The Amazing Spider-Man When and how should Gwen Stacy die?

The source can be used as inspiration, but should never dictate the direction of a new interpretation. Especially if it doesn't make sense within the reinterpretations context. The setup is completely different here than from the comics. Gwen holds similarities to her comics counterpart, but is also VERY different in alot of ways: She's tougher, more brazen and empowered, and kinda badass. Oh, yeah, and most importantly: SHE KNOWS PETER IS SPIDER-MAN. It doesn't make any sense for Gwen to die in this context, and beyond "It happened in the comics!" there's no reason why she should. I mean, Web Face himself said that he didn't even care about anything but seeing it happen for no other reason than just because it happened in the comics, making our entire argument pointless.

I'm not sure what the trilogy would be trying to say by killing her. Pete should've listened to George? Okay, then. Shouldn't his warning apply to all women though? I mean, if we're to take the Captain's words to heart, then, Peter shouldn't be with any girl, as they would be in danger, same as Gwen was. The same rule that applies to her should apply to all women. So many of you are so caught up in your fanboy whack circles and wanting it to be "like in the comics!" that your not thinking about how that wouldn't make any sense. Now that's not to say killing her CAN'T make sense, in fact, I specifically laid out how it could make sense, and work, in my FIRST POST. Most of the scenarios here though are essentially "Gwen dies, then Peter gets with MJ!", which is digusting by the way. I can see it now: So what if a girl died because I was with her? Where's all this supposed "love" of Peter and all his relatable "human" qualities and "flaws," huh? It gets to the point where it becomes clear your grasping at straws, trying to make excuses and justifications for why Gwen should die, when, in fact, for most of them it's an issue of fanboy fear of change syndrome or Peter/Mary-Jane shipper goggles. Just want to say, seeing your favorite comic book moments in live action instead of on a page is a great feeling. I myself would prefer if they first cover Spider-man's greatest and most famous stories in the comics before doing anything crazy with the characters.

Personally, I'd rather not ruin the effect and power of the comics by having it be diluted on film.

Voted for option 1. You gotta drop her off the bridge, thats so iconic, and Green Goblin has to do it too. Show this towards the end of movie 2, ending the movie on a ****ed up note, much like other second installments of a trilogy (Empire Strikes Back and The Dark Knight) did.

Introduce Mary Jane in movie 2 and in the beginning of movie 3 Peter will be in a dark place and they can show how him and Mary Jane fall in love in movie 3.

I guess that makes sense. That is why I want it to exactly like the comics, with the smallest amount of changes. If they change too much, sure, it can be refreshing and interesting, but it is also more risky. Making it like the comics is just the safer option if they are going to do it.

You're just really wrong. I mean other than for the sake of trolling you haven't said anything to prove your point.

The reason she died in the comics was because they wanted pete to be single. The reason she's gonna die in the movie is because Peter chose to stay with her and allowed her to be a part of his Spider-Man adventures. It's cause and effect. The story of Spider-Man is personal tragedy.

He is a character that tries to do the right thing but is selfless, so in order to pay and hurt the universe wills those around him to pay. The story teaches you don't do what's right, because it's in YOUR best intrest, but because it's in the best interest of the innocent.

The death of Gwen Stacy is also an allegory for the loss of a first love. She's taken away from Peter by someone he thought was in the past. He fights back and tries to keep her, and when she's gone at first examination he blames the one who took her. Then from examining what really happened he learns it was actually his fault, she's gone. You have the whole world of what if scenarios, but at the end of the day whats done is done.

Lots of prominent love interests have died in the comics, but people see Gwens murder as classic because it has such a deeper meaning. It's something that really hits people at home. The fact you think that it's a bad story to adapt is avid opinion, but it would not be the right coarse of action. Being "badass" isn't a reason a character shouldn't die.

I think That the Green Goblin should drop her off the bridge.
One of the reason why is because when Peter tried to save he in the end not intentionally killed her, and he blames himself for that,It is a turning point for his character and not to mention it is Iconic.
