Daredevil What you DIDNT like from Daredevil Season 1(spoilers abound)

i think in the next season, please don't have kingpin speaking any chinese.
they can just imply he understands by having madam gao speak in chinese and have him respond in english.
the audience will get that he understand mandarin.
it sounded awkward and pretty awful, probably the one thing that took me out of series.

It sounded awkward to me because listening to Wilson speak English is just as awkward. He's an awkward, uncomfortable man, and it shows no matter what language he's speaking.

only things I wasn't really a fan of was killing Urich this early and probably the suit.

But the suit can change over time so I'm ok with it now.

Does anyone from New York know if people refer to Hell's Kitchen in real life the way they do in the show? I know that in real life Hell's Kitchen is actually highly gentrified and all that, but just in terms of it having it's own identity and being referred to by name so often.

People refer to the neighborhood as Hell's Kitchen in real life. I know a nice little Turkish restaurant right near one of the Russian's places in the show (I assume it didn't get exploded.) Right now, the neighborhood's identity is "slightly less crowded and expensive than Broadway and Times Square", but it was the way the show and comics portray it years ago.

Honestly? I didn't really like any of the stuff with The Hand and Stick. It felt really out of place to me, and I just found it all kind of boring. I get that it's in Frank Miller's run, and I get that they're setting up for The Defenders, but I was waaaaaaay more interested in The Kingpin, and all of that felt like a weird distraction to me.

Although, I did like Stick and Matt's relationship. That was cool. Just not the ninja plot it was woven into.

All in all, though, it really didn't detract from the show for me, and I thought the show was great!

The final episode. Derivative cliched predictable. Very happy that new show runners are coming in.

Everything else was stellar. The best tv sh show of all time.

1.His red costume looked to much like Flash and Batman,it should of been a simple skin tight red suit.
2.Lack of his Billy Club,I wanted to see him swing from rooftops with it.
3.Lack of sonar vision,I want to see him see in the dark, through smoke, see guys through walls.

I really don't understand the appeal of the radar vision. I was glad we only ever got one brief shot of it.

Are you serious? Its cool because he can see in any situation. Not seeing it is like seeing Spider-Man not using his webs,it's part of his character.

He can "see" in any situation wether the show uses that visual device or not. It's a visual device that works in the comics, but you absolutely do not need in a medium that has sound.

And ultimately, it's a visual device that you should ditch if you don't need it. Daredevil cannot see. He is blind. His eyes do not work. His radar "vision" is not what he is seeing, it's what he is imagining as he processes non-visual sensory input. The radar "vision" confuses that, and is best avoided when it isn't necessary.

But he is a superhero, and that is his super power. If we don't get to see it,then he is just a vigilante.Daredevil isn't suppose to be realistic,if they wanted that then they should of made a Punisher series.

We see it in action. We see him reacting to things that he shouldn't be able to perceive. We hear him hearing things that should be outside of a normal hearing range. We don't need a visual cue when we have sound editing.

The radar vision is completely unnecessary when sound is available to you, and it muddled the fact that despite his powers, Matt Murdock is still blind and cannot engage in the world around him visually.

DD has always had a unique "vision". It's pretty much expected of him. They really cheaped out on giving us any examples of it though.

Because it's a visual device that works and is necessary in a static and silent medium, but is unnecessary in a medium that has movement and sound, and can be detrimental from the standpoint of cinematic language.

Geeze, some of the complaints in this place about the fighting and radar vision. Look, this is the first season, they can't reveal all of their tricks in the first season. They need to save some stuff to wow you in the second season, so just relax, they'll bring it!

Killing Urich.

No "DD" on uniform, they BETTER put it on season two.

-Ben dying

-Vanessa and Fisk romance felt forced. Not sure how many days or weeks passed but she was madly in love and devoted to him pretty fast.

-the show ended

There aren't many negatives at all for me. This was essentially his origin so no super villains won't be an issue for me. I expect season 2 to be much better.

I didn't like how little we saw of Claire.

i still havent figure out how did the russians know about Claire's connection with the Mask (daredevil) en route to them kipnapping her to lure the Mask to them?

i thought the same. i tend to think it was a budget thing and they pushed the radar image thing aside for budget reasons.

I disagree. I think it was a stylistic choice to not show the radar vision. It just... wasn't needed. We saw it once, to get a basic understanding of his power, but we didn't need to go into that vision constantly. They found much more interesting ways to show what he could do.

I mean honestly, would that hallway fight have been better if it kept cutting to radar vision?

Just to be clear, I was referring specifically to the advantages Matt was granted because of his accident. For a man who doesn't possess superpowers, he can do a lot of impossible ****.

But... he does have superpowers. So there's your problem right there.

One of my favorite aspects of the season was the lack of radar vision. They used sound cues for that instead. It was creative and they trusted that we would understand how his powers would work from them.

I dislike how Fisk killed everyone off and basically became this man-child at the very of the show. He's a big guy with anger issues, we understand that. The beheading of Anatoly was plenty as well as admitting his past to Vanessa. But killing of Owsley and Ben was just too much for me. It just went overboard and got a little bit ridiculous. D'Onofrio sold it. He's a great actor and at the very end in white he really, really looked like the Kingpin. But otherwise I felt like everything post-Russians was a bit meh. Enjoyable, but not as strong.

The final fight scene was drab. The first two big fight scenes in the season were just so stellar that the show couldn't keep up.

I don't know. Considering how that's DD's unique "power" I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to see it utilized. But I think budget was the deciding factor on a lot of choices here.

Me neither, but to be fair to the show they could only get Rosario for the amount of episodes she was in (five I think) due to her schedule.
