Where is Gen X's 'Beatles?'

he's back in NIN for their upcoming tour :D

also, current GNR are terrible...seriously, Axle scared away Buckethead...have you heard any of there new stuff? They did the title track from Chinese Deomcracy live and it leaked to youtube, and its awful...

They'll never be able to top Appetite For Destruction, so they should just give up :o

Perhaps the best way to look at it is 'What current band/group will still be as popular in 40 years as The Beatles are now?

In my opinion, that band cannot rise until Paul is dead.

GNR is still gonna be popular in 20 more years, as soon as Chinese Democracy comes out, just you wait and see

Yes but will they be Beatles popular?

So what is up with this Chinese Democracy album anyways? How many discs is it? How many tracks?

Not if it sucks, like it most likely will. And even if it's a decent album, but nothing groundbreaking, there's gonna be huge backlash against it, as it's been so hyped that anything short of the second coming of jesus is going to be a let down.

yea they wont but their albums still sold alot, GNR Lies sold 14mil for just 1 day in the studio recording 4 songs and adding 4 from their Ep live like a suicice

I don't think there has been, or will be, anything quite like the Beatles ever again. It's simply a different time, and we're exposed to so much musically and otherwise, that I don't think we'll be impacted in the same way, nor should we really expect to be. I mean there have been a fair share of headliners and record breakers stemming from the 80s and 90s and continuing into 2000s--think Michael Jackson, Madonna, or even Mariah Carey (I guess)... and some of them may very well top the Beatles in hits, but I don't know if any of them will be considered to have the same impact or achieve the same levels of praise and success that the Beatles have had.

yep, thats pretty much all there is to it.

idk, for taking like 10 years to make it should be a bunch of songs

Chinese Democracy will be a 4 song EP...2 of those songs will be unreleased tracks from the Use Your Illusion sessions :o

The only equivalent I can think of from the '90's is rap's 2Pac. After he died, rap gradually turned into ******ation with microphone access.

Nowadays, there is no one deserving of The Beatles's throne. Other genres of music these days has fallen to the same disease rap fell to.

It's all become emo screaming, whining, and lack of skill with the instruments.

While I don't inherently disagree that Hip Hop has slowly declined since the late 90's, there is a lot more than 2Pac that is innovation from the Hip Hop genre.

How can you compare Guns N' Roses to The Beatles when everyone but Axl left? Would The Beatles have been as popular if Paul, Ringo, and George all left and The Beatles just became John Lennon and three other guys? And then they take nearly 20 years to release an album? Ya' see? GNR is no where NEAR that level.

awe c'mon ringo was as useless as the war in iraq, and it 10 years dont exagerate

if it was gonna be a 4 song ep why would there be like 10 demos

Funny you should mention Michael Jackson. What do you think a Jackson Five reunion would be like, popularity wise?

Of course, they didn't play any instruments.

are you kidding me?! ringo was a FANTASTIC drummer. it boggles my mind how he's constantly under rated.

depends who those other 3 guys are :o

No, it really doesn't because the collective mind of the masses wouldn't be able to process the new incarnation as The Beatles. It would be inevitable for the popularity to decrease. They would be somewhere above The Traveling Wilbury's but far below The Rolling Stones and even Aerosmith.

well thats whats wrong with most people today they dont like changes

ha, dont worry, i wasnt being serious. and i totally agree with you. it was just an excuse to post that video....because it owns my soul. though, i highly disagree that a band consisting of lennon, clapton, richards, and mitchell would be below aerosmith. i mean, c'mon! thats a pretty f**king ridiculous line up of talent there.

oh and uhhh..GNR blows.

carry on, folks.
