city of fallen angels - cassandra clare

i'm bout halfway now

The Scarecrow --Scott Nicholson

The Narrow Gate -- Scott Nicholson

Mean Streets. A compilation of four stories from Jim Butcher, Simon R. Green, Kat Richardson and Thomas E. Sniegoski.

I've already read Jim Butcher's Dresden story "The Warrior" before so I skipped it and straight to Green's "The Difference a Day Makes" which has me interested in reading that book series now. I'm about to start Sniegoski's "Noah's Orphans" which reviews seem to say is quite good but controversial to those with deep religious beliefs.

The Metamorphosis and Other Stories - Franz Kafka

I read Metamorphosis about 12-13 years ago. It's a very strange story, but then that's what Kafka is famous for.

finally finished city of fallen angels this morning

read the fairy tale The Sleeping Beauty at work tonight

The last book I read was 'Escape from camp 14', quite different from the other books mentioned in this thread, its the true story of one of a handful known escapees from the labour camps in North Korea, pretty hard reading

Mirror Sight by Kristen Britain (Green Rider Book #5). Took me 2 days to read 770+ pages. Good book, good sequel (IMO). There were some things I predicted early on that did come to pass (thankfully, some of them she didn't make me wait until the end of the book to verify), and there were also some twists that I didn't see coming.

It was a different book than I was expecting though. I wasn't quite prepared for the large majority of it to take place with Karigan (the M.C.) lost/trapped in another time. It does make me eager for the next book to come out - now that Karigan is back in her proper time and she can once again interact with characters we've come to know and love while hopefully preventing the (dark) future she was lost in.

Of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor

this is the third book of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and i started it last night and i'm already on chapter 24. some of these chapters are very short but still. it really hooked me from the get go and if it stays as strong as it started, this might be one of the better trilogies i've read in a while
