The Raid: Redemption - 4/5

REALLY GOOD action scenes throughout this film (although a bit dragged on).

The Invisible Man.

Claude Rains is awesome.

Alien. Simultaneously one of the best horror movies and best sci fi movies ever. One of those films where I wish I could go back in time and experience it in the cinema for the first time with an audience.

Black Rain. This is totally underrated, for some reason. Douglas and Garcia are great. The bad guy is awesome. One of Zimmer's best scores too.

Body of Lies. Again, this is totally underrated. I can understand it failing at the box office, considering it doesn't paint America in the greatest light. But it's just a great spy film with DiCaprio and Crowe on top form. Mark Strong is the stand out though as the Jordanian Intelligence Chief. Awesome character, my dear.

That's one hell of a triple feature. Those last two films, I completely agree are underrated. Black Rain looks like sex on Blu Ray.

The Sorcerer & The White Snake

This film is pretty terrible all around. I usually love these wuxia/wushu/wu xing/wu whatever epics because, even though they can be fairly interchangeable, they have well written stories, and they're all shot in a grand sweeping David Lean style, which showcases beautiful Chinese country side, with great action choreography that's elaborate and shot beautifully. This is The Asylum's take on one of those films. I'm not kidding. It's cheap, shot on a green screen with PS1 level CGI work and an utterly incoherent mess of a storyline. Jet Li was clearly only on set for two days, if that, disappearing and reappearing during any scene that involves him (Of which there isn't many). I guess it didn't help this fantasy film, that I'd seen the complete season of Game of Thrones a couple of days ago, but nonetheless it's from the director of Hero, he's clearly capable of better than this. Also, this was hampered by the lack of Whitesnake on the soundtrack.

Yea i've been doing some Scott-fests these last few weeks in anticipation of Prometheus :D

Machete

7.5/10

As I expected, it was a well-made, heavily stylized, ultraviolent exploitation action flick. I was pleasantly surprised that the movie's social messages fit in pretty well.

21 Jump Street

Thought it was going to be ****, but turns out, I quite enjoyed it.

Burn after reading.

8,5/10 - hilarious. Want me the chair :-))
