Jonah Hex: It was kinda alright and sucks at the same time. IDK why.
Avatar Last Airbender: Ok, I know that cartoon is wayy better than the movie itself. Chessy.
Piranha 3d: This is a porn movie.

Now I know what I'm watching tonight.......now I also wanna dig up a term paper I did on the film for my film theory/history class a couple years ago :yay: sweet memories

...haven't checked out part two. I've heard its not as good as part 1, should I still check it out? I love the part 1, its on of my all time faves...I just don't wanna be disappointed by part II...

Definitely one of my favorites as well, as you can probably tell by my avvy.
I actually have not seen the second part either mostly due to the same reasons as you. I really don't see the need for the second one as the first one really wraps up all the themes together. Just because the main characters are on the run doesn't mean the story needs to go on.

I'd love to hear more about your term paper. What are your thoughts on some of the ending scenes? Particularly the teacher and his water gun and picture of the girl?

The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I really enjoyed this movie. Great Disney movie that didn't deal with pirates. The blonde girl was hot. The after credits scene sets up great for a sequel and I hope they make another.

Just finished I Am Number Four. Good Excitment movie. The blonde girl that was in the Sorcerer's Apprentice showed up and she was hot.

8/10

Just finished Pirahana 3D. Not so good. Boobs are good.

Sudden Impact - 5/10

This started out great. As I love the restaurant scene in the beginning. That was on the levels of the original. Then it just fell into being a forumlaic and redundant as hell movie. Eastwood as Harry is the only thing great about this film, as he has alot of great lines.

This is true of all the Dirty Harry sequels. The only one I sorta liked was The Enforcer.

Haven't seen The Enforcer. I while back it was on and once the 70's jive music started playing I was done.

I did sort of like Magnum Force. But even that was kind of weak.

Magnum Force had such a great concept which was executed so badly. It felt like the typical rushed sequel. I did love the scene in which Harry resolves an airplane hijacking. Man, all those flicks are worth watching for Eastwood alone. Come to think of it, I haven't seen the Dead Pool yet. I'll have to watch it just for having seen the whole series.
And damn, how great would if had been if Gran Torino actually was the final Dirty Harry film, as rumoured in pre-production. As it is now, it's pretty enjoyable but again for Eastwood alone....

Yeah I feel like the sequels had great concepts that just weren't as well executed as they could have been. Sudden Impact is much like Magnum Force in that regard. All the sequels fall into some of those anti hero movie cliches whereas the original film had a much more potent message it was trying to get across. The end of the movie says it all when Harry throws away his badge. The sequels toned that down and went a little more by the numbers.

I still love the series though because like you said Eastwood is a great anchor. You can't help but watch him. Magnum Force is probably my favorite of the sequels because of the concept alone even if the execution wasn't perfect.

The Dead Pool is interesting just to see a young Jim Carrey and a young Liam Neeson.

I hated how that was ignored in Magnum Force, like nothing ever happened. And it's true that every DH flick is chock-full of amazing Eastwood badassery. The movies would make a good movie marathon I think, you start with the great one and your attention span gets shorter and shorter when you get to the bad ones. And you just have some fun with badass Eastwood.

Yeah, that hijacking plane scene was excellent.

The thing is Sudden Impact also had a good concept. I loved the idea of Harry being in a different time with his ways not being relevant with the times. And the idea of a woman doing the killings is such a great symbol of that. But it was all executed poorly. And Eastwood directed it too. It's still badass when he shows up on the boardwalk with him in silhouette.

I was thinking that myself. Either way, it's a good way for Eastwood to go out. His last scene perfectly shows who he's always been as a figure in film.

I had no expectations going in. This is the strangest little indie-rock-vampire-comedy thing you'll ever see. It's odd and demented and will leave you either thinking what you witnessed was wickedly brilliant or stupidly awful.

I fall into the former with its appearances by Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, awesome Rocky Horror-esque musical moments (but with better music), recreated album covers and all the humor of a band killing more people as they become more famous and it not mattering. Plus Malcolm MacDowell as a one-eyed Eddie Van Helsing tracking the band down.

Highlights include Moby playing a metal rocker known as "Secretary of Steak" as well as "Meat" getting his junk bit off and the band sitting down with a radio personality/music critic near the end. This was a lot of fun.
