The Dark Knight What We Know So Far

If it's a poncho I'm gonna complain cuz it should be teh purplez

Joker doesn't wear ponchos. Only poncho-wearing people wear ponchos. It's a death bag!

Looking at it more deeply it's a garbage bag, which fits with Nolan's version of the Joker. He's an infection, he's corruption, he's a symbol of everything that is wrong about Gotham. That's why he has yellow teeth, slashed cheeks and makeup that need to seriously be reapplied. He is rotten to the core.

I've once again updated the cast list on the first page.

The way I see it Batman Begins is year one, the dark knight is year two. The Gotham Knight tie ins and the virals are the space in between BB and TDK. The reason why I believe this is something the Joker said in the trailer. He talks about how a year ago the cops and lawyers wouldn't have touched the gangs of gotham (doesn't that sound corny?). That may just be a flippant, passing remark, or it may be a reference to when Batman appeared. Both Goyer and the Nolans claimed TLH and DV as major influences and both are year long installments.

Year one

The main thing about Nolan's Batman is that his training is very short. In the comics Wayne disappears for years, during which time he is training himself for his return. But due to the whole League of Shadows thing Wayne's training is much quicker. He spends most of his time stuck as a petty criminal and in jail for a period of time. So say a few months of this first year are based on his training, then a few weeks returning to Gotham and getting ready. Then he starts taking down Falcone.

Once Ra's gone its normal batman, dealing with normal criminals and the gangs.

Year two

Begins with the Joker and the alliance between Gordon-Dent-Batman. We know from leaked pics that Bats catches Crane and fights the gangs. The trio then deals with the chaos and darkness that the Joker brings to the city. The Joker is eventually brought down. And the mob bosses go on trial, Dent becomes 2Face and he starts his rampage on the mob. Beginning with Maroni and Rossi?

Year Three

TDK ends with the rise of 2face which marks the beginning of year three, like Dark Victory. This is where the third film can come in, if there is one, Batman and Gordon cleaning up after 2Face as he goes about finishing off the mob. Eventually 2Face tries to kill Batman either in this film or in TDK. I personally hope to have Catwoman in this film as well, either as a replacement for Rachel or a rival. Nolan says the Penguin is hard to do, but Catwoman done as the simple cat burglar that Bats tangles with.

By this stage we could have classic Batman. The Wayne Manor rebuilt to its former glory but with "some improvements to the foundation in the south east corner". In the trailer the temporary batcave, under Wayne's penthouse, shows some sophisticated elements, like the batsuit's cage rising out of the floor. This improvements are included in the original batcave back at Wayne Mayor. TDK may even show this.

Well it really does look like someone is going to need to save Batman after the crash. The Joker's casual stroll down the street, playing with his knife. Can't be good.

I think that the Joker blows up the Tumbler, and Bats is forced to use the Batpod, or maybe he just wants to use it. He eventually screws over the Joker's slaughter semi. Nolan talked about one of his gadgets being a stick bomb gun, and the mines are set off with timers. I think that's what causes the semi to flip. Then the batpod scene, Joker shooting, and batman skidding around him. Thats when the Joker pulls out his knife and starts playing around.

Watching the shot of Joker dropping someone in the trailer, I remembered a while ago there was a set report where

Dent says to Bruce something along the lines of "Don't you know she could die from her injuries?"

Could this be the reason?

Alright, well I updated the cast list in the first post and updated a few plot points based on the new trailer. There is unfortunately a little bit of speculation on my part in the first post now as well, so it may not be 100% accurate, but I would say that it is pretty darn close.

joker makes two face, two face kills mob bosses(out of vengence and insanity), batman takes the wrap, gordan smashes the symbol

"ur a freak like me" is joker talking to dent

"evening commissioner" is joker about to kill the old commish

bats and joker at end of trailer in the streets is bats coming for joker after what's he's done to harvey(and rachel)
or mid film when bats catches him and then interrogates him in prison

yaay

You know what would be really cool.

If Joker said "evening commissioner " to Gordon after killing the old commissioner but before Gordon is appointed to commissioner.

you know what I mean?

It's all part of the plan

im likin this theory of joker turning everyone against each other and creating true chaos, maybe then when everyone is busy fighting each other joker could take the chance to execute the real aim of his plan?

joker: "this city deserves a better class of criminal, AND IM GONNA GIVE EM ONE?" , always intending to push dent over the edge into crime?

Its actually "This city deserves a better class of criminal and I'm gonna give it to them. You'll see. I'll show you." IMO he's referring to the freak criminals taking over Gotham.

not this.

joker is telling bats he's a freak, not harvey.

i think he's telling dent

and just like himself, it takes scaring and trauma and loss to release his inner self

For those who were wondering, Kirk Stedden (Stephen Armourae) is one of the prisoners in the barge scene

One thing i don't understand is, why all you guys are trying to piece the movie together bit by bit. It's out in June. Do you want to know exactly how the film will go before you see it?

Short answer?

Yes.

:yay:
