The Crow - 8/10

I'm glad my expectations weren't shattered by all the love this has been getting for so long. It truly is a good film. I love Proyas' direction. It feels very 90's and grunge inspired, and again, it's its own thing. The cinematagraphy is ****ing awesome. Those sweeping camera movements of the buildings across the city. The crow gliding along with it. With all that dark lighting with some red thrown in. Awesome. And Brandan Lee gives a great performance. For someone as haunted and revenge driven as he is, he is very likeable. There's some moments that The Crow does that would fit great in a Batman film. The plot structure is good too. After watching Sudden Impact last week, which kind of had a similar idea, this on the other hand didn't fall into redundancy. There's revenge, but it never feels the same. I liked how the film started with Draven's death and how it got into the plot immediately. Draven's past life are shown through fragments and moments that wouldn't really seem to fit with the overall aesthetic. Had it started with his past life then into his death it would have been pretty boring. What happens here works.

Batman Begins

On Blu Ray. Now I have my three favorite Batman films on Blu Ray. Can't wait to have my marathon next July before TDKR comes out.

:up::up: on both accounts.

Badlands - 10/10

Danny Boyle's Frankenstein - 4/10

Jesus, this guy's becoming a late De Palma for me.

.

Check out the comic. I like the movie, but I strongly prefer the original material over it. Proyas and Co. made an adaptation with more conventional sentiments, which there's nothing wrong with, but the book's pace and characterization really nail it.

The best since the first, clunky fun with some cool car chase sequences. 7/10

I might. I'm pretty tight on money right now. I've definitely been curious on them beforehand.

I couldn't allow myself to do that.

I'm holding off on the Nolan ones until after TDKR, because I'm hoping for some kind of epic anthology edition.

SHOWDOWN starring Rock Hudson and Dean Martin.

Death Hunt

A great film for the Man vs. Wild fans out there. This is as badass as you'd expect of a movie about Lee Marvin (with Carl Weathers!) trying to hunt down Charles Bronson. However, the true story behind the hunt for The Mad Trapper is actually very fascinating. I recommend anyone who has seen this, or intends to, to read up on the true story as well.

3/5

The King's Speech - I was certain this would be some stuffy Oscar-winning foreign film that would keep me bored for 2 hours, and so I went into it with a great amount of dread but surprise! it was a very entertaining movie. Also very funny and with some very good performances. Colin Firth earned his statue and Geoffrey Rush was excellent as always. Great film. 9/10
