For the Star Wars fans out there I got a Rey theory. Let me know what you think:
After the Battle of Endor the Empire starts it's quick and brutal decline. At some point the Alliance/New Republic storm some stronghold of the Emperor's only to realize it was either his pleasure Planet or where he kept his relatives or his long time consort. Perhaps a doughter or son and their family. The first ones in on the Rebel side decide that they don't want anyone claiming Palpatine's mantle with some claim to the "throne" as it were. Rogue One certainly showed the ugly side of a galactic revolution so I don't think we can scream too loudly about how such actions reflect on the "good guys". The people with a connection to the Emperor are killed... But Luke arrives and intervenes on behalf of the last survivor, a very young girl. Knowing the complications she brings (again... a surviving member of the Imperial bloodline and a living descendant of the last Sith) but unwilling to allow the slaughter of innocents Luke feels this is a continuation of his attempt to redeem his father by taking this child in and thinking he can train her to be a Jedi as well eventually. He also knows that if others found out about her she too might suffer the fate of her parents and be killed by vengeful members of the Republic. He arranges her to be hidden on Jakku for her safety and hopes that a similar environment as the one he grew up in will lead to a similar outcome (Is this a well thought out plan on his part? No. ) and checks up on her through intermediaries like Lor and other trusted members of those that follow The Force. He then gets distracted by the rebuilding of the Jedi Order and training his nephew... Then it all turns to ****. Ben's betrayal makes him gun shy to train the girl and he decides it's better that she remain hidden and live an anonymous life away from the violence and political strife of the fight against the First Order. He doesn't want to train her as a Jedi but he also doesn't want her to become a figure head or rallying point for the Order. He thought she would live out her days unknown to the Galaxy... But The Force had other ideas.

I've heard the theory that she's Palpatine's daughter before, but never really thought about the context what would be surrounding it. I could dig that. I'd certainly prefer that over her being a Skywalker.

Given the age I am going with the daughter of a son or daughter of the Emperor 's. This sort of positions her as the "Anastasia " of the Star Wars universe if you think about it.

I hope she's a Binks.:o

Ultimate plot twist... She's a Sisko.

My buddy Ed already found the flaw as the timelines don't match... Unless adjusted and the discovery of the Emperor's family/ descendants happens when the New Republic is well under way.

The dangers of pulling stuff out your ass I suppose.

Ah yes, I meant descendant, not daughter.

I dunno, didn't the old expanded universe have a bunch of stuff about clones of the Emperor? Maybe they could bring that back, and have her as a female clone. Like 15 years after the war, the New Republic discovers his secret lab, finds Rey in a tube or something as a child, and then the rest of the story plays out as you had it.

Or she's a Kenobi or some ****, I'm not a scientist.

What would be the female version of Sheev?

Sheeva, duh. It was under our noses the entire time.

I would post a photo of the Mortal Kombat character here, but I feel like that's not Hype-friendly.

I just saw an ad for a new J.K. Simmons show on Starz that looked really intriguing. Unfortunately when I looked up the creators on IMDB, their resumes were....less than impressive.

He is a really good actor, though. :)

You have to give people a chance. You never know this show could be their break. Obviously JK signed up because he like the script and the plans for it. Not like he was desperate for roles either.

That he is. I'll probably check out the first few eps just for him and the interesting concept. Who knows, the creatives could surprise me. The Duffer bros hardly had great resumes before Stranger Things, after all.

I'm watching The Walking Dead. There was just a really dramatic scene where [blackout] zombies stumbled, fell and rolled down a hill. It was supposed to be really threatening for the characters, but I can't stop laughing.[/blackout]

Kinda like that dorky light saber fight with Yoda. It was supposed to be amazing but everyone around me in the theater burst into laughter. :p He was more like an angry bee than a Jedi.
