When are we going to get a directors cut of Batman 1989?

Meh...I'd be much more interested in a proper extended cut of Batman Forever...that movie was really hurt with the material removed...89's extra footage is basically fluff, IMO. Not really missing anything important.

Yeah, burton has said the theatrical cut is the final cut. He didn't want to add any things for the SE like Shumacher did for BF.
If they were able to find them they should've put these scenes on the dvd as deleted scenes.
RE: BF deleted scenes. I like the cut on the SE, I'd like to have a cut with the deleted scenes integrated, but, I don't think they would improve the film, they seem a little less well acted and directed to me than the rest of the film, a little flat. Possibly with the exception of the Arkham scene at the start, although i'm not sure how well it would sit in the movie, you'd go from Two-Face's escape staright to the fact he is on a job, he'd have to be a very quick organiser for that set up.

I hate that this extended/unrated/director's cut fad has really convinced people that every movie with at least one deleted scene somehow isn't finished. For the most part, the films that were released in theaters WERE the director's cuts.

Yeah, not every film gets butchered in the editing room. I do wish that more films would have the option to insert the deleted scenes into the film, though.

I agree. BF would be the directors cut I want the most. So much was cut out of it that we have never seen...

Yeah, probably extra butt shots of Batman and Robin in costume :oldrazz:

Thats what iam saying. its probably a good thing alot of scene s were cuts its obvious Schumachers take on Batman was not a very good one no need to add extra scenes to an already sub par film

Is this happening yet?

I really don't think the Burton movies need a director's cut at all. Plus if you read his many interviews, he often states how difficult and painful it is for him to go back and watch his movies again... so I highly doubt he would enjoy chopping them up again.

Batman and Batman Returns are his movies... He has said what he has to on Batman and seems quite proud of them, flaws and all.

Plus... I don't see a Batman Forever cut coming anytime soon - WB had the perfect opportunity with it's 10th anniversary and passed.

Go watch the deleted scenes, they bring a lot more to character and only add to the darkness of the film. Batman Forever is not a sub par film, it's differen than the first two, as much as I would have enjoyed seeing a third Burton film...Schumacher brought a much needed change and lightness to the franchise.

Pretty neat seeing those extra clips so many years after seeing the movie. I don't think there needs to be a Directors cut that has a minute an 16 seconds worth of footage. Its been a couple months since Ive seen Batman so I'll have to pop it in when its officially the 20 anniversary

I would be interested if with BF they did like the Alien edit by Ridley Scott.
Rather than just adding in new scenes to the existing footage, he went back and edited alot of the scenes that he felt slowed down the film and actually made the running time shorter.

I feel that if Schumaker did that with BF you would get an interesting re-telling of his story, I know he wanted a darker film to a degree (he wanted to make Millers Year One) but was happy for the studio to make cuts.

I really cant see Burton making any re-edits to his films as that is the final cut in his eyes.

I dont know if anything could improve B&R :yay:

I perfer a BF Director's Cut since it's been talked about so many times but hasnt happen yet.

Add the missing scenes back in and others back in the right order.

I'm surprised no fan has taken it upon themselves to just edit the deleted scenes from Forever back into the movie themselves. Most of the scenes in question are readily available on the DVD and blu ray releases.

I'm perfectly happy with the cut of Batman that's out there, but it would have been nice to see the deleted scenes on either the '05 DVD or the new Blu-ray.

A directors Cut of Batman will probably never happen. Even if it did, I would expect to see less scenes, not more. If Burton made a directors cut of this film, he's give it more of his (later developed) style, but it would butcher what is already loved about this movie in a needless sacrifice.
