Freedom and Necessity by Steven Brust and Emma Bull

One of the best historical mysteries I've ever read. I really found myself loving the four main characters and becoming terrified when they were in danger. The plot was intelligent as well, with a lot of twists and turns, and the solution wasn't a letdown, which is a rare occurrence for me. My only complaint is all the philosophical mumbo jumbo that was peppered throughout the story. It mostly felt unnecessary and I never understood any of it anyway.
