When the Wrestling Thread Got the Answers, HE Changed the Questions

My apologizes. I assume this was a sex tape made with his awareness. I was clearly wrong about that.

That being said, this is the Sterling situation all over again. Him not knowing he was being recorded doesn't change his words. If anything, it confirms his feelings.

While its true that it doesnt change what he said, what about the context?

Im 100% sure that we all had once a really bad day, so bad that we said things that were not okay...because we needed to vent and all that.
Who says Hogan didnt had such a day as he was recorded?

Who says he didnt just needed to lash out verbaly?

It doesnt excuse him, we live in the year 2015, racism in an kind of way, either due to one single word or so...is something that should not happen in the first place.

The WWE has no other choice but to react that harsh with him.
With the Current Situation in the country, everything else would hurt their image..and that is what the wwe cares most about.

They keep Hogan and it would be a nightmare PR wise for the WWE. If they had kept Hogan, Al Sharpton would be bashing the WWE and believing that he represents all black people yet again and (although it may not happen to this extreme) all of the black superstars/divas will walk out of the WWE.

I've had bad days and have never gone on a racist rant. I that find that thinking a poor excuse for bad behaviour.

He shouldn't get in trouble for comments he said in privacy.
People say that all the time when you hear about someone getting fired for doing something stupid in their private life.

The reality is if you sign up for most jobs these days there will usually a stipulation in a contract about a code of conduct. If your doing a job in the public then you can guarantee that will be in the contract. If you don't like it then don't sign on for the job.

The comments Hulk made were years ago but they only came to light now. Everyone knows the WWE is very protective about its public image and also hypocritical when it comes to how it deals with its wrestlers. I'm not surprised at all they terminated his contract.

I wonder what gimmick Curtis Axel will steal now.

Same here.

I've been highly pissed off at people before and yell and said hurtful things, but never anything racist, sexist, homophobic.

If you're first instinct is to start hurling slurs that speaks to how you view certain groups.

I seen people on social media ( NBC, ESPN,WWE Facebook page comments in regards to the story) saying its not that bad what Hogan said since Vince said the N word in that segment with Booker T and John Cena on Raw years ago. Even though it was it bad taste, that segment was done for laughs and had no malice behind it ( Vince talked to Booker about it before hand I believe). Also, some are defending Hogan because it was said in private which makes it better somehow. So even though it was in private it changes my views on Hogan because people just don't say stuff like that unless that how they really feel. He may have changed but I doubt it.

However, I do think it's a bit harsh to erase his career and legacy from WWE records completely because of this. Whether he is a racist or not is debatable, but is career and persona in WWE changed wrestling and the company forever. So in that regard you have to respect him there. Also, there are other racist within WWE that took forever to get fired ( Micheal Hayes) or are still around the social media manager that got Alberto Del Rio fired. So it is a bit hypocritical of them. But it is what it is. Racism should not be tolerated and ultimately WWE did the right thing I think.

Completely agree with this.

I think it's bad any time a Hall of Fame or organization tries to erase someone from their history. You don't have to celebrate that person but to try and erase them ultimately does a disservice to the truth.

even with that said I get why WWE is doing it since they're a publicly traded company that already had a perception of being "low brow".

John Wayne was racist towards native Americans in real life but Hollywood never erased him from his legacy and Marlon Brando was an ass who did iffy things but he's still the godfather and superman's original dad

True and you don't see Disney erasing Walt himself from history despite some of his works catching a lot of flack for the racism injected into them like Jungle Book, Dumbo, Peter Pan and others. Those films are still viewed as classics.

That's not to defend Hogan because he deserves to get fired and should NOT be celebrated but he shouldn't be completely "unpersonned" either

I'm not sure how the relationship is with Hulk and Vince but could it just be that they were trying to find a way to push him out and now they have a legit reason to?

I wonder if there will be a"Fall of Hogan"documentary on the wwe network with people, including black wrestlers who are disapointed in the Hulkster.

R-Truth can say Hogan bamboozled everyone and Booker can say he predicted this years ago

So who replaces him on Tough Enough?

Hulk's current role was as a promotional guy/host for the WWE so he might of been seen as more expendable as he isn't an in ring talent.

Keep in mind that Vince is long rumoured to be a hardcore control freak so is probably super cautious of any negative Hogan fallout effecting his family friendly WWE brand.

Highly unlikely, wouldn't be a good idea for them PR wise. I can see wrestlers trashing Hogan in shoot interviews though to make a couple bucks on how they "knew all along." Probably within the next couple of days.

Also, the WWE fears a few things will happen:

- Al Sharpton bashing the WWE because he believes he represents all African Americans.
- A walkout by every single black person employed by the WWE followed by a boycott of the WWE via Sharpton.
- The Rock severing ties with the WWE for good because he has to stick up to his paternal heritage.

A walkout is probably not what the WWE wants. However a walkout and the African American community boycotting the WWE would leave The Rock very much conflicted.

That Booker T "We Comin For You" promo is so appropriate.

I died when all the YouTube comments said "You finally got him".

:lmao:

None of this makes sense...

For one Al Sharpton has called out WWE in the past and little to nothing came of it.

As for your other two points nobody is going to walk out of WWE because of Hogan being racist. Nobody that works for that company cares about Hogan THAT much. Plus lets not act as if there are people currently working for that company that are racist that the black wrestlers that work there either tolerate or ignore.

Anyway, the WWE has been a "family friendly" company since "The Summer of Hell 2007" that almost put them out of business.

Hard to imagine that the "Summer of Hell 2007" was 8 years ago.
