Prince of the City - 8/10

Being that this is an inspiration towards The Dark Knight Rises, I couldn't help but check it out. I can definitely see how Nolan is influenced by it. The themes in his Batman films and this have a lot in common. The question of how far you are willing to go to root out corruption. Where right and wrong rests on morality and the law. It's a very thought provoking subject. It's lengthy, but the length is justified. As there is alot to cover with the characters and process. Treat Williams gives a damn fine performance.
.

Good one from Lumet. Have you seen The Pawnbroker? That's another overlooked one of his.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Good stuff. Not sure where they would go with a 5th film. Usually the ending hints at something. Was there an ending credit scene? Anyone?

It was a scene with Angelica, who finds Blackbeard's voodoo doll of Jack Sparrow, which was washed ashore on the island.

The Hangover. Part II. I hated the first and the second was no better.

I downloaded this movie but have yet to watch it. I must watch this movie and write a critical essay about it for my Latin America History through Film class. Care to give any ideas? Anyone who has seen it?

Sorry not Total Recall. Collateral Damage. It's set in Columbia I believe. Any critical, in depth, insighth would be good.

when in Thailand one must remember the color code:
if they are wearing white:born woman
if they are wearing red:Pre-Op
if they are wearing gold: Post-Op

I've been to Thailand so many times and this movie brought back many memories

Thanks for that!

Unfortunately...

They where wearing red dresses, which means he was either hand or orally pleasured by a pre-op!

:barf:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Utterly superb film making right here.

That is a sick poster.

Nope. I've only seen this, Dog Day Afternoon, 12 Angry Men, and Murder on the Orient Express. I should definitely check out the rest of his films though.

Then you wasted money on the sequel to a film you already hated. We don't pity you.

You know, I liked this movie. It wasn't anything stellar but it's probably the last film Stallone has done that I enjoyed on some level at least.

Its a pretty good movie. Not great but good. Certainly solid and entertaining. I felt it was missing some punch and edge and then i read up on its development and found out that Donner toned down the Wachowski's script. That explains why.

Its not as good as Copland but its still one of Stallones better efforts from the 90's.

I barely remember Copland so it didn't make much of an impression on me.

Copland is a far more nuanced film. Its not really a full on action film and with a cast like that there are a lot of good performances. Its also one of those times Stallone had to try something really different and he plays a character much more low key that what he usually does.
