Martha Marcy May Marlene

An outstanding performance by Elizabeth Olsen, I'm shocked she wasn't nominated at the Oscars. The film is a well done psychological drama but by the very end it ended abruptly.

Machine Gun Preacher

Not sure why a lot of critics weren't liking this film, It was a genuine heartfelt drama regardless of your religious position. Gerard Butler did a fine job and I was blown away by Michael Shannon's range of character.

The Golden Compass. I enjoyed it, but I never read the book.

Captain America: The First Avenger.

I hadn't seen it since seeing it in theatres. Not out of dislike or disinterest, but simply because I rarely watch movies a second or third time. However, the Avengers trailer made me want to go back and watch the other MCU films again. I enjoyed it, again.

The A-Team

Because I might as well make it a Joe Carnahan sweep. I've already declared my undying love for this film. I love visiting a body of work of certain directors. Not just to spot trademark shots and recurring themes, but to see them grow as film makers. peak, slide downhill, come back, go out with a wimper or a bang, get excited for their newest release and really the main thing for me is to indulge myself in the reasons I like them.

With Carnahan there's a raw, heart on his sleeve, emotional manliness to his films, in his films life is small and fragile, cherish it, because it will go very quickly, live it because there'll be no difference when you're gone. It's obviously prevalent in Narc and The Grey, but even in Smokin' Aces, characters don't just die, they try to hang on to life, the film stops in it's tracks so their friends go consul them, the film stops to show hitmen and cops worrying about their friends. A-Team didn't really go to that length, it's easily Carnahan's most impersonal film, which is to be expected as a major studio release, but even then, what kind of PG-13 summer blockbuster has the main character arc be about a man renouncing killing and violence, only to come to the conclusion that killing and violence is good **** and if you don't like it you're a *****.

His next film? A remake of Death Wish. ****ing perfect.

The Weather Man - 8/10

Cage Rating - 9/10

A nice little character piece. Funny and heartfelt. And Michael Caine attempts an American accent. Cage gives a very nuanced performance.

Leaving Las Vegas - 7 or 8 out of 10

Cage Rating - 10/10

Oscar well deserved. Just more proof that Cage is a fantastic talented actor. It's just disturbing to see Cage in a downward spiral as each scene progresses. Apparantly there was just one scene he was actually drunk for, but it appears there was more than that. Just a testament to his acting ability. Plus this came out before Con Air. I don't see an ounce of him from Con Air in comparison to this film at all. Two totally different people.

Oh, and Elizabeth Shue is sexy as **** in this.

Date With an Angel. Probably one of the first romantic comedies ever made.

An Education

8.5/10

Nick Hornby's screenplay is really good, as are Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgaard in the main roles.

Supergirl. It's not as bad as Superman III.

Weird Science. A very young Robert Downy Jr played a supporting role in this, and a fairly successful television show was loosely based off of the movie. Super hot Kelly Lebrock, Anthony Michael Hall, and a very funny Bill Paxton make this movie a classic. Anthony Michael Hall's performance in the bar still makes me laugh.

LOTR:The Fellowship of the Ring 10/10

For Your Eyes Only

10/10

Quite possibly Roger Moore's finest performace as 007.
