What was the last movie you watched? Part 2

Slow and dry 70s thriller with an engaging premise and well shot finale.

7.5/10
Helped create multiple conspiracy theories about the space program. Excellent music score.

Very few films take their premise and deliver on it in every aspect, a true classic. It's an atmospheric, foreboding, claustrophobic, brilliantly shot and edited masterpiece.

9.5/10

Helped create multiple conspiracy theories about the space program. Excellent music score.

Yeah, Jerry Goldsmith is a bit underrated Imo, his First Blood score is one of my all time favourites.

WONDER WOMAN (2017) Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, David Thewlis, and Elana Anaya. After living a few thousand years on an idyllic tropical island hidden from the sight of mankind, a naive beautiful warrior goddess goes out into the world in search of Ares, the God of War, so that she can kill him and bring peace to the world. Along the way she discovers ice cream and men. Wonderful movie, no pun intended, one of the best of the recent DCU movies.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987)

No real connection to the original Prom Night, other than that it's set at the same fictional Hamilton High School. In 1957 a freak accident/'prank gone wrong' results in about-to-be crowned Prom Queen, Mary Lou Maloney, burning to death. Thirty years later Mary Lou's restless spirit returns to take revenge on those responsible, and claim the crowning moment that she was denied. This installment moves at a faster pace than the first. Michael Ironside - giving his usual reliable performance - heads the cast. Lisa Schrage (who only made a handful of movies and TV appearances) is both stunningly beautiful and convincingly menacing as Mary Lou. The rest of the cast are okay. The story is pretty bonkers at times; whereas the first film was a straight-forward slasher, this one is part slasher, part possession, part ghost story, and kind of a mashup of The Exorcist, Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Carrie. The practical effects are pretty good. Despite the finale being a bit muddled at times, it's eventful - and the ending is an entertaining one. There's a moderate amount of T&A, plus some full-frontal female nudity. Good fun. 7/10

Killers of the Flower Moon. Liked it but didn't love it the way I love The Aviator (the Scorsese film I'd seen most recently). The three and quarter hours do fly by, I'll give it that, and it is a very pleasant sit, considering the subject matter, just an extremely well-made film. Hope to God Leo and Marty do The Wager.

Man....I love this movie. Saw it half a dozen times in the theater and untold number of times on tape and DVD. I have that poster and a "Coming Soon" variant. Absolutely love the music. It was my introduction to Willem DaFoe as an actor.

NOPE (2022) Starring Daniel Kaluuya, Kekeu Palmer, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, and Steven Yeun. A brother and sister suspect that a UFO is positioned behind a cloud by their remote California farm. Oh...if only that was all they had to worry about. Very tense and suspenseful.

The Holdovers

One of the most heartwarming films I've seen all year and easily something that could be a holiday classic. Alexander Payne directed a film that looks and really feels like it could have been made in the 1970s or early 80s.

Paul Giamatti, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and newcomer Dominic Sessa all give fantastic performances. This will easily be one of my favorite films of the year.
