The thing is, with Electro you have Max Dillon, this guy who was smothered by an overprotective mother. He's gotta have some deepseated resentment towards her for that. Gaining his powers could include a black-out where he has a hallucination of overcoming a phantom of his mother, frying her with his electricity.

Then when he awakens, Electro decides to become a brutal vigilante of sorts, murdering crime bosses and targeting prominent figures in society that he perceives as being "overbearing" or something.

Electro makes for a better minion than a villain. A powerful minion, but a minion nonetheless.

If they really save GG for TASM3 this is how the film would have to end:

Though it would surely be a downer for the series.

Electro and Mysterio deff. on top for main villain.

Still would love to have an opening scene bad guy for a quick fight like Shocker. Shocker doesn't really have the potential to carry a film, but he could help start the movie off with a bang.

Minions, people. Not every super-powered individual has to have a big backstory.

Especially since they set Oscorp up for being a villain making factory.

Respectfully, I think they do. Oscorp can't just be an out-and-out villain factory. Otherwise they'd be shutdown, arrested, jailed etc.

Oscorp's a villain making factory in TASM? O.o

Kraven and Chameleon.

I'd love to see a version of Kraven's Last Hunt, where he "kills" Spider-Man and supplants him as the city's crimefighter.

Chameleon fits perfectly with the secretive element they've already established. He could impersonate Richard Parker and mess with Peter.

If they make Scorpion a villain they need to make him in a way not breaking continuity with the game, make him involved in a flashback to the game, shadowing the characters around, not mentioning the viral break and whatnot, audience shouldn't feel obliged to play the game and feel cheated

You know, for better or worse, Scorpion should be kept away from this series of movies

Think about it. Now that Spider-man is in the picture, Norman will want to get rid of him or keep him busy. They have the potential ability to create villains with their gene splicing technology. And it is run by Norman the Green Goblin Osborn.

Spectacular Spider-man did something similar (though it wasn't Oscorp). So did Ultimate Spider-man. Though they were just trying to create super soldiers.

Using the place as a villain making factory works in videogames...but in a film, you need more than that. You need a backstory, character traits...more then just being a lab rat.

Mysterio - the former actor we all know and love, but with a twist.... he gets an unhealthy obsession with fame that would come with unmasking and killing Spiderman, gets introduced to the dark arts and voodoo to enhance his special effects and "magic." You could do some really dark and twisted stuff with him and really challenge Spiderman and his Spidey Sense.

For minions? That's the problem with characters like Electro, Sandman, Rhino etc. They can't hold films. They're cool looking, sure. Even fairly powerful. But they're not evil masterminds. They don't have interesting backstories.

This is for the lesser foes, not the likes of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.

It's more believable than each of them being involved in some kind of science experiment gone wrong. Or, say, wandering into a particle accelerator by chance (like Spider-man 3).

I really hope we don't have a villain even remotely linked to the ''doctor'' idea. We had enough of that. It's nothing original.
If minor villains aren't big enough for a movie, then use another minor villain or a big arc that would involve more then just the treacheries of one villain.

Or they can actually do the sensible thing and do a fourth film instead of just rebooting again.

I voted for Electro as I do in all of these polls. I really think that after the backlash to TASM that we need TASM2 to be something new. Going back to Goblin (or Ock or Venom) is just going to seem like more of the same to an audience that is already cranky about the lack of originality. Electro is probably the most visually interesting of the remaining villains and the fights could blow away those in the rest of the series.

They have two years to get the movie ready and imho the only villians they can do justice in that time is; Shocker (guy in a suit) Electro (guy in a suit) Mysterio (guy in a suit with a CG head).
They have like 6 months to write a script. Shooting will have to start early next year to make summer 2014.

What I want from the villian in ASM2

1. I want the villian to be human.
It was fun to see a CGI Lizard but I was taken out of the movie a couple of times due to poor CGI. Have a human in a outfit so you can totally buy the character. Add the effects for what this person can 'do' in post.

2. Drop the sympathy angle for pity sakes.
Make the villian just be a bad guy. No internal struggle, no conflict of interest, just a bad guy who wants to do bad things for personal gain.

3. No origin.
It (the origin) wastes time and it isn't needed. Have a villian who just 'IS'. Get on with it!

4. No connection to Peter.
No conflict of interest for Peter/Spider-Man, just someone to be taken down.

Do that and you'll have a great villian.
Electro (CG lightning)
Mysterio (CG head/effects)
Kraven
Cameleon

Go with these villians. Further more you'll be able to film most of the stuff in camera (rather filming blank plates and adding a whole character in post) which means it will be easier to make the 2 year deadline.

Screw the game's continuity. Movie > game.

The game's continuity means nothing. The real problem with Scorpion is that his look and powers are too similar to the Lizard.

I have to agree, stories are adapted from comics to films all the time why not take pieces from the games.

2bh, my mate has said that he'd like to see the Kingpin as the next villain, I think its an interesting idea cos you could have some of the more minor villains of spideys as his henchmen and its a bit far away fro mthe Daredevil film for anyone to get confused. But, I don't know, I do feel like he is a Daredevil villain and should be left for us to introduce other villains that haven't been seen.

Exactly. I agree 100%. That's why I gave Electro a simple goal of freeing New York from the big movers and shakers from society, and included a turfwar between Tombstone and Black Tarantula in my treatment for TASM-2.

There's nothing wrong with making up a good backstory for them.

That actually sounds interesting.

But my point is, that there is nothing wrong with making some of these characters minions to a bigger foe. That doesn't mean they don't get characterization. It just means that we don't spend many scenes on say, the Rhino's backstory.

Just him saying he volunteered to be a guinea pig for some secret Oscorp funded experiment, works fine.
