Daredevil What you DIDNT like from Daredevil Season 1(spoilers abound)

But it was utilized. We saw many examples of it being utilized. It was mostly through audio cues and not visual ones, but even then we got a few examples of it by some blurred borders when a certain character was lying. Matt's superpower is a very subtle one, and it was portrayed subtly.

Can not having the DD on his costume be a complaint. We officially see the name in the last episode. He could very well take up the name and add the DD. 1st season was an origin which did a fantastic job, I expect a good amount more from the comics in season 2.

I disagree. I think it was a stylistic choice to not show the radar vision. It just... wasn't needed. We saw it once, to get a basic understanding of his power, but we didn't need to go into that vision constantly. They found much more interesting ways to show what he could do.

I mean honestly, would that hallway fight have been better if it kept cutting to radar vision?

The hallway fight would have been ruined if they kept cutting to radar vision.

I would not care if we never see the radar vision flames again. As long as they show him actually reacting to his surroundings I'm fine.

The only thing I didn't like from the season was Ben Urich being killed off. It felt like a cheap death just to "raise the stakes" and subsequent interviews by the showrunner have show it to be just that. Urich's death isn't needed to move the plot forward and doesn't make Fisk any more menacing. It was a just a waste of a great character played brilliantly by Vondie Curtis-Hall.

I liked his death actually. I was spoiled going into it, I knew his demise was coming, but I think it was handled well. But I won't disagree with anyone sad that we won't see the character anymore, I really liked the guy in the role and he brought out exactly what I loved about the character growing up.
I also think the Kingpin might take the cake as the best villain in the MCU, and his relationship with Vanessa was also one of the best romances they've done.

My cousin just watched this, she pointed something out that she says has been going on in TV shows for a while now. Whenever there is a white female character and then a non white female character, they will make the white character as beautiful, perfect, hair never out of place, and yet kick ass at the same time while the non white character looks tired, hair dishevele, damsel in distress, and that seemed to happen with Karen and Clair. Granted, no matter how bad they tried to make Rosario Dawson look, doesn't even take a blind man to see she is far hotter than the Karen chick could ever wish to be. I also liked her spunky personality over Karen's too. I really hope she comes back in the second season as full cast member.

Daredevil's senses... cheap looking and uninspiring, aside from 'my world is on fire'.

Yeah, that's been happening in film and television for decades. It doesn't happen as often as it used to but it still a problem.

I see Claire coming back for season 2, but I also see her showing up in some of the other Netflix shows too.

1) Killing Urich.
2) Fisk "speaking" Chinese?
3) Needed more Claire.

Other than that, brilliant show.

1. The credits of the final episode and realizing that I have to wait a WHOLE YEAR to see more.

2.

I don't know about that. Seemed to me they made Karen look pretty rough in the first episode. They didn't go out of their way to make Claire look bad, though she obviously looked a little rough after getting beaten up.

The overly sentimental stuff that went on too long between Foggy-Matt, Foggy-Karen, Karen-Matt, Ben-Karen but mostly I had issues with Karen. Some of her dialogue went on too long.

I honestly wished she got killed off before Ben. Ben was a much much better character compared to Karen. And she basically got him killed.

I'm not totally convinced with Elden Henson's acting. He moves his arms too much and his timing is off often times.

He's easily the worst part of the show for me.

Watched episode #13 again and one thing that bothered me was the score for the final half of the show. Specifically, when DD finally gets suited up and takes on KP. It was overdone and just out of place for what we got for the 1st 12 episodes. The fight, dialogue, and final scenes weren't bad at all. The background music snatched it into Flash/Arrow/ CW territory.

The biggest notice was the episode where Karen came into Matt's apartment to give him a balloon, being all cute and stuff, then later on, getting kidnapped by Wesley. And she's at least fought off her attackers twice (the guard in the beginning and Wesley) Clair didn't even get in so much as a kick.

Sad thing is, why not show Clair all dolled up getting ready to go out like Karen seemed to be halfway through the season? You have to be blind to not see that they are making Karen as pretty as they can and Clair not so much, they probably knew from the get go that most of the audience would be rooting for Clair over Karen, simply because Rosario Dawson is an outstanding actress.

