaws in my opinion.

It was only a first draft though. I am interested in seeing how it evolved after he was done working on whatever rewrites he did.

It had some good ideas and some bad, mainly the stuff regarding the Holy seemed like it wasn't necessary. I also liked that Russo was never called Jigsaw in the script, they just made it so ham fisted in the Alexander draft.

It kinda bother me too. When they keep calling him Jigsaw in Lexi's draft, but it wasn't that bad.I'm happy that in Lexi's draft Jigsaw really shines.Henselgh's draft Jigsaw was play down too much.

Especially when the cops call him Jigsaw, even though they really shouldn't know he's changed his name to that. That was probably just lazy writing.

Then go find another superhero to $%^&ing patronize then. Your not going to retool a character like this just so he can fit into Hollywood, ou will melt him into obscurity!!!! The cool thing about Punisher was that he is a Creepy Old man; creepy in the sense that he can kill you. Punisher received his training from the brutal Hell that was Vietnam, a very unpopular war that is important to our countries history, and significant in the fact that it contrasts with Captain America's origin (WW2 being the only popular war) designating the Punisher as the anti Captain America. There are so many great old school issues involving Punisher's involvement in Vietnam. Vietnam adds depth to the character, allowing for so many potential story possibilities. I will always ***** for Punisher's Nam origin to be kept intact. otherwise you'll push this character into obscurity as just another loser with guns, hence my signature, and visit my thread.

I rant not simply because Born taking place in Iraq would look stupid. I rant because I care. ;)

Ok, I think we've had this talk before, but Tony Stark gets a chest full of shrapnel in Vietnam originally, doesn't he? In the new film, they change it to Afghanistan.

Now you can say "Oh, that doesn't matter as much" but it does. Tony Stark is an arms manufacturer at the time and he needs to see a cruel, unpopular war to change his ways. They just changed it to Afghanistan and I think it worked great.

You could do the EXACT same thing with Frank Castle. Either have him from an early tour in Iraq/Afghanistan as a young Punisher, or have him from a earlier war, like Desert Storm. If you use Iraq though, then you've subsituted one unpopular war for another. Now you don't have to have him be 60 years old.

Besides, the comic writers barely ever have his age appear that old, especially in 616. They play it up about 1/4th the time in MAX, but even then MOST of the time he isn't even drawn like he's late 50s, early 60s. He's drawn about 40-45ish. Especially with that Goran Pavlov guy, or whatever his name is!

Man on Fire with a costume.

Not a neon colored cartoon that gives people flashbacks of Batman Forever.

yes it was. washington's character was a uncle tom steriotype too IMHO

I agree. I'm honestly not sure what people are expecting. This is Punisher we're talking about here. He does get a beating once in awhile, but that's how it's always been.

Frank taking a beating is not the issue. It has more to do with director/production opting to go with, for the most part the "looking cool while firing guns" approach rather than, the more soldier route.

Yeah, I got curious and started to read the MAX series. So far I haven't seen any stupid knee sliding parts or hanging from the chandelier. That's stuff I expect from the guy from the "Shoot 'em up" movie, not the Punisher.

Well, the movie is called "Punisher: WAR ZONE" not "Punisher: MAX"....

I don't mind the sliding all that much, but I think stunts like the chandelier don't fit the Punisher's style. IMO they're trying too hard to make it look cool and stylish. I want some old school action. This is the Punisher, a hardened vietnam veteran, he doesn't do fancy. Stunts like that I can see Deadpool do.

I will agree that the chandelier bit is really stupid, but that's really the only thing I've seen so far that's actually bothered me.

As long as people get killed and there's at least one pair of boobs, I'm happy.

I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want.

:hehe:

in short, he should assassinate the Spice Girls.
