What's YOUR favorite ensemble/epic story from DC?

Single: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tommorow.

Mini: Kingdom Come

Arc: Batman: Hush

Sorry folks, but I'm just not getting Watchmen.I finished reading it a while back on a drive to DC.Re-read it a couple weeks ago,and still don't get the appeal. There were good parts and bad parts. But overall,I couldn't grasp this as a whole.

Hal Jordan has gotten to you.

Being serious, I think the appeal behind Watchmen is not the story itself (which I think its brilliant) but how it affected everything in the industry and changed everyone's views of heroes. Though as ive said before, Squadron Supreme presented this first.

I've yet to even make it all the way through Watchmen. :o:(

Single Issue: The Question VS. The Riddler
Arc: Green Lantern: Old Path, New Journey
Mini: DC: The New Frontier
Creative Run: Neil Gaiman's Sandman

Take it slow and take notes. Report is due in 2 weeks.

Well, if we're talking single issues then I might have to go with Young Justice/The Titans: Graduation Day.

As far as arcs go, it's New Teen Titans: the Judas Contract for me.

And I never really understood Watchmen's mass appeal, either (when I first read it) until I read alot of stuff that had been done before it. It kind of changed the look and feel of comics during the late 80s and 90s (with help from DKR, of course).

I was born in '89, which may help to explain my ignorance.

I'll say The Killing Joke, although I don't have too much DC.

Dark Knight returns/Watchmen/Kingdom Come...They changed everything
Yeah I'll go with that and add The Killing Joke, Arkham Asylum and V for Vendetta. All great books. Oh . . . and just about anything from the Alan Grant/ Breyfogle run on Detective Comics. Best Batman run ever!

Well...my own personal views are as follows...

Pre-Crisis
Connor`s drug problem

Post Crisis

The Death Of Superman,i know some may not like it.But the idea of something killing Superman,Doomsday appeals to me.

The Judas Contract, perhaps the greatest Teen Titans story ever.

Batman,The Dark Knight Returns.Perhaps the greatest Batman story ever told.

I'm not a fan of Watchmen myself. I respect it for what it does, but every time I read the story, I just go back and thinl "So what?"

Now DKR, I just plain hate. The story is overrated. The dialogue is trash and the effect it had on the industry speaks for itself. Thank god those overtly dark stories are gone. God forbid Superman actually have a personality.

Loved Golden Age btw too. That ending was Gold.

I read DKR as a Michael Bay movie in which he tried way too hard to be deep and meaningful. I cant say I hate the book itself, but hate the fact that so many people are influenced by it and you have *****ebags like meltzer that say its canon.

Well.... the point is, Alan Scott kicks ass no matter what world he's in. If it were up to me, GA would be canon.

Problem is, people don't worship Michael Bay. I swear, if Miller took a dump on a comic, people would praise it as the second coming of Christ. The fact that ASBAR gets the sales it does, and is quite possibly the worse Batman story ever, proves that.

COIE, Dark Knight Returns, and The Long Halloween come to mind.

I agree with everything but i like the darker batman pre-IC

Best event: Not to be cliche, but Infinite Crisis. The amount of planning and sidestorying and skill and respect that went into creating it is beyond anything I'd ever read.

Best creative run: Peter David's Supergirl.

Best arc: Brad Meltzer's Green Arrow "Archer's Quest." You're a bastard, Ollie Queen. You knew.

Best single issue: Green Lantern #154 by Judd Winick. I often tout this as the single issue that actually first got me into following DC.

Best Graphic Novel: Kingdom Come

I think he was playing off the last line of the book.

Anyway,

Best single issue: Animal Man #5.
Best story-arc: JLA #22 - 23.
Best mini-series: Justice League Elite.
Best run: Morrison and Porter on JLA.

I've been meaning to read Watchmen just haven't gotten around. But, I agree with you about DKR. It bothers the crap outta me that people worship Miller for that story. You should see some of the chats in the Allstar Batman thread...

Ya know man, as much as I loved Batman Year one and TDKR . . . I hate how much Miller has made Batman a psychotic a$$ in ASB&R! Dini and Ross nailed the true essence of The Batman in War on Crime. That's the how I've always deemed Batman psychologicaly and emotionaly.
