The Last Wish by Andrezj Sapkowski. The hero, Geralt de Rivia, is very similar to Moorcock's Elric. He's nicknamed White Wolf, and even depends on constant use of potions for his health. Geralt differs in that he works as a bounty hunter that pursues striga, spriggans, werewolves, and all manner of supernatural beast. This book is a collection of short stories preceeding the main cycle.

I temporarily set aside "A Storm of Swords" to read the "Man of Steel" movie novelization (by Greg Cox) which I have just finished (in less than a day). It's a good film novelization :)

A song of fire and ice -- R R Martin

Horror of Dunwich.

Actually reading a bunch of Lovecraft work.

Nice guy.

goddess by josephine angelini, reading it now actually

what did you think of the series so far?

The writing isn't always the greatest I've ever read, but I appreciate how it's not afraid to go pretty dark for a book technically geared towards a younger audience, and it's got some great twists and turns to it as well.

i agree. sometimes it's written really well and other times, it's well, it's not lol

but like you said, i like how it tests boundaries

Check out the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I think that might be something you would like. I recommended it to Pickles some months back, but don't think she's had a chance to read any of it yet.

Just finished "A Storm of Swords" (George R.R. Martin, A Song of Ice & Fire Book 3) last night, now starting up Book 4 "A Feast for Crows"

Warhammer 4000 - Horus Heresy - 5 - Flight Of The Eisenstein

I gotta say, in the past few weeks since I've discovered WH4K (starting with book 19 and jumping back to 1) I've been pretty much living in that world. They are good reads. War, treachery, brutal battles on land and in space, politics (close to my beloved castle intrigue). Only thing is, now the series if giving me damn nightmares. Vividly written, brutal battle scenes with destruction on a scale I've never imagined before is clearly having an effect on me.
