What we know so far!!!

the TV series only got Banner right IMO but that show has really screwed up the fans. People actually complained that Hulk leaped so far :whatever:

I remember some of those complaints now. Yeah, that was pretty funny.

I do hope I'll like the upcoming film much better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Iron Man, too. It would be great if Marvel's studio came out of the gate with two monster hits that pleased the public and satisfied the fans. Here's to hopin'!

same here, but i just hope Marvel get there budgets back, then they'll make a sequel. I dont know IM's budget but the latest rumor has TIH's budget at around 180 mill

He survives because he just does, the same way Peter Parker and the FF survived their own exposure to radiation. That may require some suspension of disbelief, but so be it. The whole concept requires that, whether they include all the dismal absusive father crap or not.

Count me among those who don't want to re-visit the abusive father stuff as part and parcel of the Hulk's origins. It may be official canon, but it's revisionist and had no part in Lee & Kirby's original vision. Plus I think it'll stop this movie dead in its tracks. I would have loved to see everything dad-related excised from Ang Lee's Hulk. For me, all the supressed memories/Daddy killed Mommy crap ruined the whole film for me.

Lee & Kirby were crafting a contemporary reworking of the Frankenstein monster story. I believe that's where the Hulk's appeal lies. I don't think most moviegoers (and certainly most parents) want more of the disturbing abusive father melodrama that drug down the 2003 film.

Just my two cents.

Amen.

I just do not understand why people must insist that their is some secretive or special reason why Banner gets angry. Haven't any of these people ever met or know someone who has a short fuse? Ever heard of road rage? People everywhere around the world every single day get pissed off. It's a fact of life. Did everyone who's ever blown up at a co-worker, stranger or even a friend have some dark secret past that caused it? No. The world is a very stressful place and some people just lose their cool faster than others. What the hell is so hard to understand about that?

I have had my share of angry outbursts - and I still do on occasion, but I did not get beaten as a child nor did I secretly witness one of my parents hacking the other up with an axe. That whole back story was garbage. There was absolutely NO reason to "justify" why Bruce Banner gets angry. It's a fact of life. People just get pissed from time to time; and with the world moving at a faster pace every day, and everyone being expected to keep up or fall by the wayside, it's even more stressful. That's just one of the thousands of reasons why there's so much violence in the world.

And let's face it, Bruce Banner gets thrown into situations that would test the stress management skills of Job himself. And lastly, when's the last time you got the crap beaten out of you that didn't fire up your adrenaline levels?:woot:

As for why he survived the Gamma exposure? Suspension of disbelief. Every radiation-born superhero would be dead in the real world. Same with all those atomic monsters from the 1950's. We simply accept that Banner has a unique/rare body chemistry that enabled him to absorb the radiation, or that perhaps being a "new" & "unknown" form of radiation (as it pertained to comic readers in 1962), Gamma might do new & unknown things to a person.:cwink:

Actually it was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with a twist of Frankenstein.

can't wait for this especially given Norton's re-writes...

i agree with those that think any scientific explanation for banner's survival/transformation would be wasteful. parker got bit by genetically engineered spider. end of story. FF exposed to solar rays or something. end of story. are these things possible? would each survive? suspension of disbelief, people. every movie has it. a movie sets its ground rules and we either buy in or don't. a movie just needs to stay internally consistent. doesn't mean some origin can't or shouldn't be shown, just that i don't expect a lecture on string theory when i go see a marvel movie. i bought the ticket - i'm willing to go along for the ride.

does banner need to be 'special' either in his genetic makeup or in his repressed anger? nope. his circumstances are thrust upon him. a reluctant hero. an everyman, with anger we can all identify with. shy, afraid, bullied, feeling powerless to greater forces? who hasn't? audiences will identify because we all (most) think, at least at times, and rightly or wrongly, that we are victims of chance, of circumstance, of fateful upbringing or events. and that that 'one horrible thing' has forever made us tainted, failures, monsters from which we can either flee or embrace(alright, these might be extremes, but comics don't always deal in nuances). might anyone else have had some strange reaction to what he goes thru? i think we will see. but the reaction to the changes wrought will show banner a hero.
i don't see hulk as frankenstein's monster. banner should not have any god-complex, however well intentioned. hulk should not be the tabula rasa turned inward and angry at outside rejection. banner has felt enuff of that to gestate the hulk. hulk is born pissed off. the best part of the film, and quoted on these boards, is when banner admits he likes losing control to the hulk. wouldn't we all love an unstoppable beast to do our dirty work and then recede until needed again?
i also don't see jekyll and hyde. yes, how much of banner is in hulk and hulk in banner should be explored, i think finding some of each in the other. (no split personalities - i know making hulk distinct soothes our minds, but hulk cannot be a hero unless there is some of banner in him and banner cannot be a hero unless some of hulk is in him; psychodrama can be popcorn accesible without being unduly downtrodded (see ang lee).
i see more 'the fugitive.' man on the run. circumstances paint him guilty, maybe evil. friends are few and far between and often found in similarly conflicted persons with deep flaws. giving up and giving in to the person that the world had labeled a beast/monster seems easier, even sane.
blah, blah, blah, humanity conquers its base instincts. i like it here as i write it, but to give it readable lines is hard, and i'll probbly call it cheap melodrama when it comes out. such is the beast in me.

so, uh, when could we get a theatrical trailer? Christmas?

I'd prefer to see one around superbowl. Everyone watches Superbowl. Few ppl actually know a new Hulk movie is coming out, so SB sunday would be perfect. It would also be a good way to gauge what the public feels about the Hulk in general. Some will think it's a sequel. Some will automatically piss all over it because of the previous movie's superbowl teaser, etc. It will get tongues wagging......

I know the Hulk is green. Sometimes grey.

The Angry rage fueled Hulk is Green

The teen age like cocky bravado filled hulk Grey.....he only comes out at night for some odd reason..never quite got that one sunlight hurts him or something..wierdness of the McFarland era

At times before the Grey Hulk took over Banner took control of the green hulks body.....don't ask me how he was the green hulk and Banner at the same time, Banners inteligence but the Hulks rage..still uped his power level

then eventualy the Grey and green hulk were merged as apparent split personalities, and the united merged Hulk arived.

Much like Green Hulk with Banner inteligence, Merged Hulk was the most 'heroic' increadible inteligence, increadible power and never a need to worry about turning back into Banner.

Eventualy it was revealed that there were in fact many splits inside Banners mind.

For those not subscribed to the video thread. What the hell is on these Hummers???

^Wouldn't be able to so much as even wager a guess. This is why I don't get caught up in video threads. It's purely subjective as to what the hell is going on. Is it live footage? Are the Hummers merely transporting equipment? I mean, it could be anything. Better to just wait 'til the movie comes out.

i'll tell you what i know so far ...
i live in Toronto and this shoot is everywhere and i mean EVERYWHERE
big white trucks adorn our streets, taking up lanes, traffic is mental.

one dope shoot had trucks with massive holes punched thru them. must be for a big fight scene.

it'll be fun to see the film completed and see the city on display.

Looks like a spotlight.

I was thinking more along the lines of the loudspeaker on top of the Blues Brothers' car.

"And it's...ladies' night...tonight at the Palace Hotel Ballroom." :word: :word:

"*Edward Norton has tweaked the screenplay for TIH and he will play both Bruce and Hulk in the movie"

Huh?

what?... he's do the motion capture stuff too, like Serkis for Gollum.

why?... cause he said he's actually going to do it?
