What's The Last Movie You Watched? XIII

Ok, it was just that you used the word 'wish', as opposed to 'hope', which suggested you didn't think you'd be able to.
But aye, I don't like artists thinking they can't aim for the top, that they are not good enough, that is what your competition want you to think.

Yeah, that was the word I was looking for. More so hope than wish.

Young Sherlock Holmes - 8 or 9 out of 10

Tons of fun. It definitely has the Chris Columbus/Spielberg touch that's a really nice fit for this story. It reminded me of Harry Potter in places, all the more reason why Columbus was a perfect fit for the first two Harry Potter films. Even though, as respectfully mentioned, it isn't part of the Doyle canon, it's a cool alternative tale on how Holmes and Watson met as young men. Also, Columbus does a great job of weaving into how Holmes becomes emotionally distant. Even if this isn't apart of the canon, I can definitely see and accept this as a way that he is able to shut off emotions in the Doyle stories and how it forms his overall character. As a Holmes fan, this is a worthy film of Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

You must have heard me tell this one before...but I always remember that they advertised for youngsters to audition for that role on a tv show, and I really wanted to...but I was not old enough. But, y'know, even if I had been the right age, I wouldn't have been able to anyway, due to certain circumstances.

Oh, and on Wednesday night, I invited about 6 of my best buds over for a premiere Blu-Ray screening of Space Jam.

Thor. Quite good. Felt it was lacking something, though. Perhaps I would've liked it more fleshed out in terms of him becoming worthy. It's touched upon but would've liked something a bit more. Once he gets the hammer back, the film is pretty much over and feels a bit short. But anyway, the film is a pleasant way to spend a few hours.

The whole portion of the film where he's stuck on Earth just seemed really like boring/cheap.

The locations and the way the plot progressed while he was on Earth just seemed very simplistic, and almost made my mind draw comparisons to a tv show like Firefly - where they were forced to write simplistic plots on mundane "planets" due to budget constraints.

Which is a shame, as any part of the movie that takes place on Asgard is awesome.

Fantastic Mr Fox

Beautiful to look at, great voice casting. Just pure Wes Anderson imagination.

I for one enjoyed Hemsworth in these Earth scenes, acting eccentric to humans. I like eccentric. It worked for me.

...I didn't say there was anything wrong with the character development or acting. They were quite strong throughout. I was addressing the plot and setting.

You really don't seem to be that quick on the uptake,

I recently re-watched Thor for the third time, and I enjoyed his time on Earth too. Is just that there's a big gap in the movie where there's no-- Thor.

Kickboxer 4

This was on it's way to being a 10 outta 10 action movie. David Sloane not giving a single **** and just beating everyone senseless until he found his wife and killed Tong Po (Who went from brutal badass in the first to flamboyant drug dealing rapist with a Red Skull/Henry Silva face in this one), then they introduced the pointless supporting characters and the film just stalled and meandered around to an anticlimactic ending. What is Sasha Mitchell doing these days anyway? The dude was only born in 1967, why isn't he in Van Damme's team in EX2? Or in any of the Undisputed films?

2/5

I know you didn't. I am commenting on what I liked about the Earth scenes. Gee wiz. Everything doesn't have to be a battle.
