Old comics. Read old comics. That's what they're there for, after all. Nostalgia. Let sleeping dogs lie. The source can be used as inspiration, but should never dictate the direction of a new interpretation. Especially if it doesn't make sense within the reinterpretations context. The setup is completely different here than from the comics. Gwen holds similarities to her comics counterpart, but is also VERY different in alot of ways: She's tougher, more brazen and empowered, and kinda badass. Oh, yeah, and most importantly: SHE KNOWS PETER IS SPIDER-MAN. It doesn't make any sense for Gwen to die in this context, and beyond "It happened in the comics!" there's no reason why she should. I mean, Web Face himself said that he didn't even care about anything but seeing it happen for no other reason than just because it happened in the comics, making our entire argument pointless.