And, if Daredevil ever manages to crossover with the Avengers, it would be awesome for Dawson and Jeremy Renner to maybe do a song and dance, just for kicks.

my friend either won't admit to this show being better than arrow... or he's truly deluded into thinking arrow is the superior show....

he also doesn't like some of the acting (including and especially from vincent ) , and says it takes 4 episodes to get interesting.

i think i need a new friend.

as of now ? i can't think of very many complaints other than those that were mentioned ; i didn't like how rosario dawson kinda just dissappeared and foggy's " he's blind and handsome so he instantly scores wtf lololol " jokes got kinda old after, like , the 5 billionth time.

There was no real comic book spectacle in any of the action. No real cinematic action set pieces.

DD got beat too easily and too often.

The excessive violence (and to an extent) profanity was off putting some of the time.

Way too many long conversations. Some that could've been edited as to improve the pace and a few that could've been whacked all together.

The costume really should've came in earlier. There's really no excuse for them holding out so long in this day and age.

Only ONE token shot of his Radar Sense.

No real supervillians to speak of. We got Red Ninja guy,but that's about it.

A lot of my problems can be summed up in their mindset of "Telling, not showing". We don't get to see Matt save the guy that resulted in his blindness, only the aftermath. We don't actually see Battlin' Jack Box in the ring, only the aftermath. The aforementioned lack of radar sense.Even the action was affected by this many times. For example in the last episode where the camera focuses on the crooked cop's face instead of actually letting us see DD in action. (I mean the show is called "Daredevil" right? I'm not wrong for actually wanting to see him in action, right?) I don't know if it's a product of their minimalist framework for the show or working with a TV budget, but they certainly didn't rise above TV's limitations.

I really don't see why people have looked past some of these seemingly obvious flaws. Perhaps once the bloom is off the rose. But, I found most of the show fairly underwhelming.

I wouldn't mind more super villains in season 2, but I don't want to lose the sense of the cohesive story telling the first season and go for the type of freak of the week stories we see in the network comic book shows, in Gotham half of Batman's rogues gallery has already been introduced before Batman has reached adulthood. I disagree with a lot your criticism, because this felt more like a cable show then a network show and it seemed like they put making a good show above making it as comic booky as possible and I think that is the most important thing, otherwise you get Gotham. They had some comic booky elements, but clearly they were trying to make a cable level quality show and really Breaking Bad and the Wire had the same level of violence, so I think the violence fits the subject matter.

I wouldn't want an episode where DD fights Stilt-Man and that has nothing to do with the main story. Villains have to fit in the show's tone and contribute to the story, rather then trying to cram in a bunch of silly villains from the Silver age who never fit in with DD after the 80s.

Bullseye and Elektra are a good fit, other hired guns like Bullet and maybe Bushwacker. Owlsley Jr, may become Owl (though we will see how close he is to the comics) and really Mr. Fear could fit, considering his day job was being a lawyer at one point, he could easily be a corrupt lawyer.

Karen is the weak link of the show. She's not very interesting or entertaining. Particularly, the thing between Foggy and Karen was just boring. It didn't mean anything, anyway, because Foggy hooks up with his old girlfriend and Karen doesn't bat an eye.

I didn't like Fisk. I know that isn't a popular opinion in these parts. It was well acted. I appreciated what D'Onfario did, but I did not like the route the writers went with him (the whole man-child thing).

Why do people have to see racism in everything? The first episode Karen was an absolute wreck. The second she was steaming drunk and a mess.
Clair was slightly disheveled because it was night and she was at home. She had just dragged DD out of the garbage and up a few flights of stairs.
The whole series portrayed Clair as wise, smart and brave. Karen is portrayed as an emotional wreck. That is why the hero is interested in Clair not Karen.

Yep. I like her. She's messed up and is only getting worse. Don't know about becoming a drug addict porn star. But she's going to have issues. Drink, painkillers. At least for the second series.
